I guess ESPN is not a fan of the " process "
purple haze replied to Iron Maiden's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I would say it's the opposite, actually. The Bills QB situation is very unsettled, they have holes to fill at WR, at DT and still projected for 7 wins? By the end of the draft that number will move one way or the other, depending on the QB resolution. -
Shady Wants to Keep His "Lil Coins" in 2018
purple haze replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He's worth every penny. He is the majority of the offense in the run and pass game. And in terms of negative yardage focus on the offensive line. When Shady had any room at all he generally picked up the yards. And many times made something of nothing. But it's hard to run when defenders are in the backfield a tick after the handoff. To to my eye he still looks quick, fast and elusive. There's no reason to mention his money. Other players? Yes. -
Would the Browns be a trade partner at #4?
purple haze replied to Jerry Jabber's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That was Chris Hawkins, a starting Safety at USC. He said practicing against Darnold everyday they saw him make eye popping plays;, keeping plays alive by avoiding pressure then dropping a dime downfield. He did say Rosen is very good, but Darnold is special. -
Everyone Talks Trade Up For QB, But What If....
purple haze replied to H2o's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If his surgery goes well I don't think it will be that hard to trade him. Especially if he is part of a package. The other team will get access to his medicals. And say it's a trade with Giants... Beane has a relationship there so there would be trust there. I would prefer they keep him, Good LT's aren't all that easy to come by. But Dawkins looked good for a young player and there's no reason to move him. The Rumors that the Seahawks wanted Glenn but the Bills wanted more than Seattle wanted to pay tells me it can happen. You look at the Giants at 2 and the Bengals at 11 needing O-lineman. And of course Seattle. I think it's a matter of how the trade happens not if it happens. -
Everyone Talks Trade Up For QB, But What If....

That would be a great combo. To play devil's advocate: what if the trade up was a swap of one of the Bills first round picks with team X + Cordy Glenn? For example, pick 21 + Cordy going out, and lets say Bengals pick 11 coming back. So in essence they're trading Glenn to move up. -
Bucky Brooks: Eleven Teams That Need to Draft a QB
purple haze replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You think? I don't know. I know there are relationships there between Beane and Gettleman... And the Giants need offensive line help too. Maybe something like 21, 22, Cordy G., and a 2019 2nd. If they do trade up, I get it. But I would rather use all of those picks to build the team. I hope a couple of these QBs fall. -

They should look at Fitz's big contract with the Bills and tread lightly on Keemun. Odds are he turns back into a pumpkin at midnight. -
Many of them do now. Cable TV anyway.

Fast-Forward to 2018, Case Keenum

No. He's another Fitzpatrick to me. Flashes for a period, then average at best the rest of the time. They can do better. -
Why I Think the Smart Move is Pay to Get Cousins
purple haze replied to Shaw66's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If he's at the top of the draft he is still a longshot. Tim Couch, Ryan Leaf, Rick Mirer, JaMarcus Russell, etc... It is hard to play QB in the NFL no matter where a QB is drafted. -
A power scheme, I think fits the o-linemen they have, including John Miller. And if they draft a young QB and he's "ready" or Peterman wins the job, they will run a ball control offense to minimize the potential for mistakes.

Outside of the Bills... Love: 49ers, Raiders, Vikings, Seahawks, Saints all Black, Steelers, Hate: Tampa Bay, Browns (w/those colors their unis should stay with their traditional design) Jaguars helmets

Bridgewater was trending in a positive direction before his injury. He wasn't doing DeShaun Watson type things, but he was a solid QB which is pretty good for a young player at the position. He showed promise. He is slight, but it hasn't been an issue. His injury was a non-contact injury. Because of that injury he would be a risk, but he could be winning lottery ticket too. That's all any QB taken in the draft will be. All I'm saying is if they go the free agent route I don't want a "bridge QB". Get QB who could be the QB for the next 5-8 years.

No fan base seems to like any coach. Although, in Bevell's case, not running Marshawn from the one yard line had me not liking the dude either. But there must be some redeeming qualities to him; Seahawks o line was a grease fire this season. And part of Russell's game is running around, buying time, so I don't know if that should be a knock on Bevell. Truth. Which is why I don't want any bridge QBs. If Beane goes Free Agency he should get a guy who can be "the guy". That's Cousins or Bridgewater. I'd prefer that to giving up all of their draft capital to move up for a lottery ticket; although I can understand why they might do that. If they choose to draft the QB, let the young guy compete w/Peterman for the gig. If it's a young guy they are likely running a ball control system again. So just get the show on the road and let them learn on the job. but whichever route they take, they HAVE TO address the front 7.
-
If the Bills QB comes through Free Agency then Draft capital has to be spent on the front seven. If a QB is the objective in the draft and Beane is willing to give up a lot of draft capital to select one, Free Agency has to be focused on the front 7. DT and MLB are the major needs. The Bills have to get strong up the middle and be able to push the pocket from the inside. If they can get pressure up the middle, Hughes and Lawson will look much better.

More & more Mock Drafts have us taking Rudolph....
purple haze replied to BigDingus's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Don't forget Cordy Glenn. Including him could save the Bills giving away one of those picks. If the QB winds up being able play. If he can't the position player who can is better than a QB who can't. -

I don't see how they can bring him back for the money Watkins will most likely expect. Woods makes a good bit of change. And Goff loves Kupp. Those two have a connection. One could argue Sammy showing up in the middle of pre-season caused the lack of targets/consistent production and with a full off-season with Goff would turn into the number one guy... I think Watkins would be better off looking for greener pastures. And the Rams would be better off letting him find them, although giving up Gaines and that 2nd would be a mark against the GM. I just can't see them paying Watkins and Woods because Gurley has to get extended sooner than later as well, not to mention Aaron Donald needs it right now.

5 picks in first three rounds. If they are after a game manager they won't be using more than one of those picks on a QB. Also, Free Agency could help improve the D as well. McD is a Defense guy. He will get the players to run his system effectively. I would bet this draft will be Defense heavy early, specifically LB, DT, CB and DE.

Sunday is the biggest game since 2004
purple haze replied to QB Bills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
What's tall about it? Ravens went to the wire with the Colts last week. Their offense is inconsistent and the defense can be had. Bengals have talent. If they were going to lay down they could have done it in Detroit last week; they didn't, and Detroit had playoff aspirations on the line, at home. Bengals-Ravens is a toss up. -
Don't need an upgrade from Milano. Milano is part of the solution. He's got good athleticism. We need an upgrade in the middle and at Lo's starting spot. Then they can rotate him in or use him situationally. And to comment on all of the venom being thrown at DD, what's the point of that? his "inside" info, if that's what it is, is an interesting discussion starter if nothing else. Time will tell the truth either way soon enough. For a guy some posters seem to be vexed by ole DD's got those posters going along for long ride with him, 80 pages in.

From your mouth to God's ear. Smith is the guy I want. He is exactly what that front 7 needs. I can't believe he would be around in the mid-first round. Bills might have to make a deal to move up. They have the capital and they also have Cordy Glenn. Depending on the team Glenn could be the trade chip in a deal to get Smith.
