  1. Bills: - Offense leads the league in points scored. - Defense is top 5 in the league in total defense, sacks and turnovers. NFL: Steelers start slowly, but come on late to get a Wild Card spot. Washington Football Team wins the NFC East.
  2. A Final Four ain’t happening in Orchard Park no matter what. Organizations put events like that in downtown, urban areas where there are myriad restaurants, bars, nightclubs, etc. No visitors to a city want to be way out in the suburbs. That’s why building a covered stadium with an eye toward conventions won’t happen either. Not in OP. A covered facility in OP makes no sense. It will significantly add to the cost of construction for little to no return.
  3. I hear you. It doesn’t feel good, but it’s ultimately nothing. What it does is confirm that they are business people above all else. But folks should have already known that.
  4. This is inevitable negotiation noise. Start high and work back from there. The taxpayers will be putting money into the new building, but nowhere near carrying the entire cost. This tactic is used by most owners, across sports, when it’s new stadium time. Pegula’s are business people first. Period. Don’t cry chicken littles the Bills aren’t going anywhere. Enjoy the season.
  5. Different generation. People seem to need to do most things online these days.
  6. No. It can be healthy when people discuss things. Not discussing issues causes problems. Seems like the back and forth is being done respectfully.
  7. I hear you. I don’t disagree. I think he’s faster than most folks think though. Reed wasn’t considered “fast” either at first. Then he started beating people deep and taking short passes to the house and the narrative changed. Not being a burner doesn’t mean not fast enough to play the long game.
  8. His game speed might be faster than his 40 time.
  9. FACTS. Took him a few years to get right, but when his talent/knowledge merged he was the goods.
  10. Yeah, it’s wild. But I’m glad for the players. If ownership can afford guarantees like that they are making much more.
  11. NBA contracts are totally guaranteed. NFL contracts aren’t. If I have to pay a player all of his hundreds of millions no matter what, I would be more specific about what they do and don’t do off the court, too.
  12. I loved the edge Derrick Burroughs played with, but that personal foul was a killer.
  13. I know. My family is from downtown and the east side from the 1930s on up to now. Where resources have been concentrated over the years is a whole other convo apart from the new stadium.
  14. I’m well aware of roads that need paving, etc . That’s why I specifically mentioned infrastructure . Because it hasn’t happened doesn’t mean it shouldn’t happen. It should have been happened. I see all the construction going on when I come back. It’s good to see. But it’s a start. It didn’t take a stadium to do it, but if they decide to take up real estate downtown for one I’m saying use it to build on or expand what’s there. I’ve used the subway. The subway is good if you’re in proximity to Main Street or doing something along that corridor. What if you don’t live around Main? What if you could catch the Subway to the Galleria or The Boulevard Mall? What if you work downtown but live close to Bailey and Delevan, for example. What if there was a subway stop near you? I’m advocating to expand the system in the city and into surrounding suburbs. Subway beats the bus, especially in winter. All that said, whatever is best for the area. I just think the area has suffered from small time thinking or a lack of follow through for too long.
  15. I doubt that’s the case. They’ll wind up building it where it’s most cost effective, i.e. where the county and state will contribute the most. if it makes tailgating fans happy, they’ll say it was a factor, but that’s window dressing.
  16. I’m not arguing the stadium helps the economy. I’m arguing that a downtown stadium be built with the items I listed as part of it being there. New roads. A more expansive subway system. Rail access from downtown to other parts of the region. Those are things that could benefit the city on a daily basis. I’m thinking of a downtown stadium as an impetus for changes not an end unto itself. If a downtown stadium is not part of a serious infrastructure/transportation revitalization then just leave it in OP.
  17. I prefer downtown because downtown - if done right - is not just an open air stadium. It’s an open air stadium that comes with massive public transportation, rail and infrastructure construction. Those are investments that will benefit the city/region everyday going forward. It’s time for Buffalo to think big and effin’ execute the plan.
  18. Progress shouldn’t stop because people are used to a certain thing. This mentality can keep people and cities stuck. There’s nothing wrong with loving tailgating but if the decision is made to build downtown you’ll find something else to like about the game day experience if you choose to. Ultimately, the Bills are playing. What’s not to like?
  19. They will ride Allen and Diggs just like last year. The passing game is who they are. I wouldn’t expect anything different this season if everyone stays healthy.
  20. All they need is the helmet and red socks. The current unis are basically the unis they wore the first 5 years with the red lids.
  21. I agree with you regarding the location. I prefer downtown, open air. I get why some want a covered facility but I think the narrative of varied use doesn’t hold up. I think they’re better off building a venue that is what it is: a place for and about football. Spend the money on infrastructure changes around the stadium and throughout the area: roads, rail, public transportation. Those things will transform the city more than a roof on the stadium. And if it’s in OP, I’m good with that. And out there, a roof makes even less sense to me. Either way a new joint Is coming no matter what we think about location, architecture or billionaires, taxes, government and citizens. In that context, I want to enjoy the ride.
  22. You really think naming them after George Preston Marshall is a good thing? I’m assuming you don’t know anything about him outside of he was the original owner. And mentioning him along with the police...? I won’t derail the thread.
