  1. Already have him. His name is Robert Woods.
  2. 1. He still made some plays out there even while hobbling. 2. The coach is in charge, not SJ. Marrone could have pulled him out, if he so chose. Marrone wants tough dudes and in the NFL dudes have to play hurt and still make plays. Be happy we have a team that is showing to be capable of that; from FredEx to Thad to Stevie to Spiller to Lawson. They play through hurts and contribute in big and small ways. With limited roster numbers on game day (47 players), having a guy out is crushing. Especially when the situation would leave more young backups on the field with our young backup QB.
  3. Thad has been around the league. He is a young vet. He doesn't have a lot of game experience, but he has been in the league on rosters before this season. He's got a strong arm, he's gritty, good mobility. He also has seen things EJ has not seen before. I judge a cieling and a floor by looking at their performance. EJ is playing commensurately with Thad and Thad has been in the league a few more years. Simple as that. Leinart's cieling was low because he did not put in the work and he was not known for putting in the extra work the great QB's do. Leaf had off-field concerns before he was even drafted. That tells me there is a cieling there under the wrong circumstances and sure enough... Thad is a good backup, but he doesn't have EJ's potential, based on physical dimension. You name me Thad's best quality and EJ has more of it and he's only a rookie. This ain't rocket science and it's no disrepect intended to Thad, who I loved at Duke. He's the guy you love as the backup QB. A good soldier. Corageous. Capable of making plays and keeping a team in the game. Just like a good backup does. EJ can win a team a game. See the Carolina game for an example.
  4. LoL. Thad is a veteran. He should see some things on the field better. But you all act like Thad is leading the Bills dominant wins. Each game he's played has been close, and the QB play is gritty, but inconsistent. Just like when EJ was starting. But EJ, being a rookie, is at his floor. Thad is near his cieling. BIG DIFFERENCE. I like Thad and what he brings and believe we have our backup QB. But EJ is the starter and should be.
  5. Flacco threw the ball all day so, due to volume, he had over three hundred yards. He is a pro QB. If they throw the ball 50 times and run it 9 you would think he would be able to get some yards. But his completition percentage was around 50%. That is a terrible percentage. Bills were good in coverage yesterday outside a few breakdowns. And downfield coverage was consistently good too. Forced Flacco to take chances and it led to a couple of those INT's. More to the game than stats. They don't always tell the entire story.
  6. Byrd said on BB.com it was his decision and when he's ready he will play. Searcy and Williams and Leonhard didn't look bad at all yesterday.
  7. Ridley did drop the ball. But he was in the process of regaining control. Alonso(?) hit him and made it stay a loose ball. Searcy was in position and grabbed it. Not a forced fumble in the traditional sense, but they were in position to make the play. And Ridley dropped the ball bc he was trying to avoid Alonso who was filling that gap. It was a good defensive play all in all.
  8. Not necessarily. It could be that he likes him a lot. Which is why he cut him. Years ago, Cris Carter had many issues during his time in Philadelphia. Buddy Ryan eventually cut him from the Eagles. Ryan said he loved Cris Carter and he did it to try to get him to wake up and turn his life around. Sometimes the people who like you the most will give you the tough love you don't want. Hopefully DR will do well with his new opportunity.
  9. If this is true, who would you rather them sign that would be any better at this point? He KNOWS THE DEFENSE they are running in six days... Makes sense from that perspective. Wouldn't be signing him to be a starter and be an All Pro for years. Would sign him to get through these early games at least.
  10. I think after Kolb got hurt, and not having another QB, Hackett and staff decided to keep things somewhat simple. Receivers were running open everywhere. Why single out McKelvin? Rogers, Brooks, Williams, Searcy were out there too, making Grossman and White look like starters. After he ran backwards and took that sack when he could have slid in the pocket I was done. EJ has to be the QB. He's the only arm that Graham can't outrun.
  11. Thanks for sharing. My condolences and prayers to you.
  12. You mean, like, a regular bike? Like a huffy or something? That's a hell of a trip for a 14 year old. Kids today won't even ride around the corner. Too busy playing Playstation and Xbosx. lol Times have changed...
  13. Why does it have to be he's not as good as advertised or that he's smoking dope? He's a rookie. Not all of them "get it" right away. Some are Robert Woods others are not. He only played one year at Tennessee then at D2 Tennessee Tech. He's jut getting outplayed by more consistent vets. From the reports, he's flashed his potential at times. I think Rogers winds up with a phantom injury and winds up on IR. He wouldn't be able to practice, but he would be able to do everything else, much like Easley did. IR is the only way to ensure he's not scooped off waivers if they try to sneak him on the PS and the only way to keep all the players who earned their spot, but keeping Rogers potential in WNY.
  14. I'm glad he was impressive. But he's far from the only one. Most professional athletes don't get in trouble. We just hear about the percentage that do b/c it sells more mags, increases hits on websites and makes people tune in.
  15. You don't have to abandon anything. But I don't think the days of justice, equality and fairness ever existed like you make it out to be. This world has been corrupt for thousands of years. And there are various groups of people, throughout history and geographical location, who could legitimately argue your justice, equality and fairness viewpoint. And when I hear fans complain about today's players I never understand it. You take the few players you hear about and forget about the hundreds who do nothing but go to work and not get into trouble. It's like those players don't exist. There are many more of them than the other types. That being said, in ANY industry in this world, talent is given a longer leash. The ability to perform, i.e. make someone money, is not taken lightly by CEO's, managers, supervisors, etc. End of day, especially in a capitalist society, those that produce money will get extra chances that someone, who might be a "good" person, but unproductive in comparison, would not get. Look at Mickey Mantle. If he were Mickey Mantle playing today he would be all over the cover of blogs, newspapers and cable news. Babe Ruth too and probably many athletes who folks look at as being products of a "better" time. There's just more scrutiny today so you hear about things now that journalists left to the private lives of those involved back in the day.
  16. Where do you get that from? He's never said he didn't want to play in BLo. It seems more fans assuming that's the case because he has stayed quiet and won't sign for less. He's earned his money. Bills should pay him.
  17. Byrd is far from average and saying that's all he does is not accurate. But out of a Free Safety IF all he did was create turnovers I could live with that. And so would any team in the league. He also has played the run very well the past couple seasons. He deserves top money. Why are you saying his agent is a POS? Eugene Parker is doing his job. His job is to get his client what the CLIENT WANTS. You act as if Byrd is just sitting there while Parker decides what Byrd should do with his business concerns. He works for Byrd, not the other way around. Just like he worked for Peters and dozens of other players. Parker's job is not to engratiate himself to us fans. It's business, not personal. I can find plays when Ed Reed and Troy Polamalu screwed the pooch too. In the pass and the run game. It's a game. 100% of players make mistakes and 100% don't make every play available to be made. Even the HOF's. Doesn't mean Byrd isn't elite.
  18. Blogging isn't necessarily journalism. Just sayin'. It can be, but in many instances, even though the blogger may be a journalist, much of what is said and reported on are things done to illicit reaction. Take it for what it's worth.
  19. This is so ignorant... 1. Because he makes a lot of money means nothing. So what if you or anyone else would like to be in his shoes? The point is no one is immune from emotional turmoil in life. And all that glitters ain't gold. Be careful whose shoes you think you want to be in. 2. He never said anything about not wanting to be in Buffalo. 3. Why compare him to soldiers? Like you said, they volunteered to do what they do (God bless them), but what they do has zero to do with how Mario Williams, you or anyone else deals with situations in their personal life.
  20. The Juice Kelly Bruce Thurman Honorable mention: Reed, Talley, Kemp, Dubenion
  21. The reason they won't make a play for a guy like Woodson is that HE IS OLD. He didn't pefrorm, last season, as he had in previous seasons. And he wants the same money he's used to making. The approach is young, fast, aggressive. If you're an older vet, you come for a price and not more than that. And I don't think they are rebuilding. Transistioning, yeah. They do have enough talent to win. The question is do we have a QB. As bad as the D was last season, if we had a QB there is three games they lost that could have easily been W's: NE on the road, Rams and Titans. That would have made them, what, 9-7? Not as far off as folks believe. IF they get good QB play.
  22. Three games Bills could have won were undone by non-clutch QB play (Rams, Titans, Pats) Win those games they are 9-7. Even with the horrible defense.
  23. Maybe. Doesn't mean that first pick will be at 8 though. Trade down with the Rams is possible. They like Austin so it's been reported.
  24. Why do you believe that? He's only played a year of ball. And for all his struggles he did get open a lot. QB couldn't get him the rock. He had a bad game against Seattle, but I don't recall him dropping a lot of balls outside that game. He dropped 7 same as Stevie according to this:http://stats.washingtonpost.com/fb/leaders.asp?range=NFL&type=Receiving&rank=232 And they drafted him to get deep.
