  1. Freeman has been at CBSsports website for quite a while. You not hearing about him is on you. That said, he's not the only one who speculated about Smith winding up with the Bills. Ian Rappaport of NFL.com also mentioned that possibility. Check out his WGR interview from this a.m. And there is a good chance the Bills will need a stop gap. Fitz won't be that QB more than likely. He could split loyalties in the locker room if they kept him around. Smith isn't so great, true enough, but he doesn't have Fitz's baggage in Buffalo. Meaning he hasn't stunk it up for the Bills and he has played good enough to help his team to the playoffs. And if they decide a young guy is better the players won't be split like they might with Fitz. I'm sure the Bills will draft a QB, but there is no guarantee that player is ready to play from opening day in spite of our desire as fans for that to be the case. Got to cover all the bases.
  2. Because his Defense caused a lot of havoc. And he's well regarded in league circles. Also, the Cardinals only fired Whisenhunt and the offensive staff. The Defensive staff was not relieved of duty. And Horton has a second interview with the Cardinals it's been reported. Must be impressing in interviews. http://profootballta...dinals/related/
  3. I think the opposite. They aren't ready to talk. Question is, why? Something is brewing and they'd rather say nothing.
  4. Wasn't trying to be mean to you San Jose. Just making an analogy. The "you" I referred to was figurative not literal.
  5. Has nothing to do with what the Bills would do. They tried both Gruden and Cowher in '09. They didn't want the gig. Gruden and Cowher are like hollywood starlets. You can approach them and try to get something going, but in reality, they choose you, not the other way around. And they have better options than you.
  6. He might be right though. At this point the silence at OBD, especially after a firing, is not a good sign for Nix.
  7. Grimm is well respected in the league. Cast a wide net. No issues with him being interviewed.
  8. I don't know how you arrived at that conclusion from what he said. Norv Turner is nowhere near as accomplished a head coach as Lovie Smith. Not even close. 9 years with one organization 81-63. Average of 9 wins per season. Playoff appearances. Two NFC championship games. One Super Bowl. Teams were consistently competitive. Defenses amongst the best in the league year in and year out. I'm not saying he should be hired. But he wouldn't be a bad one by far.
  9. Smith would be a good hire. Defense would be aggressive and effective. Would need to hire a good OC though.
  10. Embrace the pain Devon. You might feel a lot of it. Welcome in.
  11. They need to draft two QB's and sign a vet FA. Should find a legit starter out of the three.
  12. I'm cool with Nix staying. Gailey? I would go berserk to say the least.
  13. Nix has done a lot of good things. Simple as that. And I'm very sure about Dareus.
  14. You aren't alone. I agree w/you, provided he will fire Gailey. Nix has done enough good things to stick around. Don't play that 20/20 hindsight game. Nix's reasons for drafting who he drafted were sound. And Dareus is a good player. Stop it.
  15. Rules are weighted toward offensive success. You can't tackle. You can't touch the QB. DB's can't look at WR's. Defense was bound to get bad. Some defenses can overcome it, but they all suffer from too many ticky-tack rules.
  16. Because they aren't fans of the Bills and have low self esteem. 32 HC jobs in the NFL. Bills can find better than Gailey. And even if we lived in your world where nobody would ever come coach in B-Lo, Gailey has earned his dismissal and should go.
  17. Hmmmm... Doug Whaley played at Pitt. Jon Gruden was an asst. coach at Pitt in '91. Same time Whaley was there.
  18. He's in charge of player personnel so any vet that they get can be linked to him. Urbik, Rhinehart, Kyle Moore, etc.
  19. Agreed, we do need a real coach. But hey, don't speak so negatively. A 25 year old could be closer to the end than you. None of us know what the future holds.
  20. If they get a real QB the rebuilding is over in the way we've become accustomed to it.
  21. Everything you mentioned has to do with COACHING. So if I'm a coach, yes I would enlist. Only 32 NFL jobs in the world. Most coaches probably don't have the low self-esteem many Bills fans exhibit.
  22. If this were to happen JK isn't taking over for Russ Brandon. Everyone in the organization and, JK himself, have said the regionalization of the team is necessary and has been successful. JK would be involved with football decisions. And if this were to happen, make no mistake, future ownership more likely than not plays a role.
  23. Yeah. Chan Gailey is his name.
  24. Barkley? How many SC games have you watched? I live in SoCal. If you think Barkley is a definite you will be disappointed. I'd take Smith all day over him based on arm strength, athleticism and accuracy alone. RGIII can stand in the pocket too. He just has the running ability that is so good a coach would be foolish not to exploit it. But RGIII is every bit a guy who can and will stand in the pocket.
  25. Stop the insanity. And Merry Christmas.
