  1. Roquan Smith - We need athleticism in the front 7 badly. Pair him with Milano and we're moving in the right direction. Minkah Fitzpatrick - Big game experience. Versatile player position wise. Long. Love Tre' and EJ, but EJ does get dinged up. Would be a nice top 3 and keep LJ for fourth CB. Ftizparick and Hyde could rotate Safety/Corner on a matchup basis as needed and a strong secondary gets even stronger. Maurice Hurst - I like him. He's not the biggest, but he's very active. Legit athleticism in the front 7 is poison for an offense. It disrupts everything. To run McD's system the way it is truly meant to be run, I would bet the D will be addressed three out of those first five picks. I haven't forgotten about a QB. I like Mason Rudolph, and I think taking him would allow the Bills to keep picks that address the other needs, but still give them a QB with the size Beane spoke about, who also has a lot of upside as a player. I believe Cordy Glenn is out the door. The question is what will they get for him. 2nd or 3rd? (if his ankle/foot checks out he's worth that) That would allow the Bills to trade up for a QB and still address that front 7. Draft season will be compelling.
  2. Dawkins is their LT. Glenn will go for picks. With extra picks, on top of what they already have, I could see an OT picked. If they only have what they currently do, no. McD likes to rotate his DL. Two DT's wouldn't be overkill. He needs that position for his scheme.
  3. I thought Tyrod was no good? Why would they be able to get a third for him?
  4. True. I don't disagree. But look at how McD and Beane operate and listen to what they say is important to them. I don't think QB is a position they will gamble on gained maturity unless the guy is a rare talent. I don't see Mayfield as a rare talent; a good talent, but not rare in any sense. If the Bills already had an established culture then I could see it, like Carolina when they took Cam. He needed to mature, but he had rare talent And the Panthers, although having a poor season, had a stable environment with a lot of stretches of success. Bills can't afford to take chances. Not at the QB position. Still too early in the rebuild.
  5. Agree on Rosen. I'm not a huge fan, but he has potential. Mayfield I'm not sure about. Maturing is not a given for anyone. The crotch grab was the recent thing with him not the only thing. Is he a Beane type? Arrested for public intoxication, resisting arrest and fleeing an officer; And he's not a big guy. Don't get your hopes up.
  6. I have a feeling we'll see more than one DT in the first four picks. McD's defense requires pressure up front in both phases of the game; dominating pressure. That front 7 will take precedence in this draft outside of QB. Look for a couple LB's and couple DT's in the first three rounds. I have a feeling Cordy Glenn will be outta there too for more picks toward that end.
  7. We drafted an OT in the 2nd round, and no, it's not telling, because Cordy was injured through camp and parts of the season so the rookie was put on the left side. The question is why can't Henderson get a look at RT?
  8. http://www.newyorkupstate.com/buffalo-bills/index.ssf/2017/07/buffalo_bills_gm_brandon_beane_describes_what_he_looks_for_in_franchise_quarterb.html He will keep an open mind, but his preference is a big QB. Mason Rudolph, Josh Rosen and Sam Darnold fit more of what he's describing in terms of physicality. He wants Cam or Big Ben types.
  9. The Bills have a football czar and his name is Sean McDermott. The Pegula's trust him to right the ship. There is no one else coming. The bottom line is the team is rebuilding and they will need a couple more drafts to get things where they want them to be. The fact they have so many selections in April's draft could speed up that timeline if they don't deal away more picks than they use to chase a QB, and they hit on most of the picks. Light a fire? The players are playing, the truth of it is they don't have as much talent as some of the teams they're playing against, and you won't ever get anyone who can "oversee" all of what you're describing. No one can ever know everything. To me, the less people in the way the better. This team will sink or swim with McD and Beane. There will be no finger pointing or assumptions about who is doing what like in the past. That's a good thing. We all want the team to do better, but they want to build predominantly through the draft. Beane will have his first one in April. There aren't any quick fixes as much as the thought of another drawn out rebuild makes me want to vomit. It is what it is.
  10. Mayfield doesn't fit the description Beane gave of a franchise QB. I hope people aren't setting their hearts on him.
  11. Some people on the board got what they wished for... I didn't imagine it would be that inept. Oh well.
  12. They can draft a QB and still address the lines and LB position. The question is do they trade Cordy, Shady and Hughes to add the additional picks required to do that? The Bills are going to be a young team. No reason to keep those three in year two of a rebuild. I would also say, the QB does not have to be selected in the top ten of the first round for them to be a potential franchise guy.
  13. Talent is available everywhere in the draft and outside of the draft. It's up to the Scouts/GM to find and select it, and the coaches to coach it up. Simple as that. Cleveland has selected in the top five how many years in a row?
  14. I'm hoping Peterman does well, and I'm assuming McD has seen enough in practice that leads him to believe that he will. But I would not be shocked if the game goes badly. That said, Peterman has to QB the rest of the season if he's healthy. The die has been cast. Going back to Tyrod is just delaying the inevitable.
  15. The inference Jones made is that the guy being there with a black girl is worse than him being there with another woman. If that wasn't the sentiment Jones would have had no reason to mention the race of the "other" woman. From an elderly white man from the deep south it's not all that surprising of a "joke". It's also unsurprising that many would not pick up on the inference. If one is not the object of racialized comments it might be lost on them. If one grew up in the crosshairs of comments and jokes like these, it is very easy to discern.
  16. They don't need Tyrod. Brissett is playing well for them. And he's younger that Tyrod. I wouldn't doubt Tyrod winds up in Denver or J-Ville.
  17. She's only typical if one chooses to want her to be, and her over the top commentary (I don't buy her story) does not negate the history of the United States. We can track from the Settlers/Native Americans, slavery, reconstruction, the trail of tears, Jim Crow, Japanese internment camps, etc. and find rampant systemic and situational discrimination. You can also find the law and police role in those things too (Not saying all police/lawyers/judges are bad). There were mass killings long before Las Vegas or Columbine; there were entire black towns eradicated. People killed in mass by mobs. Those tendrils do not just disappear because the calendar changes. There have always been those who seek to discriminate -- and present what, in their minds, passes for justification -- and those who have no other option except to struggle against it.
  18. You just described all but a few QB's in the league. The rookie QB's who are guaranteed franchise guys coming out in the draft are few and far between too, in spite of what the yearly, agent led, journalist assited,. hype machine tries to convince fans of. Tyrod is a pretty good QB. He has flaws, but he also does things other QBs cannot do. If he's a bridge, he's a better one than most teams can trot onto the field. I'm not saying the Bills should not look for that "franchise" type of QB, but the Bills can win with Tyrod. Because of that Beane should keep building the most complete team he can, while at the same time investing in the QB position if there is one he believes in.
  19. I like Matthews too. But trading for Benjamin seems to seel his fate with the Bills. Matthews, based on his career production is in line for a Robert Woods type of contract. I don't see any way that Beane pays Matthews his market value and then pays Benjamin his market value (injury and production permitting) a year later. It would be a lot of money tied up in that position, and Benjamin is Beane's guy from scouting him for Carolina. Now if Matthews can be signed for say 4 or 5 million a year, I could see him coming back, but that would seem to be way less than his market value based on recent comps. And remember they still have to re-sign E.J. Gaines too.
  20. 1. I would not be inclined to trade up based on what seems to be available in 2018's draft pool. 2. Both 1's in 2018. a 2 in 2018. a 1 or 2 in 2019. 3. No. I don't think there is a legit franchise guy in this draft. I see a lot of guys with potential, much like the 2017 draft. And I'm not convinced the Bills don't see Peterman as a guy who could take over in the future with continued development; which is what Tyrod allows. Tyord does a lot of good things. No, he is not a Brady, Rodgers type of QB who can take over a game. But most QB's in the NFL aren't that. There are a handful. The rest are QBs who can win games with a good team around them or a guy who is backup QB masquerading as a starter. If it I were Beane I would add two LB's with speed, a DT and an OT. I wouldn't mind if they used one of their picks four picks in round 1 and 2 on a QB, but I want them to use the other picks, not give them up in a trade for a "maybe." For me the 2018 draft is about building up that front 7 on D and the O line.
  21. I don't think the message was mismanaged at all. I know the reason for the protest. You know the reason for the protest. People who pay attention know the reason for the protest. There was never any equivocation about what the protest dealt with. What happened is a group of people, led by the President and the Hannity's of the world, created a false narrative (imagine that), that the protest was about something other than what it was stated to be about. The question is why? The answer is they and many of the folks who follow behind them don't care about the issues that caused the protest in the first place; or in some cases, there are people who might care about the issues in a theoretical way, but are at a loss on how to deal with it, and therefore hide behind the diversion of the means of protest; which is a useless postion. These are the same people who in the 60s would have decried discrimination, swear up and down they have nothing against any group of people, yet say literally or figuratively, "if they would only stop marching or demonstrating..." Then churches would not have been bombed, people hung, falsely imprisoned, maimed, etc... It's ironic that men at peak physical condition and in many cases larger than the general population of the world not using their physcial prowess, but taking a knee, silently, has caused so much false trauma to so many.
  22. Makes no difference. His main issue isn't route running. He's fighting the ball right now. If he catches what's thrown to him he would be having a nice rookie season; he probably would also be getting more targets too. He'll be alright in the end though. He is very talented. I think he's trying too hard at this point. What will get him going in the right direction is a big catch in a big situation. It will give all of us cardiac arrest to see the ball on its way to him with a game on the line, but if he catches it he'll keep moving forward from there.
  23. If his health is that bad why would anyone give that much value for him? 2nd and 3rd round picks are considered high end picks.
