  1. I hear you, but if they don't find some pass rush he ain't going to bring a thing different than Edwards.
  2. I'm pretty certain George Edwards and all of the other coaches meet with Mr. Wilson. He's paying them. Why do you think he wouldn't meet them? That's just standard business operations. And a guy who is as involved as Mr. Wilson is you know he meets anybody he's paying.
  3. Working conditions are better? That's why they just fired their President and GM? Maybe their coach? Their number one pick could tank. Their veteran QB might not play again. The Ralph will be renovated and modernized soon enough. If Gailey doesn't produce Whaley's first year as GM might be hiring his own coach. But why would he need to do that if Gailey gets it done. Folks put way too much stock in some of these things. Most GM's are hired as a coach is also fired. The Bills are already in the middle of their rebuild of which Whaley has been a part from year one. I'm sure Whaley would love to keep Gailey because the team has taken the next step in the plan that was set-up when he was brought in. He knows the organization. Also, because his name is on a list doesn't mean he is a legitimate candidate for the job. Call it a "wish" list he's on more than a reality based list. Typical Bills fans always go to negative places. The grass is always greener everywhere else. Assume everybody would want to be anywhere else. None of us know Whaley or anyone else. He hasn't resigned so he must be okay with things. The grass is not necessarily greener anywhere else and you shouldn't assume someone feels the same way you do. The Bills organization gave him a promotion and training to achieve his ultimate goal of being a GM. You think he will just walk now? Doubt it. Nix probably is going to step away from being a GM after the draft and become a consultant to football operations. Whaley is the next GM sooner than later.
  4. First, Watch Whaley's interview from last year on the Bills website. He already said him and Nix have similar philosophy about draft picks and building through the draft to create a sustained, strong team. Second, how was Nix a waste of two years? Spiller is the goods, Carrington starts, Nelson plays as much as a starter, Dareus, Williams, Sheppard, Hairston, Searcy all started games and looked good at times or better. Rogers got a lot of time and looked good. Johnny and Chris White were both contributors on special teams. That's a lot of draft picks making contributions pretty much right away. He signed Urbik and Rhinehart off practice squads. Both of them were 3rd round picks. Urbik starts and plays fairly well at two positions. Rhinehart is decent depth. He signed Pears. Pears held up fairly well. You aren't paying attention. Stop getting caught up in the 12 year playoff drought. Nix was in charge for two years. And there are a lot of players going forward who look like they can play. Remember how the team was when he got there? There was a lot of turnover that had to happen. Rebuilds take time. The 10 years before he got there aren't his fault.
  5. Go back and watch Whaley's interview on the Bills' website. He already said he and Nix's philosohpy is similar.
  6. He took the job to help get the organization "organized" and going in the right direction. Whaley was brought in soon after. It was fairly clear that Nix was not going to be there for long and Whaley was the one being groomed to take over. Nix retiring isn't a surprise. And some of those UDFA's have been decent players. 2011 draft picks played well at times and look good going forward. Spiller, I need say no more. Nix has done what he was brought in to do as well as help train his replacement, a man who is 40 or 41. So no more Bills senior citizens jokes on the boards. What do you think they've been doing? They've drafted a lot on both lines. They've drafted defense. They've taken chances with playmakers (Spiller/Santonio Holmes). Bills are on the right track. It's been 12 years for the fans. It's been two for Nix and co. And they had to start almost from scratch.
  7. Jeffrey can play. Michael Floyd from Notre Dame might be even better. End of the day if Blackmon is 6'1 who cares? That's not short by any means. Folks need to stop worrying about physical attributes more than can a player play. Steve Smith is 5'9. Would you take him on the other side of Stevie? Darren Sproles in 5'7 and he is arguably the Saints most important player outside Drew Brees. Can a guy make plays is all that matters. The rest is gravy.
  8. Barnett has the athleticism to move outside.
  9. Meachem, Mannhingham and Garcon are distinct possibilities. Good talent. Young. Fills a need. And shouldn't cost an exorbitant amount of money. Any one of these three would be perfect for the speed threat the Bills need. And I wouldn't be surprised if Nix makes a play for one of them.
  10. Nothing wrong with switching to the 34 defense at all. The 43 players they had weren't good enough. The defense needed upgrading and still does. Anyway, they have been playing a multiple front defense the entire season with a lot of 43 looks. It's not a big deal like folks are trying to make it out to be. It's not about the scheme. It's about the players. The Bills D stunk whatever front they played because they didn't have enough good players to pass rush. And if they don't get some players who can do that we will be here next season talking about Wanny should be fired.
  11. They don't need a LT. Blackmon or Jeffrey will be day one starters wherever they go. Coples could be.
  12. 7.5 million is not a lot of money at all. It's middle of the pack money. If the dude was asking for 9-10 million it would be different. There is no reason not to pay him that. Some other team will definitely give him that little bit of nothing. He's young. He's a good player. He plays hurt. He has a good work ethic. He will get paid easily. It's not even a question.
  13. No he didn't. You all are way too emotional. He will get paid by someone what his play dictates he should be paid. He won't lose out on the money you think he will. NFL teams want good, young players. Johnson is that. The money will find him quickly.
  14. He's going higher than that whether Jones or RGIII come out or not.
  15. No you don't. There are very good players at every point in the draft. The GM has to pick the right one. And the coaches have to develop them.
  16. Nix doesn't believe in trading up. Forget that. We need to wrap our minds around Upshaw, Coples, Kirkpatrick or if they did go WR maybe Alshon Jeffrey or Michael Floyd. To answer the question, if both RGIII and Blackmon are available, I take RGIII all day and twice on sunday.
  17. 7 million a year would put him in the middle tier of WR's not the top 10.
  18. No it wouldn't. See the N.E. game in September. Fans will show up when motivated. Bills stunk in November, lost a chance at the playoffs. Games shouldn't be sold out in December. It's been too many years of no playoffs. But a few years ago they sold more season tickets than they had in twenty years. If Bills had playoffs on the line the Ralph would be sold out even if it was a snow storm folks had to sit in.
  19. So is Justin Rogers and he looks real good.
  20. He's been pretty good in coverage from what I see. Yeah, he's been beat a few times like any other CB. But he's not getting lit up by any means. Definitely looks like he belongs out there.
  21. Lynch can't do what CJ can do on a regular basis. Fred was approaching 30. And neither Lynch nor Fred have CJ's long speed or quickness. He was a different type RB than either of them. The Bills now have a home run threat whenever he touches the rock. It's simple. Those players are not easy to find. It's easier to find a Bulaga to play RT than a guy with Spiller's athleticism and running ability. And obviously the Bills brass, i.e. Nix was planning for the possibility of Lynch's departure. It all makes sense now and made sense then. Bills needed dynamic, playmaking talent. They got it. No reason to complain about the pick. It's easy to look at how other players are panning out and say we should've taken player x. Player X could have been a bust. Playing ability, coaching, organization and timing all play a part in a player's success. Lynch was okay with the Bills. I liked him a lot. He's doing much better things in Seattle though. Maybin stunk with the Bills. He's serviceable in his limited role with the Jets. Drayton Florence was terrible in Jacksonville. He's made a lot of positive plays for the Bills.
  22. I don't wish he was on our team right now. Not as a QB. Good person and good player are two different things. And unless he learns to throw the ball infinitely better than he currently does he won't win all that many games. Bills won because their offense beat Denver's defense and they took away that running game and made Tebow have to beat them with his arm which he couldn't do consistently. I thnk part of his problem is throwing mechanics and a larger part is inability to read coverage.
  23. The Bills have to address their defense. Mr. Wilson is right though. They could use an upgrade around Fitz. Specifically, a WR who can stretch the field. So March will be a big month for the Bills. They can get a speed WR in FA. If so they can use the draft for defense. If not, they need to go heavy in FA on defense. My bet? They re-sign Stevie AND grab another WR in FA. It's easier to grab one WR than several defensive pieces.
  24. Gailey is going nowhere. Love Fisher. Edwards had some of his teams in the playoffs. He wasn't all bad by far. Would be a great college coach.
  25. It worked perfectly. The Bills made out like bandits moneywise. That's all it was about. Money. Establishing a base in Toronto with corporations and creating more fans.
