  1. I like reading Sully. I also like listening to Barak Obama speak. That doesn't mean I like what either of them has to say. I've been reading Sully for 20 + years. When Felser was still writing regularly, Sully was the loyal oppositon with the dissenting opinion. Now he is just a whiner. The Bills could have gotten Holmgren as GM, Cowher as coach, traded into the No.1 spot and landed Bradford, traded back into the 1st round to land Bulaga .......and Sully would have whined about them mortgaging their future by trading away draft choices. But I still like Sully, the same way I like Cliff Clavin from Cheers! Here's to you SULLY!!!
  2. The baggage is lack of confidence, perceived or real; from the fans, the coaching staff and this team mates. Not to mention his own lack of confidence. I'm not saying that's all on him. Most of us wouldn't have gotten up from the hit he took in St. Louis. I also am very cognizant of the organizational dissary that he has had to deal with. But the bottom line is your QB needs to be the face and swagger of the team. Your team mates need to know that you can stand tall no matter what the circumstances. Trent hasn't had any swagger since the 2008 game in St. Louis. So if he can't show he can be head and shoulders above Brohm, then its time for a change of scenery for both him and the Bills.
  3. I hope youre wrong, only because I'd hate to go 8-8 and miss out on another franchise QB by getting the 12th pick, instead of 5-11 and getting a top 5 pick. Either way, they miss the playoffs this year. My hope this year is they at least show some excitement. You can call me an apologist, or a kool-aid drinker, or tell me my expectations are too low. But the 2009 version of the Bills were at about the same talent level as the 1984 and 1985 2-14 Bills squads. Even with Kelly and Co, it took a few years to bring things back.
  4. As the old jingo goes.....Kool-Aid tastes great!!!!! Besides, many teams have shown you can be competitive while rebuilding if you start with the defense and hide the shortcomings of the offense. The Ravens won a Super Bowl using that philosophy. (Granted it was UGLY, but it worked).
  5. FWIW.....I saw Gilyard, Roosevelt and Golden Tate all play against Univ of Pitt's defense. From the games I saw (so this is strictly a one game assessment for each), I'd rate them: 1. Gilyard - he almost single handedly won the game. The key reason they came back from a 20+ point deficit. Scary every time he touched the ball. 2. Roosevelt - Every time he touched the ball he either did score or picked up big yards. 3. Tate - almost brought ND back with a receiving TD and a return TD. So, I think player projections are based on mostly big time conference vs small conference, quality of competition, etc. I hope based on those performances I saw, that maybe the Bills have a diamond in the rough with Roosevelt.
  6. Don't get me wrong, I'm impressed with the Jets bar no holds / the time is now approach. I think they have surpassed the Pats. Rex's approach reminds me a lot of his dad Buddy's us against the world approach. It works when things are going well. If they don't go well, things tend to blow up quickly. That said, I definitely think its more likely the Jets are set to become the class of the division for the next few years. I like all their acquistions except Cromartie. And I'm wondering how Tomlinson has much left. Holmes was a great pick for a 5th rounder, but he's still a (talented) knucklehead.
  7. http://www.democratandchronicle.com/articl...101/4250369/tbd I usually disagree with Matthews. Like Kiper, he was solid in his assessment of Clausen. (NOT). But his 5-11 prediction for the Bills and his logic when looking at the their 2010 schedule game by game is probably pretty good. It's tough to think that the Bills won't be competitive in the win-loss column this year. But the reality is they probably won't. The other three teams in the division had more talent to start. The Bills are and will remain at least for another year the 4th best team in the division. If that leads to Jake Locker or Ryan Mallet, great. It's just tough to go into the season writing it off. The Jets are in "all-out, win-now" campaign. Their off-season moves and draft strategy demonstrate that. Their locker room may blow up if those moves don't pan out, but they look ready to really make a move, especially if Sanchez progresses and avoids a sophmore jinx. The Pats are the Pats. I think they're on the decline, but that still means they are a playofff favorite even if not a Super Bowl favorite. The Fish are two years ahead of the Bills in their rebuilding program. I know it's not popular with half the posters on TBD, but I look at it as the construction of a new house. Laying the foundation isn't pretty. You just have to take some satisfaction when you see the cement drying as the foundation starts shaping up. Hopefully we've got the right architects this time around. Until they prove otherwise...... HAIL BUDDY...git er done!!!!!
  8. Back-up QB is always the most popular (and ususally safest) position on the team. Good analysis of the situation. I think Edwards has to be a clear cut winner over the other two holdovers, otherwise he's gone. He can't win close. Too much baggage.
  9. No. His skills are fading and he would only take energy away from developing players that are part of a long term solution. I give him credit for being on his best behavior last year, and understand that his relatively low production was as much a product of the general state of the Bills. Time for both TO and the Bills to move on.
  10. Good post! The only credit I give Kiper is that he has been able to make millions off of being wrong so often.
  11. B+ Would have liked them to get a OT a little sooner. But taken as a whole, solid picks.
  12. And I should care about what Walter says because....?????? He's an internet blogger (I'll give him credit for being smart enough to make 100K/year for doing it) and only 25 years old. My Whammy Weenie is older than that. I have Bills underwear older than he is. And I should give a rat's azz about what he has to say!!! HAIL BUDDY!! Walter...not so much.
  13. Panthers picked him to send a message to Jimmy Clausen!
  14. HAIL BUDDY!!! A man of his word.
  15. Yes.....because...... Da Bills, they're an ugly mutt, but they're MY MUTT.....always have been, always will be....no matter where I live!!!! HAIL BUDDY!!!!!
  16. Hear, hear!!! for 1st amendment rights! I respect Hynze's right to express his opinion, as much as I respect everyone else's rights to call him a moron!!!! America, its a great country!!!!!
  17. I LOVE THIS DRAFT 1. A little splash - Spiller 2. Addressed every position of need QB. OT x 2, OLD, DE x 2, DT, WR 3. Didn't reach (Maybe a bit on Carrington in 3rd), didn't chase players. 4. Stuck to the plan. Didn't mortgage future picks Da Bills, they're an ugly mutt, BUT THEY"RE MY MUTT!! (and they just got a little less ugly!!) PS....I think Hynze is a troll Patriot's fan who knows Buddy and Company are laying the groundwork to eat Bellicheat's lunch for the next decade. HAIL BUDDY!!!!
  18. Count me among the "I like what I see so far crowd" I have a enough hard time p*ssin' in the morning!
  19. WR Mardy Gilyard U of Cincy I saw him play against Pitt in regular season finale. He was awesome against a pretty good Pitt def both receiving and returns. Knock is doesn't have NFL caliber breakaway speed. That said, I'm hoping Campbell (OT/Maryland) is still there and Bills take him with 4th round pick.
  20. Get used to it. It was a ratings success despite the fact it went up against of bunch of NBA and NHL playoff games. http://bleacherreport.com/articles/383221-...ratings-success
  21. If he tells you he will have to kill you!
  22. Fine with me as long as they get VALUE!
  23. Everybody's standing rule for the day should be: Don't belive ANYTHING....from ANYBODY...except Roger Goodell when he says... "And with the (fill-in blank) pick of the 2010 NFL Draft, the (fill in team) select (or trade)(fill in players name, position and school)" Everything else today is meaningless filler for message boards and sports websites.
  24. Today is like a tailgate Sunday at RWS. Start drinking early..and ask somebody what the final score was tomorrow!!!
  25. Dude...it's Christmas.....don't be the Grinch! (At least wait until the draft is over)
