  1. Hollins should almost never see the field on offense. If he does it isn’t good for this team’s prospects for 2024. FWIW, I’m ok with a .500 season given they’ve shed a lot of cap and age and have some extra draft capital for 2025 draft. I think management knows this isn’t a SB caliber roster, but they have a plan for next year.
  2. I was impressed with Javon Solomon. Thought he produced pass rush pressure and held up reasonably vs the run.
  3. Trubisky isn’t great for sure, but who can you realistically get? Tannehill is going to wait for a starter to get hurt. If he was willing to backup he’d be on a roster right now.
  4. I really hope that Keon Coleman shows some positive plays. Reports from camp have been positive, but he didn’t make much happen vs Chicago.
  5. And…Trubisky is about average backup level QB in the NFL. There aren’t even 32 good starting QBs in the league, let alone plentiful starting caliber backups.
  6. Completely agree, but there is surely a lot of work to be done. The OL was poor throughout the game. The RBs including Cook and Davis had nothing and the D was overall weak. Not panic time, but depth might not be as good as thought.
  7. I didn’t like the Coleman pick, but I’m starting to get excited that he could be good.
  8. Only if he is healthy.
  9. Ok, I’ll bite. Who do you think they could have that is any better than Trubisky?
  10. I think Kobe was pretty darned gifted physically. I’m not saying he didn’t put in a ton of work, but to describe him as not gifted is a stretch, in my opinion.
  11. Barry Sanders, Earl Campbell, Gale Sayers, Fred Billitnikoff
  12. I admit that I didn’t like Coleman as their WR choice in the draft, but I’ll root for him to succeed. I would not expect very much from him yet - he is young and needs to learn to run better routes to get open. Hopefully, he can do that well enough to be a big contributor in 25.
  13. He is 76 and probably doesn’t want to take a job below DC.
  14. Unlikely they have the cap room for any big splash. We need to settle in with reduced expectations during this reset. They have draft ammo and more cap space to next year to make a jump back to the top tier. Which of those teams won the SB?
  15. Wasn’t aware of that.
  16. This guy is a high end athlete with quickness that will give him and advantage. He has a Master’s degree in understanding leverage. Long-shot yes, but not out of the question that he becomes a NFL player in a year.
  17. Backups play a fair bit, too. Especially on the DL and when inevitably the injuries hit.
  18. I think the reasons to wait are: 1. They don’t have cap room this year to sign a big free agent or add a star through trade. 2. Trading next year’s picks to move up this year would have meant not getting full value for those future picks (discounted by a round in trades) and would leave them unable to address other key needs next year (DE, another S, CB…) 3. It would have been very difficult to find a trade partner for one of the big 3 or ThomasJr.
  19. I think the strategy is that this is a reset year and they know they have extra picks to address getting a top WR next offseason. There was no way they could address all of their needs this year without trading picks from next year that they will need to finish the reset.
  20. I don’t think top 10, but isn’t unreasonable to think that the Bills in this transitional year might miss the playoffs.
  21. They may need a corner, but they are going to need the best approximation of a go-to receiver they can find.
  22. I would not call Coleman “twitchy”, I would call him a smooth moving athlete who can contort his body to adjust to off target throws. He is an overall very good to excellent athlete, but instant quickness and lateral agility are not his calling card - at least to my eyes. He will have to really improve his route running, but I don’t expect him to become an elite route runner at his size. I think expecting him to be a difference maker or true go-to guy is pretty optimistic. If he becomes a solid WR2 and good red-zone threat I think that is a win. With an extra 2nd round pick and perhaps an earlier draft position, they might be in shape to get a difference making WR next year. I’m certainly not qualified to state my opinion as fact - it is just what I see when I watch him. I am rooting for him to show me to be very wrong.
  23. Agree that they had no choice but to move on from Diggs. Fixing the cap was also important. Note that I specifically said my lack of Coleman enthusiasm was NOT his 40 time. My concern is his ability to get open - something he didn’t show a lot of in college. He is young and a great all-a round athlete so upside is intriguing. If he can become a very good route runner, he might be outstanding. Still, not a lot of guys with his profile really excel in the league.
  24. Pretty balanced and fair summary. Like you, I’m not completely sold on Coleman- not because he ran 4.61, but because his college tape doesn’t show him getting open a lot. Now, he is just turning 21 and he is clearly a tremendous all-around athlete, so those both point to possible significant upside. I’m hoping that he turns out to be great, but we will have to give him a few years to see. I think the balance of the Bills’ draft is promising and made sense. They have picks stockpiled for next year, after that draft I think/hope that they will be right in the championship mix again.
  25. I’m not saying you’re wrong, but I think Diggs either was hurt, had some issue interfering with his play or is losing it due to age. I don’t think that the idea of fast, quick high quality route runners is expiring. Now, I’ve no issue with adding a bigger receiver to the room to add diversity to the attack, but they may be going too far.
