NFL Network rescheduled BUF/CIN replay
purple haze replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
ilemi.com is a good site for games. watched the colts game there last week. -
Why do you believe they will have payroll issues after this season? Where do you get that from? Nix has already talked about their method of operation. Build through the draft. Obtain low cost FA's to fill specific holes and pay their own players that have done well for the team and continue to build around them. So far Buddy has done everything he said he will do. I don't see paying upcoming FA Bills being any different if their play merits it. You don't know that they need a LT. Would you let Bell play first. If he hasn't significantly improved from last season then I'm with you. But I think Bell has the physical capability to be a very good LT. He needs experience.
-
Yeah they were rookies and Bell was a second year player in name only. People forget how little football this guy has played in his life. What two years of college? And he had the same"crappy" coaching. Yet everybody wants to run him out of town. It's not over the top to tell the truth. I like Levitre and Wood. They both have good physical talents and I expect them to play better and be very good players. But they were average last year. That's all I'm saying. They weren't all pros. And it's there on the tapes to prove it. I expect Bell to play better as well. He has the athleticism to be successful at OT.. He's played less football than Levitre or Wood. He didn't even go to college to play football. So you talk about them gaining more expeirence. Bell needs that too. All I'm saying is why is it folks want to run him out of town and Levitre and Wood are in a similar boat.
-
What he did last year was similar. Watch the tapes. He was average last year. Just like Wood was average. They showed potential, but neither of them were the undeniable beasts many want to make them out to be. It's funny how they mess up and it's overlooked. An OT messes up and they are the worst thing in the world and we HAVE to get new OT's. Our Interior OL had their share of plays that got Jax and Lynch roughed up in the backfield and Trent roughed up before he could throw, including Hangartner. Whole line has to play better than last year. ALL of them.

KC Chiefs - Dorsey and Jackson
purple haze replied to tecmobowlbills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
EVERY team in the league drafts players that don't pan out for whatever reason. EVERY team. Has always been that way and will continue to be that way. How is Chad Jackson on the Bills? He tanked in New England. I could go on and on. Maybin might or he might not. That's life. -
My friend, nobody stopped their right to free speech. They freely spoke out. Chan Gailey freely told them what he didn't like and the consequences for it. I'm sure for Gailey to go over there in the first place these particular hecklers must have been over the top. People have the right to say what they want. Other people have the right to respond. nobody took them off to jail for saying things. They just didn't get autographs and the truth of that is the players are under no obligation to give autographs to fans. None at all. I happened to go to Cowboys camp yesterday and three players came over after practice and signed for the fans. THREE. And none of them a starter. People need to remember these guys are at work. Yes it's sports. But it is their job. People need to treat people the way they want to be treated. Bottom line.
-
We do have every right to boo. But why the hell would you go out of your way to go to a training camp practice you went to for free and bother a man while he is at work, getting ready for a game? People seem to forget these guys are at work. Why bother him there? Boo at the game if he srews up, but not while he's preparing for a game. It would be like booing a band during sound check. It's counterproductive. He is the QB for now so let him get his work in in peace. There isn't another QB coming right this second.

Left Tackle with our First Pick next year
purple haze replied to Nasty's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Did it dawn on anybody that D. Bell might actually play well and we won't need to draft a LT? That's what we all should be hoping for so the team can concentrate on other positions like OLB. -
Where's all the MAYBIN defenders?
purple haze replied to bills in va's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Right here. This is his second season. Everyone knew he would have to be developed. He's switching positions. He needs to step it up and play better. He's also said he needs to play better which I give him credit for. At least he's not whining like you and others on this board. Stop it. Orakpo and Oher are on other teams. They ain't coming to give you your wet dream. I can imagine if you hadn't been on the board crying I could have not wasted two minutes of my day. Your post is a BUST. -
Some very pointed opinions on the Bills:
purple haze replied to metzelaars_lives's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Then you don't trade a very good NFL RB for a 4th round pick. What are you smoking? Let him play and raise his value. But I still don't get why folks want to trade him. If he's playing well he can be dominant. Let go of the get rid of Lynch philosophy. Have you played QB in the NFL? If you have then I will take your word for your ability. If not, get off Edwards back. He made a good play. He's not great. He's inconsistent. He might not be the QB in Buffalo past this season. But you ain't Trent Edwards or even sorry Ryan Fitzpatrick. If you were you would be playing in the league. -
I'm drinking what you're drinking. Only thing Brohm has going for him is nobody has seen much of him. Gailey had no allegiance to Edwards, Fitz or Brohm when he came in. They started even went through OTA's, Mini-camps and preseason practices and Edwards was chosen as the fron runner. There is a reason for that. Brohm didn' perform as well.
-
True. But he has to earn fans trust with consistency. He can't go belly up next week against the Bengals. But you are right at this point people just will not buy into him as a default position. I heard people dogging the Oline after the game. They weren't perfect and never will be nor will any other teams line be perfect. All will give up sacks and or pressure. Aaron Rodgers got sacked. I've seen Romo sacked and Favre too. Newsflash, if the Bills had have run some blitzes in the first quarter Manning was ripe for the plucking. The line has done ok. Not great, but they look better than last year when every play was a jail break. I thought D. Bell did well against Freeney in particular. But there were folks who said he didn't play well. Until they win it will be unreasonable on the boards.

CNN/SI Story - Bills Trounce Colts

And notice how all they had to was play well and win to get something positive said about them. It's all about playing well and winning. -
Wow -- Some things in this game impressed me
purple haze replied to Pine Barrens Mafia's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Brohm looked okay. But Edwards led the team to 14 points against Indianapolis' starters. Brohm led the team to three points against indy's back-ups. How does he FEEL better outside of you are tired of Edwards (which I can understand). But being tired of Edwards does not make Brohm the better QB and if he were the better QB he would be starting. He's had all offseason, OTA's and Minicamps to impress and he didn't enough to be the starter. -
Offensive Line play through the first three possessions
purple haze replied to timba's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You watched that game tonight and thought the OT were bad? Outside of Green giving up that hit on Trent I don't see what you saw. Bell actually looked pretty good. Freeney wasn't too involved in the game. No sacks. I think some of you just won't let last season go (and yeah last season was terrible on the Oline). So far this pre season no sacks that I've seen. Better than last season already with time to get even better. -
D. Bell. Time to give him some credit. He kept Freeney off of Trent. Looked fluid and athletic. Good start for a guy who hasn't balled in 8 months.
-
How do you arrive at this conclusion? If this were true he would have been outcompeting Trent in OTA's, minicamps and up to this point in camp and from all reports that has been far from the case. Wanting and deserving it are two different things anyway.
-
They were 5-7 last season and have new, first time head coach introducing a new offense to a team that lost a lot of starters. Why should they be rated any higher? Besides that, it's not where they start it's where they finish.

Gailey already blaming O-Line
purple haze replied to bills in va's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You assume a lot. The Bills backups didn't give up any starts in DC and they ran the ball well too. What are you complaining about already? At least wait for them to give up some sacks before you start whining. -
Gailey already blaming O-Line

And they still gave up NO SACKS. -
Gailey already blaming O-Line
purple haze replied to bills in va's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Jammal Brown's hip had him out of the lineup as of a week ago. Adams is not doing all that well in Pittsburgh. McNeil is not available, at least not yet. Gaither is out injured too. Bulaga is in Green Bay playing GUARD. Anthony Davis had serious work ethic issues. So who did you want them to get again? No line is going to be perfect. The QB has to get the ball out and make a play. -
Gailey said the question was if he would be back for the beginning of the season. Sounds like he's already made the team. They won't cut him.
-
First of all it's about the game not the money. Evans is open and that's with being double teamed constantly. Him and TO had similar numbers last year. Why is it that neither had a big year? They were never open? Whatever, dude. We need the OL to block, a QB to throw the ball and coaches to call the right plays. When Bledsoe was in B-Lo Evans didn't have any trouble getting open did he?

"Build Through The Draft" is a salary cap strategy
purple haze replied to Coach Tuesday's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Building through the draft is the way most teams focus on doing things. You can draft more players than you can sign free agents. What are you going to do sign 53 free agents? You draft players and let them grow into the system in place. You don't overpay for what could very well be little in return. You can get free agents, but they won't comprise a majority of any teams roster. A team is better off drafting well. Those are young players who will grow and like Nix said, and thank God he did, a team should resign players who play well for them so you don't constantly have to replace them. -
Rob Riddick was decent. So was Ronnie (yeah, he blew it in Cleveland, but he made a lot of catches too). They were nowhere near as bad as the others on your list. The others were complete wastes of time. Anyway, I'm running a 3-4 defense and a running based offense. 1. Bruce Smith - Need a dominant DE who can play run and rush passer. Could be Reggie White here too. 2. Mike Singletary - Need a QB in the middle of the D and one who will bring fire to everyone. 3. Mike Webster - need a rugged player in the middle to set the tone for the entire line. 4. O.J. Simpson - World class speed, sick moves, power, great vision and balance. Can get me 1 yard or 99.
