  1. A roof in OP makes no sense. Downtown? Maybe it would have. But in OP? No. There’s not a lot of events to book a stadium for and conventions wouldn’t book in OP. There’s nothing else there to do when the meetings aren’t taking place. Building downtown is a money issue, but the bigger issue is the time it would take because of all the things that would need doing outside of actually building the stadium. And those things might come with unknown costs. They don’t want a dome. It’s simple as that.
  2. How have the scope and quality been reduced? How big a stadium does Buffalo need? 60-65,000 is perfect. The quality will most likely be very high. 1.4 or so billion isn’t “cheap.” If they put a roof on the new stadium would the scope and quality suit you then?
  3. I don’t know about Baseball as leverage at this point. He hasn’t played in a couple years. Professional pitchers would take his lunch right now. I’m talking pro minor league pitchers. Can’t imagine he spends a lot of time in the batting cage.
  4. Copy Editors usually write the headlines not the reporter. Good chance she has nothing to do with that. If Mayfield played better she and other reporters would write about that; about big stats, memorable performances and playoff successes. Unfortunately, he hasn’t played consistently even when healthy and his future there is questionable. Should the Browns make him the highest paid QB in the game or even close to it? Why or why not? Should they find a new QB now, trade Mayfield or give him another year to prove himself? He has the ball in his hands every play. He can control the narrative. When a guy doesn’t play well enough at that position this is what happens. Not Cabot’s fault he ain’t that dude (yet, if ever).
  5. Last week he contributed mightily with his legs. He helped win that game.
  6. I haven’t so far.
  7. PS&E already said what it’s going to be and yet... LoL I wanted the stadium downtown. They stated it was going in Orchard Park. I don’t keep complaining about the stadium downtown. It’s like witnessing the stages of grief. Folks are still in the bargaining stage I guess.
  8. They had Andre Reed, James Lofton, Bill Brooks and Don Bebee too. They threw the rock in the elements too. Execute better than the other team you win. Period.
  9. You might not be getting their brain size though. You get the results from that test. So, there’s that.
  10. Mental acumen is related to football. Can a player tell me what cover 2 or what cover 3 is, man over, press man, quarters, etc. can they tell me what the concept is? What that call is trying to accomplish? Can they recommend a specific defense for a certain type of player or play call from an offense, etc. Can a QB tell me what play is effective against certain defensive calls and why? Can they reason out an audible based on another set of facts introduced? That would make sense. I suspect that’s part of what they do when meeting with NFL coaches. Players’ college and even high school coaches can tell you how they learn. How to best coach them. Film can tell you how a player reacts to different situations by down, distance and point in the game. Did they do their job successfully? We’re they thrown off by an unexpected twist from the other team? Why did they respond how they did? Did they play well most of games, but not as well in 4th quarters? Did they play better in tight games? Worse? Everything you say the Wonderlic does can be found out without players sitting for the Wonderlic.
  11. I answered your question. The activities are related to physical acumen. Which are directly related to football. the Wonderlic, in your opinion, does those things. But does it really? Why not a test about football related topics? Wouldn’t the powers that be learn the same things about the players ? Or has player performance over however many years in college/high school not given indications of the factors you list already? So what’s the point of the Wonderlic If they can already suss out those factors through football acumen?
  12. Exactly. My questions were rhetorical. I posed them for others who might see the questions and consider why the Wonderlic might not be as meaningful as they believe.
  13. Is that certain type of education one that is equal across the board? And does that type of education have any bearing on the ability of the players to perform athletically or learn a playbook? Seems to me the film and talks with coaches would reveal that info.
  14. The combine activities are football related activities; strength, agility, speed, quickness, flexibility; performing football related movements. Meeting with coaches and going over football concepts/interviewing makes sense. Pro days are similar. If there were a test about different types of defensive concepts or offensive concepts, cool. Asking about random facts? Nah. For what? To see if they cared to prepare? The players being invited to the combine speaks to a high level of play/dedication already.
  15. Or they don’t. We don’t know who actually prepares or the level of intensity of the preparation. Many players and, people in general, don’t like school to begin with. We can’t assume all of these guys prepare or prepare the same way. Ultimately, the test is irrelevant. Basically, they’re getting pledged. Eat a goldfish, drink this six pack, take the Wonderlic. It has no bearing if they can play or not.
  16. What’s relevant about it? Like any standard test it’s an amalgamation of facts someone, whomever they are, seem to be important. Are they though? And who decides? It’s a pointless exercise. Test players about football. That’s what they’re going to be doing. Remembering random facts isn’t necessarily an indicator of anything, even if the facts are ones most people know.
  17. I’m going by the attendance figure on pro football reference.
  18. It’s not weather die-hards; it’s Buffalo Bills die-hards; There were tens of thousands at the game last week. The playoff games back in the day were well populated too even if they weren’t sellouts. the resale market is the resale market. The team already made their money on those tix. The brokers and season ticket holders trying to get rid of tix are taking the loss. That’s the speculation business for you. PS&E did their research among fans about a lot of topics. Pegula said their fans want to be outside. Is that true? Seems to be reflected in the type of stadium proposed. They’ll only need 60-62,000 going forward to sell out. As vocal as some of you on the board are on this topic, I believe you are in the minority. I think most fans are willing to roll with what comes. I understand the ones who aren’t. Just watch on TV and enjoy your comforts. It wasn’t a sellout. But there were 70,000 people there. That’s a lot folks.
  19. Tell it to the Pegula’s. They’re so dumb they aren’t building a facility with a roof and tens of thousands will still show up to the games.
  20. New Stadium capacity will be 10,000 -12,000 seats less too. So, no problem. Stay home and enjoy the TV broadcast. The Pegula’s have accounted for the optics. They ultimately make more money if TV viewership is high.
  21. A long time ago - the type of stadium, location and capacity: Open air, an overhang to shield fans from the elements, 60-62,000 seats in Orchard Park.
  22. PS & E did all of their research and studies. They already stated what the stadium was going to be. Are arguments for a roof based on some information that they have changed their minds?
  23. Nonsense. Weather didn’t equalize anything today. Bad decisions and poor execution made it a game in the first half. 2 tipped passes had nothing to do with weather. Neither did Stevenson’s fumble. Neither did Pitts catch and run.
  24. Haven’t heard that. Where did you see this?
