Andre Reed Elected into the Pro Football HOF
purple haze replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Dude, Michael Irvin and Cris Carter were the goods. Andre is is great too. But Irvin and Carter were productive over quite a number of years as well. Irvin was a no brainer. Carter/Reed could have gone in either order. Dre’s day is coming soon. -
My take after some research on Byrd
purple haze replied to D521646's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don’t think that’s the issue. I think if the Bills pay him what he believes his play dictates he should be paid then he would be fine staying with the organization. I think this is a respect issue not a “he doesn’t want to play in Buffalo” issue. I think that’s more made up by some fans. -
Bills to meet with Rogers Communications
purple haze replied to San Jose Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think many fans are more interested in coming to Buffalo because the “more of that” they would see is not what they see in Toronto. It’s a night and day atmosphere. -
Colts Elevate Da'Rick Rogers to the Active Roster
purple haze replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
What did DR produce exactly? In preseason Hogan played better. And since none of us were on the inside to know the daily ins and outs about commitment level etc. there really is no reason to question DR’s release. It could be getting cut woke him up enough to be somewhat productive with the Colts. -
Here, here.

Bills to meet with Rogers Communications
purple haze replied to San Jose Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Not many seem to like the TO series, particularly Toronto fans. It is overpriced. And it is not fun; i.e. bad in-house atmosphere, no tailgating. The Bills won't lose Canadian fans if the TO game is discontinued because it seems, for the most part, the real Bills fans from Canada prefer to get on the QEW to see their team in their natural habitat. They enjoy the tailgaiting and the in-house atmosphere. Even if the Bills are bad, the experience is NFL level. In TO the experience is bush league and that is NOT because the Bills aren’t that good. The 90’s Bills could have gone there and the price gouging, sterile atmosphere and lack of true NFL experience would still turn off the fans of the team who have been to Buffalo and know what it is supposed to be like. TO seems to lack consistent, passionate, support for any of their teams, outside the Leafs. And the Leafs are as bad as the Bills for an even longer period of time. The difference is that the Leafs are the Toronto Maple Leafs. The Bills do not belong to TO; they know it and so do we. TO It is a great city with a lot to offer, but pro sports do not seem to be a passion in general. Their attitude seems to be that they like having the Jays or the Raptors or the Argos, but they don’t NEED them. The Leafs are the team they need. Buffalo, Cleveland, Pittsburgh, New York, Boston etc. those cities NEED their teams. It’s just a different relationship with sports in the two countries. Sports is a part of the fabric of America. Especially football. That said, the fans who are died in the wool can’t pay the exorbitant prices or don’t feel compelled to and I understand that totally. And, as I said earlier, prefer to come to Buffalo anyway. I understand that too. Watching a game at the Ralph is an experience. I contend that reclaiming that TO game would not cause a loss of souther OT fans. It might increase them. -
Trade Byrd and a 3rd for another 1st?
purple haze replied to dayman's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Losing Byrd, even if we got a first, does not necessarily improve the team. Byrd would still have to be replaced. Who does that? A safety they draft? Searcy is good, but not the type of Safety that Byrd is. Williams is good, but who is he paired with that plays like Byrd? To me, losing Byrd is spinning wheels. -
Actually, he does. One of his good qualities.

Bills working to keep Moorman [update: signed 1-10-2014]
purple haze replied to ny33's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
What do you know about any of those options? Maybe they weren’t good options to the people who actually scour waiver wires? It’s easy to say what they should do based on no real information about the options listed. We didn’t lose games because of Moorman. Coverage? Yeah, that cost us a couple. Because Moorman may be re-signed does not mean he will be the punter going forward. I’m sure competition will be brought in. If he beats that competition out then so be it. If he doesn’t, then so be it. Not saying it’s unimportant, but the Bills have much bigger fish to fry than worrying about the punter. -

Jets have no qualms about drafting another QB...
purple haze replied to Mr. WEO's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don’t believe Doug Whaley said they wouldn’t take another QB. In fact, he said they wouldn’t rule out taking a QB. So I don’t know why this thread even started, especially refrencing the NY Jets of all teams. SMDH… -
Kyle Williams: "There will be changes here"
purple haze replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Dareus would fit in on any team and in NE he’d probably be an all-pro. Just like he will be in B-Lo soon enough. -
Browns Fire HC Rob Chudzinsky after 1 season
purple haze replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I feel bad for Browns fans. That is just crazy. There has to be something personal between Chudzinski and the owner. Has to be. -
Agree with you, but to me the run D is first priority. I’m tired of seeing average RB’s look like Jim Brown highlights. So my first pick is the best front 7 defensive stud we can get. They HAVE to spend some money in FA. Re-sign Byrd. Sign a TE: Pitta, Pettigrew. And a couple OLineman.

Winning games always means something. There are no “meaningless” games for a competitor. If you ever hear an actual professional athlete saying a game is meaningless you are hearing a losers mentality. I get where you’re coming from, but no, EJ needs to play if he’s healthy. I don’t know why you believe Whaley didn’t want Manuel. Or that Marrone wasn’t on board with drafting Manuel. He was drafted to be the guy and he needs to play if he’s physically able; simple as that. EJ has shown poise, a strong arm, mobility, an ability to overcome some adversity. He’s also looked very bad on a few occasions. Not unexpected for a rookie QB. No need to run the guy out of town like folks tried to run others out of town because they weren’t good enough quickly enough: CJ, Dareus, Aaron Williams come to mind. Let the guy play some more and we’ll see.

I co-sign your opinion SJBF.

If he continues to ask for too much? You mean Carrington? I don’t think there’s been any news about what he does/doesn’t want. Unless I missed something.

Not to be negative about Woods
purple haze replied to ColdBlueNorth's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He was ejected. He will get fined. That’s all that needs to happen. No need to sit him. That’s koo-koo. -
Gilmore had a great day too. Every CB gets beat. He had his man in check for the most part. And he gave up no TD’s either. Even on the long pass he gave up he caught Hartline and prevented a TD. I remember after the KC game people saying Gilmore was a bust and the guy gave up, what, 65 yards and no TD's? LoL. Newsflash: outside of Deion Sanders every CB will give up multiple catches a game. Sometimes, a long pass too. Doesn’t mean they aren’t good players. The other team gets paid too. Now Justin Rogers was a problem. Gilmore, not so much. Just stop.

I don't think "smaller" wr's necessarily struggle to play outside at all. There have been guys 6' and under who play well. Steve Smith the most recent example. Mark Duper and Mark Clayton didn't have problems. Gary Clark, who used to play for the Skins didn't have issues. Remember SB 26? Cliff Branch, Lynn Swann, Wesley Walker, there's a lot of them in NFL history. It's about technique and toughness getting off the line. There are many 6' and over WR's who struggle to play outside too.

Speed is MOST DEFINITELY key to the long jump. My friend, how do you think they jump so far? The buildup of speed is critical; especially at 'Quise's size. One can have Olympic caliber speed and not run sprints in the Olympics. It's not like there aren't others with that same talent level. Technique: lift, extension, landing are also vital to the long jump, that's why every sprinter can't do it well. BUT, make no mistake, all the technique in the world won't make up for a lack of speed down the runway. There ain't no slow long jumpers.

Marquise Goodwin vs T.J. Graham - Fan Poll
purple haze replied to MClem06's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Graham must being showing well in the practice setting. So there's that. Graham is a good blocker as well. I don't understand why fans think they know more than the people who are with the players everyday. Goodwin is involved. Bills are deep at WR. We'll be better when our QB's are better. Graham is fine. He's flashing just like Goodwin. It's good both are on the team. Most of your post details LAST SEASON. That has no value to this season. We haven't seen Graham drop passes this season the way he did last season.. He's running much better routes and getting open (btw, he got open a lot last year too). He's making plays w/Thad in at QB, who he has a good chemistry with.
