Sometimes the adjustment is the players have to execute what they are supposed to execute. No coach is going to junk a week's worth of study and preparation before halftime. Dudes have to win their match ups, fill the gaps they're supposed to and complete tackles. It's not always the scheme. Bills weren't doing the basics in New England.

Shady benched for start of game?

If you aren't talking production then under what criteria are you saying the man checked out? -
Shady benched for start of game?

Today alone doesn't tell you anything. None of them had a good SEASON. That tells the story. -
Shady benched for start of game?

If it takes a GM a couple years to build an o line he should be fired. Spend the resources to build it. It has to be a priority and this off season it was not. They chose to muddle through, adding Bodine, who was suspect in Cincinnati. This offseason I expect picks and dollars to attract more accomplished o lineman. -

What RB had a good season. Please tell us. And if your answer is none, tell us why that it is. -

A third? If he's as washed as some on the board think why would you think they could get that much for him? -

Stop. Lack of production doesn't mean quit. What production has the other RB's generated? What has the offensive line produced? All of them "quit" too? -

Me too. Which is why the offensive line he continued to put on the field is baffling. ??♂️ -
Matt Barkley extended for two years
purple haze replied to jletha's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Not really. He is a backup. If he were as good as a starter he'd be somewhere starting. Folks have unrealistic expectations about backup QBs. If any of them have to play more than a few games at a time a teams' season is in trouble. -
The Lions chose to go after Tre White
purple haze replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You can do that to any other CB too. Success in that instance wouldn't be unique to Tre White. Pass rush is as important to coverage success as the coverage itself. I disagree on Stevie, but with you on the rest of this. Folks are talking about Tre is getting picked on, but I don't see that at all. He's given up a few plays and few penalties. He's still better than most CB's in the league. People expect something that is not real: the myth of the "shut down" corner. No CB stops every throw. -
Calvin Ridley and Julio Jones had a lot of production. All depends on their QB at the time. They have top recruits, like Foster, who are stuck in line behind other top recruits. But unlike at other programs, backups can get a shot, because Saban runs that program like the kids are professionals. Which is why kids go there. Vicious cycle for all the other teams.

Detroit is across the bridge from Windsor, Ontario. Probably a lot of fans came from Canada. Only 4-5 hours from Detroit to Buffalo if you cut through Canada.

I hear you. I think Shady will be back next year. But this off-season is about nothing else but that offensive line for me. They must address it thoroughly. Spend draft capital and cap space. The line cannot be what it has been this season. If it is, Allen will not reach his development potential.
-
I agree with you, he's not top 3. I wasn't clear. What I'm asking is if you are sure he's not a player we can keep next year and see him rebound. Some analytics are cool. Elusiveness rating I don't buy into. It's too subjective. And there is no world where I believe Chris Ivory is better if all is even with health and a functional offensive line. That said, the Bills need to plan for the future regardless. A pick should be used on a RB or we should get to see Ford play some these last few games to see what he can do in live action. Bills might believe they already have the future in him. We shall see.
-
I didn't say anything about top three. He's a good RB who can still get his usual 1,000 if the line is worth anything. He's a good RB who can help the team if the line is worth anything. Fix the line and watch him run. No RB, McCoy or anyone else, is doing anything behind the Bills current o-line. It's a joke that people speak about how bad the o- line is in all facets, then tell us McCoy is no good as if that doesn't play a major factor. Ivory ain't running wild either. Hmmm???
-
You sure about that? I'm certain we won't see any posts from you that mention the offensive line then. None of the RBs are doing much. There's a reason for that. Allen is running a lot. There's a reason for that. Offensive line is a detriment. Fix that then let's see what Shady looks like.

He had been both the past few weeks, and has produced like it. The Miami game Allen missed two passes (where he was open) that would have given him near a hundred yards. He's running varied routes. He consistently gets separation. And he catches the ball. Why can't he be a WR1 or WR2? Beane should still spend draft capital on a WR and let them all compete, but it seems to me the limits folks place on Foster is not based on his physical talent but his undrafted status; i.e. Those guys aren't usually difference makers so there is a cap on what they can be. Watching him play, Foster looks like what people want in a lead dawg of a WR core. And since he's back up from PS he's looked like it consistently. He hasn't disappeared in the games. We might have to face the fact that the Bills got an impactful player in an unusual place. I can live with that.

A Few Thoughts About the Jets Game, in no particular order
purple haze replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Same as most weeks. They aren't getting the job done consistently enough. When the RBs can peel off some runs the o line winds up getting them tackled for loss several other times and one would think the RBs aren't doing good if one only looked at the stats. -
Why are people getting so annoyed by who leads the charge? Thousands have play d for the organization. Most weren't Hall of Famers or All Pro's. They still put in their time and contributed. I think it's a good thing they choose all different types of former players. Not like the crowd screaming is controlled by who is waving the flag anyway.

Bills sign DE Mike Love and CB Denzel Rice off of PS

It must be because Bodine was booty too. -
We Are In Good Shape. Who Would You Dump Next Year?
purple haze replied to Irv's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
They should get another CB, but Wallace is holding up well. 2019 #2 CB might already be playing at the #2 CB spot. -
Because they didn't pay them what they wanted. NFL is business. Pay and they stay or will show up to your city to play. There are only so many jobs and so many cities available to work in. Each team has a salary cap and that will also limit the available opportunities based on where individual teams stand with it. $$$>Winning>City. Folks are way overthinking this thing. If Allen plays well down the stretch, and the Bills play well as a team, Beane will be fine come FA time.
