  1. Who said they will struggle? Last year is last year. This is a new year, different coaches, etc. Because a player didn't set the world on fire last year means they never will or don't have that capability? Bell didn't do anything good last year? I know that's not true, because I saw a lot of plays when he had his man blocked in the run game and pass game; he moves well and has a lot of athleticism. He needed to get stronger and get more experience. We know by playing he got more experience and I would be willing to bet he's stronger. Not saying he will be an all pro, but could he be a good LT this coming season? Yes. Nix knows what he's doing. He needed a MLB with 3-4 experience. He signed Davis. He needed a DE with 3-4 experience, he signed Edwards. He needed another RT option, he signed Green. He said they needed playmakers, he drafted Spiller and Easley. He said they needed to get bigger up front on the D line. He drafted Troupe and Carrington. I could go on... The guy does what he says he will do. Obviously he thinks highly of Bell and is willing to see if Bell can put it together.
  2. http://abclocal.go.com/wtvd/story?section=...amp;eid=5306133 I'm not sure how they couldn't match that offer with a guaranteed 3rd? No picks are lost except for maybe the 2012 6th rounder. You have to wonder if Brown would sign the tender to be traded to Buffalo? But the asking price for Gaither just went down. They could have, but obviously didn't think Brown was worth it. Does anyone recall Buddy Nix saying he believes they have a good LT already on the roster?? Brown is 30, coming off a serious hip injury, and the team that drafted him was ready to part ways. Nix and Gailey said they want to go young (30 is young, but in football terms). Gaither or McNeil would be better trade options if they want to trade. Those two would fit the youth requirement. But I wish folks would get it through their heads, Nix and Gailey like Bell and his athleticism. They've seen him up close. They've watched all of his film, I'm sure not just game film, but practice film as well. They know what he's capable of. Remember Bell has played football for, what, five years of his life? He can get better at executing technique, but you can't teach his athletic ability. The Bills have a lot of young players and watch a good number be better this season. A year wiser, a year stronger. Not everybody is a stud right away.
  3. rehearsal dinner, bachelor party and possibly other activities based on whatever the bride and groom planned. Just sayin', be quiet.
  4. Why do you believe that Gaither has a poor work ethic? I wonder if sports writers and fans in general account for the fact that professional football players probably make up less than one percent of the total population of the country. Even athletically superior players have to work hard to hone their talents to the execution needed to play the game. If he had a poor work ethic he wouldn't even be in the NFL. If he had a poor work ethic how did he manage to beat out other players and be a starter on a playoff team? He might not have the extra whatever that Harbaugh is looking for, but when I watched him play in actual games Gaither looked good to me. McNeil and Jackson won't go anywhere this season. A.J. Smith is too much of jerk. He'll let them sit there until week 10 just to prove how tough he believes he is.
  5. Says you. His ego has never been a problem in the past and he's only spoken supportively of his teammates in the past. The problem is folks need to get off the guys back and let things play out however they will play out. I've said before Lynch has no issue with the organization. His issue is fans which has given him an issue with the organization because he wants to be traded because of it.
  6. You all are funny. Taking Lynch way too personally. I thought so many of you wanted to get rid of the guy. Now when he doesn't show up you want to be upset. Which is it? Get rid of him or you want him? We shall see what happens when camp is mandatory. I bet he shows up. Even if he doesn't it's not like he needs the money. He's already a millionaire.
  7. Dude, you don't know how the "improvements" in our division will work out. The games start in September and that is when the results will be determined. Do not assume anything. None of us know how good or bad they will be or any other team either.
  8. Too many folks are on some revisionist 20/20 history redux. Nothing wrong with him bringing out the ball. The fumble was the problem. For that Parcell's would have killed him. But the decision was only seen as bad because of the fumble. He's a return man. He was right to stay aggressive. How many threads on here killed Jauron because he played not to lose games? And remember, the Bills would still have had to run out the clock with their running game. And the defense gave up two late TD passes. And the offense's last drive was terrible. It was a team collapse. Not just about the fumble.
  9. Ryan Leaf NEVER had Lynch's positive production at any point. Lynch has more catches than Freddy Jackson. What are you talking about? You are making little sense. Nix/Gailey shouldn't run a team based on who the fans like or don't like. That would be incompetent. They are doing the right thing keeping Lynch. Best thing you can do is stop whining about it and enjoy what Gailey has planned.
  10. If he wants to reclaim his starting RB role he will show up on July 29th when the pads go on because that is when it will be determined, not during voluntary shorts and helmet practices. Think not? Go see Gailey's press conference today and listen when asked about how the QB's are doing. Don't get it twisted, it's all about pads and contact. Period.
  11. McKelvin could easily be the starter. The new coaching staff isn't concerned with getting out of the gates fast. They're concerned with building their team for now and the future. Nix and Gailey have talked about this ad-infinitum. They brought in a few vets during FA and even Dwan Edwards is a young vet. Everyone else they have are young guys. They didn't bring in a whole lot of long-toothed veterans for a reason. They want to develop the youth they already have.
  12. Eat your vegetables! don't hate doing legs; see leg work as keeping your body in balance. I used to hate doing legs too and would do less legs than upper body work and it caused all types of knee pain. That convinced me to get in better balance.
  13. Not to debate with you just offering a different take; what you say can be true, but those problems usually occur when folks don't build up the strength and stamina in their legs and back first. I see it at the gym all the time; guys want to put the most weight on and do their reps. Even though they might be able to do a particular weight they may not have developed the muscle strength to deal with the after effects of that weight, then they start to develop knee and back problems. Nothing done on a machine will give a better result than using free weight IMO. After a while out of the gym I fell into this trap and started getting a sore knee. Started using lighter weight to build strength back up in the muscle surrounding the knee. Then eventually once I did, what is for me, heavier weight my knee was fine. If I recall correctly when Gailey changed the weight room around they also ordered new equipment (more free weights) and there was a comment about machines being taken out. Machine's, to me, are good for sustaining strength, but not so much building it once a lifter has reached a certain strength plateau.
  14. There is no leeway needed. It's voluntary. When he misses something mandatory then go ahead and complain.
  15. Have you or anyone else wondered how a man with motivational issues made it to play in the NFL? Or how a lazy guy is a starting OT in the NFL? Or how a lazy guy is a good starting OT in the NFL? Don't believe the work ethic hype. Gaither can play and has played well. The Bills can use a good OT. His work ethic issues seem to me, to be will he be satisfied to be good or will he realize a potential that could see him be a great OT. He's already good. Just watch the tape.
  16. There is no perspective needed. No need to ask that man a question like that about his mother. Period. If she were a prostitute then what? Will that have an impact on his football skills or is she going to be playing for the Dolphins? If yes, in spite of the fact that he has no criminal record himself, would this make him "undraftable"? If that's the case then why bother to interview him at all? Take him off your board and keep it moving. If he had punched Irelandit in his mouth it would have been fine by me. Bryant has no criminal record yet folks are acting like he's done something criminal, been in and out of court, etc... Being a flake or irresponsible is not good, but does not make one a danger to society or a criminal.
  17. How dare you speak common sense on this board! Line was bad last year, in large part, because injuries prevented continuity. You have to pick up a guy off the street on Monday and start him the next Sunday odds are breakdowns will happen everywhere. First couple games against N.E. and TB the line did okay. Yeah, even Bell.
  18. That's not a problem at all. A team can never have enough good players. At any position. Let things play out. There's no reason to give Lynch away whether he wants to be there or not. He's the employee not the owner. He has no power in the situation unless he wants to sit out and that's fine. We have other good backs. He will show up when he has to. No big deal. And when are people going to get it through their heads that Nix says what he means and does what he says he will do? He said Lynch is going nowhere and Lynch has gone nowhere. He also said how he would build the team and gave indications what he would do in free agency and the draft. If one was paying attention to his pre-draft press conference, once Williams and Okung were gone, they should not have been surprised at the Spiller pick.
  19. They didn't reach for an OT in Rd. 1 and they didn't take an OT in Rd. 2. That should tell you what they think of him compared to what they could have drafted at least.
  20. Lord have mercy, if one more of you says Spiller is a third down back... The dude is a RB who can do multiple things well and be used in multiple ways. But he is a RB. Did you watch his games at all? They don't need Spiller to sell tickets. They sell out every game already and will sell out this year too, even if they had drafted an OT. They drafted Spiller because, as Nix said and we all know, the Bills need players who can put the ball in the end zone and gain large chunks of yardage as well as create match up issues for the opposing defense. Spiller does all of those things at a high level. I don't get how folks have a problem with that. If Okung or Williams was there at 9, fine. But you see where Bulaga went in the draft. You see where Dan Williams went in the draft. Why is that? The Bills are the only team that didn't think they were worth being drafted that high? And I have no problem with them passing on Davis either. He's too risky. The guys Nix drafted, all of them, are said to be high motor, hard working guys that can also play the game well.
  21. What a ridiculous comparison. Light was engaged during a play with a guy who was also throwing punches. Blount sucker punched a guy after the game was over. He shouldn't have hit the dude, but it wasn't a sucker punch. You get in someone's face running at the mouth during an emotionally charged situation you should be prepared for a reaction.
  22. Then don't. But cut the whining like a girl. Come on here and tell us why they are inept? Because they focused on Defensive lineman who can help stop the gashing they took the past SEVERAL YEARS in the run game? You didn't mind the Jets rushing for over Two hundred yds? TWICE. Or Miami? They only get one pick per round. They got a guy who can score from anywhere on the field in a variety of ways, something they haven't had in decades. Sue them for that. They take two big defensive linemen who specialize in run stopping. Sounds good to me.
  23. Why would you be any less nervous about receiver if they drafted one? Hardy and Johnson are young but know what the game is about. It's time they got their chance. We might just like what we get.
  24. You don't know what you're talking about. He can play on any down and from multiple spots on the field.
