My thoughts on our first 3 picks
NeverOutNick replied to Reed83HOF's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Exactly and Upshaw is the last player I want at #10. He's a product of the system he's in but when he gets to the NFL does not have good pass rushing ability and will only be good against the run...I think we can get a passrusher or 2 later to compliment Mario (we have Kelsay, Merriman, and Carrington for now). I'm ok with a lot of players at 10 but not Upshaw -
Here's a good article on what Tannehill offers and why if we did take him we would need to let Fitz know this is still his team but Tannehill could be the future (in a couple years) My link
-
I'm totally fine with us drafting Tannehill as a current back up (contingency for if Fitz gets hurt) and eventual franchise QB. He looks to have all the qualities you want except a lot of game experience which is why he would work for a team that already has a QB in place (so he can be groomed)...He looks much better than all of the QBs that came out last year (besides Cam) Side note: I think if this is part of the plan we let Fitz know ahead of time that were not trying to replace him but have an eventual successor or legitimate back up in case things go wrong

My thoughts on our first 3 picks

I've been thinking the same thing about Kuechly for a while now, he seems solid no matter what LB position he plays in a 4-3 and your right we need depth there and Wanny wants fast LBs too (4.5 is fast) -

I'll be honest I'm ok with US taking Tannehill...guy is an athlete with accuracy and a strong arm. He could develop and be a great backup behind Fitz for a couple years -

If we were going to stay with all of our picks and not trade up/down (and we don't get Bell back) heres 1 scenario I'd prefer in the draft: Rd 1 WR Michael Floyd (I'm ok with Hill as well if Nix is but would like to trade down for him)- Great compliment to SJ to stretch the field and get defenses to respect the pass more. Rd 2 OT Bobby Massie (don't think Glenn or Adams fall to us...Zebrie Sanders would work too) - Hard working/intelligent kid who plays well at LT but needs a little work Rd 3 CB Josh Norman (think this is BPA and don't think a good enough OLB will be there like Lavonte David...wouldn't mind Bentley) - Small school ball-hawking CB who plays great man to man Rd 4 LB Sean Spense (Bruce irvin would be great here but someone will take early because of speed...nigel bradham would work too) - Need depth at OLB Rd 4 DE Jack Bequette - (Chandler Jones is another good option) Hard working big DE who played in the SEC (which buddy loves) Rd 5 QB Russell Wilson - A QB that Chan can make work in his offense in case Fitz goes down Rd 5 LB Vontaze Burfict - Why not take a chance on a guy who could end up being a steal I think our locker room is filled with good guys (plus Barnett is working with him) The ultimate scenario would be for us to take Martin/Reiff at 10 and have Stephen Hill fall to us in the 2nd but the more likely scenario is above if we're playing it safe -
Thanks! Does that mean if they don't resign with another club they have to play with us?
-
Anyone know how long other teams have and/or when we make an offer if no one else does?
-
This may have been talked about in another thread but I am not aware. I know both Urbik and Rinehart are RFAs with 3rd round tenders but what exactly does that mean? Can we resign them now or do we have to wait until FA is over? I really hope we keep both cheap (or at least Urbik) so we're not forced to take Decastro...Whoever knows how this really works let me know

My case for Michael Floyd
NeverOutNick replied to FavreDolla_Footlong's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I love your thinking and if this scenario played out i'd be ecstatic! It's hard to see Nix trading down though...I would like Glenn over Adams though -
BOOM!!! This is EXACTLY what needs to be done and then after that "if" there are holes we will fill with whatever is left (FA lasts a couple months after the draft) Lets reward our best players which definitely include Byrd (my favorite Bill), Levitre, and a healthy Wood
-
That should be it (unless Bell wants to come back at a decent price)...why go after mediocre talent. Lets focus on using that money on extending Byrd, Levitre, Fjax and the draft

Wouldn't it be Floyd > Reiff/Martin...? -
Why Stephen Hill WILL be the pick at number 10.
NeverOutNick replied to mob16151's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I can totally see Hill going in the 1st but 10 seems high...i wouldn't mind if we trade down and take him (no Jeffrey please, guy doesn't play with effort and not a good route runner). I believe we take OT 1st rd though -
exactly...especially against the run

Mario Williams: Officially a Buffalo Bill
NeverOutNick replied to buffalo_bills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
LOL best take i've read all night...good night folks, I'll pray tomorrow is a good bills day -
The Merriman tweet to VJackson
NeverOutNick replied to Kelly the Dog's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
agreed! or Laurent Robinson/Meachem and then extend Levitre and Byrd -
Levi Brown or Bell. Or waste 1st round pick ?
NeverOutNick replied to Chuckknox's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
exactly what i was going to say...I trust nix in finding our next LT -
[closed]The Bills have 7th most Offseason Money - Update
NeverOutNick replied to Sniper's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Mario would be great but he and VJ aren't worth the 10+ Mil a year they would cost. Lets extend our players (Byrd, Levitre, Fjax, Urbik) and pick up a decent #2 WR like L. Robinson (who made Flo look like crap last year)...maybe another corner if nix sees one he really likes (carr for instance). I don't want Mincey (one year of decent production) or really any of the available 4-3 DEs (unless Freeney is released or doesn't cost much). Then we go into the draft getting our LT (since it looks like Bell is gone) and a few pass rushers -
Exactly get all 3 done before training camp. Byrd (My favorite Bill) right now is our best player on Defense and Levitre are most versatile OL...They need to be extended ASAP

Realistic Free Agent candidates?
NeverOutNick replied to simpleman's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I like Meachem's speed and big play ability but that guy drops a lot of passes. I would be happy if we got him but happier if we got Laurent Robinson or Garcon -
is Justin Blackmon worth moving up to get?
NeverOutNick replied to EldaBillsFan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Agreed...Blackmon would look awesome in a Bills uniform lined up opposite Stevie. He is already a polished route runner with incredible hands and apparently 4.4 speed. I would love to have him if it didn't cost too much to move up but am ok with staying at 10 for an OT or even Ingram/Coples/Floyd (not Upshaw i'd take hightower ahead of him) -
who is your Homer Pick the 2012 draft
NeverOutNick replied to EldaBillsFan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
My homer pick is a guy we won't have a chance in getting...Justin Blackmon! Guy is going to be a beast for a long time...imagine him on one side and stevie on the other Also would really like Russell Wilson late -
I concur and would love Ingram and would be ok with Coples but please no Upshaw, he is not worth a top 10 and if we were going to take a Bama player I'd rather have Hightower
