  1. gee...i guess i'm less happy with losing than you must be..but I don't consider a nine win season too much of a stretch for a team that has just had two 7-9 seasons. But maybe you want to give them four or five years to show any improvement?
  2. I'm skeptical of the way the new regime has failed to make the necessary changes in trade or free agency, but they still have the draft. I'm witholding my judgement however to see whether they win nine or more games next year. If they do...wonderful and they will seem to be on the right track. If they don't...we had better be looking for someone a little more aggressive in finding quality personnel.
  3. Between 18 and 70 a woman is like Europe...full of Plagues, Dark Ages and Inquisitions with intermittent world wars. Not really....they are more like paradise!
  4. hey...don't tell me what you did as a scout for the Chargers who didn't go to the superbowl while you were assistant GM or superscout, tell me what you are doing for the Bills. I'll believe it when I see it. Just win baby.
  5. Pretty clearly Bulaga or Williams. Short arm/overcoached, all of that crap isn't going to mean much in comparison to whether or not he can block. Montana and Breese were too short, Bruce Smith was too fat, Jim Kelly was coming off a bad shoulder, Thurman Thomas had a bad knee and was following Barry Sanders. There always seems to be a reason not to draft someone high. These guys are legit top ten picks and its the area of critical need. Is is possible we might draft Clausen if he's there at nine? Yup...but IMHO I think the left tackle is the preferable option. Won't kill me if they pick Clausen. Now..if we pick a defensive back or a halfback...
  6. picky picky picky....you people want a qb who can actually play football and win games? My goodness...didn't you hear that this team is not going to get better overnight? It will be years and years before we get better. Just be patient. We will get better through the draft, not be judicious trades or free agency. We will draft 7 starters this year and 7 next year and 7 the year after that and we ill almost have a new and better team until the next year when the first 7 go somewhere else. We aren't going to fall into the trap that Shanahan, Parcells and Belichick and all of those other no nothings do signing quality free agents and playoff caliber quarterbacks and stuff. That is the easy way out and why none of those guys ever amounted to anything. Get over it...picky is only going to get you an ulcer. It isn't whether you win or lose..its friendship and good sportsmanship...
  7. Smith would have been a hall of famer in either scheme. He was one of those players who really defined a position. I actually think you have to put him in the class of people like Lawrence Taylor at linebacker, Peyton Manning at qb, and Jerry Rice at wide receiver. You'll not see his like again.
  8. interesting article...thanks! I'm still for getting the LT at 9, although I'd probably understand taking Clausen if he is available, given the strength of tackles in the second and third round. I think we should go very heavy on lineman picks throughout this draft. I'm coming around to the possibility that Clausen might be a workable pick at 9 though.
  9. oh well...I'm old enough to not be really surprised by anything. People do some really stupid things. I've learned to be a little slower to judge and a little quicker to forgive.
  10. Exactly...I posted MONTHS ago that we should be moving to get Gaither from the Ravens, and if we got him for a second round pick, I'd be pleased. This crew hasn't shown the gumption to move on this front, so I imagine that ninny Shanahan may pick him up. You're scenario about picking the top three tackles is scary in that it makes so much sense. If that should happen I would hope we would trade down or even address some defensive issue with the number one pick. We'd have some really fine choices. Actually if all three of the tackles were gone, I could live with us taking Clausen.
  11. Their will be one of three premier LT prospects available at nine. Okung will almost certainly not make it to us, so Baluga, Trent Williams or (in theor) Anthony Davis will be there. I might pick Clausen over Davis, given the concerns I've been hearing about him since the season ended, but if Baluga or Williams are there, its a no-brainer.
  12. What makes you think rebuilding is an "either/or" thing which calls for building through the draft and ignoring free agency or judicious trades? Maybe I'm wrong but I'm seeing Shanahan Parcells and Belichick doing both. Not seeing anything happen in the Bills front. Last time I looked the players in this world seemed focused on the Benjamins, not the particular city. As to McNabb I suspect he was more taken aback by our crappy offensive line than anything else. I'll withhold judgment on the existing crew in charge until I see whether they win nine or more games next season. Hell I don't care if they do it with Edwards and the existing offensive line. Just win baby.
  13. We go nowhere without a good offensive line. There are some very solid offensive linemen in this draft, and if we don't use the draft to upgrade the line, we should at least be active on the market to get significant improvement.
  14. Nonsense. Gailey and Nix are getting lots of sleep and will win with the guys they have. Its people like Shanahan, Parcells, Bilichek and those other no nothings that are out there making deals...we're above all that.
  15. Its not a highly dysfunctional team. There are eight more dysfunctional teams that would better fit that moniker. I think it is reasonable to expect a significant improvement in one year. We have free agency, trades and the draft to address personnel needs and a very experienced new coaching staff. Let's put a bottom line out there and let the coach and GM know that results are expected quickly. I'm not asking that we even get to the playoffs or take a divisional title in the first year...just give nine wins. Why on earth couldn't that be an expectation with improvements in personnel and coaching? How many games did we lose last year on stupid plays and really stupid penalties? How many injuries did we have on defense? My goodness some of you guys are so used to losing I think you actually like it.
  16. Baluga would be a very good and very obvious line. The team would get better with him at left tackle in a way that it could not get better with any other pick in the first round of this draft with the exceptions of Suh, Okung or Bradford, none of whom are going to be there at 9. A no-brainer that even Gailey and Nix should be able to see.
  17. Why we picked this guy when we could have gone for Kelley Washington or even re-signed Josh Reed is beyond me. Washington has a much better resume...hell Reed has a much better resume.
  18. nice april fool! You're the first one of the day!
  19. By the end of next season he'll have been here plenty of time. A nine game or more win record is quite reasonable and quite doable...assuming the guy actually does something. I'm not saying throw the bum out now...throw the bum out if he doesn't produce a significant improvement next season.
  20. "Jackson was chosen No. 36 overall by the New England Patriots in the 2006 NFL Draft after many couch scouts predicted he'd be a first-round pick out of Florida. The 6'1", 215-pound Jackson spent two seasons in New England, where he caught 13 passes in two years while suffering one major knee injury. Jackson spent the 2008 season with Denver (1 catch, 19 yards) and made last year's opening day roster under new head coach Josh McDaniels, but was cut soon thereafter. He did not play in 2009." I'm less than impressed.
  21. Well, that would have been something. Not necessarily something productive...but something.
  22. I was big on him early on but his failures at the combine and bust pro day workout make me wonder whether he wants to play football. I'm reluctant to characterize a potential draft by referring to an earlier bust, but this guy has Mike Williams written all over him. Bulaga or Trent Williams may be there at 9 and if so I'd go with either of them. Bruce Campbell is still kind of a question mark or a reach at nine?
  23. Yeah...its March and he hasn't done anything. There is a lot that could have been (should have been done) by now and isn't being done, but its not earth shattering as he still has time to make some significant corrections. The proof is nine or more wins next year. Anything under nine he should be shown the door.
  24. I'm a little surprised by how litle Gailey has done, but I'll give him the benefit of the doubt. We had better have a 9 or more wins this year. We get that I'm happy with him. We don't, throw the bum out. I don't know how he plans to have a winning season next year based on his actions to date, but there are still some things he can do to improve the situation in the next few weeks. Wait and see.
  25. What was their favorite tv show in the weight room? The Biggest Loser!
