  1. Wouldn't this be the case regardless of Wannstedt coming or not? The Bills didn't stop the run before Edwards showed up. This has been a problem for the past few seasons. And there were a lot of folks ready to run Fewell out of town, said he was in over his head. Then they saw that the defense played hard, but lacked talent. Fewell goes to the Giants and for the most part do very well defensively. Why? Talent. If Wannstedt came and the talent was the same the Bills run D would STILL be terrible. Instead of sweating over DW sweat Nix getting more talent in the building and not just through the draft. I wouldn't mind DW being with the team, but perspective is needed. He's not a miracle worker any more than Edwards or Gailey are.
  2. No, they can't resign him. The blurb is accurate from other reporting I have seen. You can't assume what they would or would not do based on shifting money to signing bonuses and what not. What if that left them in a bad position down the line. We aren't salary cap experts.
  3. He's already done all of this. See the Alabama game?
  4. They drafted him not just for this season, but future one's as well. I think some of us fans are being way too myopic about what the draft is. Would Spiller having a more impactful year been welcomed? Yes. If he had a great year this year and did nothing else in his career would people be happy? No. It's a marathon not a sprint in spite of the prevailing sentiments of today's immediate gratification society. Spiller is twenty two or three years old. It's not a Maybin situation where we never saw his talent displayed in preseason or regular season. Spiller did show some good things. Let time tell the tale instead of saying it was a wasted pick. Nobody on the board at that point was rated higher than Spiller. It was the right decision to make. And they should make that decision this season as well. They need elite athletes all over the place and Spiller is that. He has a good chance of paying off in the long run. Watch the last several games. Spiller was running between the tackles. LaGarette Blount's running style will wear him out three or four years from now just like Marion Barber's. When Spiller is doing well I hope all of you who were saying these things don't say you knew it all along. LoL
  5. Nobody truly knows the truth of what's going on behind the scenes. But I find it strange anybody would be surprised that a man who owns a business wouldn't talk to the people he hired to manage the company. If Mr. Wilson wasn't talking to the coach I would find that strange and almost negligent. Because he talks to the coach does not mean he doesn't allow them to do their jobs. End of the day Coaches have plenty of time to prepare a game plan even if they spend a couple hours on the phone with Mr. Wilson and are made to give an accounting as to why the team performed in a certain way. The rest is just excuses. I have yet to work in a company where the owner is expected to have no access to his directors or anybody else they want to talk to.
  6. All the time. In fact one of the reasons people liked him was because he was difficult to bring down. It took groups of players to bring him to the ground. One guy rarely tackled him.
  7. I read he was a FA. And I totally agree with you. He's definitely on my wish list. There are levels of "big signings." Kevin Boss won't break anybody's bank. But he could make a huge impact for the Bills.
  8. What if they get a DE and OLB during Free Agency? It's too early to say what we don't want in the draft. Don't know how people will perform in the post season workouts. Don't know who all is declaring for the draft. Don't know what the Bills might or might not do in FA. A lot of variables between now and April. And unless Mallet has a great combine/pro day he is nowhere near worth the third pick in the draft. Nowhere near.
  9. Glad you aren't a scout. One half of one game and you're having an open mind?? Dude has been a stud for two years and one half of one game crosses him off your list? You're a hard audience. LoL
  10. As it should be. Not intelligent to cut Maybin now. He was just drafted two years ago and he has a pocketful of money. Might as well see if he can turn it around. If he doesn't look good in TC you will get your wish.
  11. Disagree. A team should play their QB when he is ready to play. Putting him in too soon could lead to a busted pick down the line. Fans have got to get out of this NOW NOW NOW mentality. An organization will be playing football years after they draft a player. The sooner they can play the better, but playing them when they are ready is a better operating procedure.
  12. LoL. I hope not. Gary is resting in peace. Hopefully Cam will be alive for years to come.
  13. He has a questionable work ethic and intangibles? Who told you that? http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/bowls10/columns/story?columnist=maisel_ivan&id=5993420 I guess his teammates and coaches are liars then. But we all know you have inside info that not even his coaches and teammates have about him.
  14. Then your team would keep losing. End of the day, it's about talent. Not saying they should or shouldn't get VY, but he does have talent. He has won games. He has led the Titans to come back wins in the 4th. He has led the Titans to the playoffs. He has a lot of warts too. But you keep plugging away with average talent you get what we as Bills fans have suffered through for ten years. Enough of the hardworking average guys people feel so good about. They are just good enough to get the team nowhere.
  15. Then I don't what games you watched. He's been very accurate all over the field this season not just deep balls. That Redskins Monday night game he carved them up everywhere.
  16. Why? Bills need elite players pretty much everywhere. They have an okay secondary not a great one. And Florence is a FA. Youbody is a FA. Corner is a nickel CB not a starter. McGee has been banged up the past couple seasons. So a CB will probably be taken in this draft. Why not an elite one? If there is an actual FA period this year the Bills could address the front 7 during that time. It would free them up to use that #3 pick in a variety of ways. I prefer a DL/OLB at #3. But if they took a Peterson or Amukamara I wouldn't be terribly upset. They could probably trade down three or four spots and still get Amukamara. I wouldn't say skill players are always around, but building the lines would be good. But that doesn't have to come at the top of the draft.
  17. Wouldn't or couldn't move in the pocket either. He was a sitting duck.
  18. If the Bills traded all of that they are crazy. I understand why folks are in love with Luck, but he's not worth giving away all those picks. He is no guarantee. No player in the draft is a guarantee. Take Bowers, Fairley, Dareus or maybe Quinn or trade down for more picks. Or trade back up into the first round and grab a QB there. But don't give away picks. A first next year? Nix already said he wants to build through the draft. I doubt he's trying to give away future first rounders.
  19. Fairley, Bowers, Dareus, Quinn, Peterson or Trade down to get extra picks.
  20. Merriman has a pedigree the other players in the locker room don't have for the most part; even with all of his injuries the past couple seasons. Besides, what you say only bares truth if they don't resign some of the other veterans. Also you have to look at the amount of money the contract was for. Merriman got a contract with a lot of incentives. If Whitner wants to sign for 5 million he could have it tomorrow. Poz has to wait until after the season because of the 30% rule. Florence has a good chance of returning as well. The thing Merriman's signing does, along with Moats development and Batten's return is lets the Bills go DL or DB or QB with that first pick.
  21. You wouldn't be able to draft most of the players in college then. Go to the local hospital and draft babies because they would be the only human beings who have never done anything wrong. Selling one's own property and getting in trouble for it strikes me as asinine. Don't want Pryor because he's not that good a QB. That's the only reason. The rest makes him no better or worse than anyone else.
  22. Why not take Spiller? Their offense was near the bottom as well. Add no excitement and near the bottom. Spiller will pay off eventually.
  23. Re-editing. Thank you for the spell check.
  24. Webb was QB at UAB. Vikes switched him to WR then switched him back when they saw him throwing the rock before practice.
