  1. You glossed over the point I made about infrastructure changes that incorporates subway and commuter train service to the downtown area. And in fact, wherever they build the stadium would more than likely come with substantial road work too. The way downtown is now is not the way it would remain if they chose to build the stadium there. But your thinking is the very thing that is wrong with the area. Putting the stadium in Orchard Park all those years ago was a foolish thing to do. But at least at that time they could point to a trend of suburban flight. There is no excuse for that mindset today. Putting the stadium in a Batavia for instance wouldn't be intelligent. Fans of the team will still come to games if the stadium is downtown and imagine they can take a commuter train service there instead of driving? Imagine they have bars and restaurants, retail outlets near the stadium to patronize before or after games? A new stadium, I am betting, will come as part of a broader development that incorporates a convention center aspect/hotels/entertainment district. It won't just be a stadium. You go to any downtown area in most cities and there are people everywhere. Buffalo's downtown in the recent past, after working hours, has been a ghost town. That is unacceptable and far from what it was when I was very young. It is time for Buffalo to make a full come back. In this day and age that starts with viable downtown areas. Buffalo needs people with vision. I hope the pols and the Bills execs will show that should a new stadium be the way forward.
  2. Wherever they put the stadium there will be infrastructure changes. The city/downtown of every major city has taken on development as a necessity. People are moving out of suburbs and into the cities and it is making downtown areas thrive again. The flight to the suburbs is over. At least in forward thinking places. If they put the stadium downtown they can still share facilities with UB. Tailgaiting can still happen too, if the city/state, as part of infrastructure changes, expands the subway system and creates a viable commuter train system. Same amount of people, less vehicle traffic. It's time for B-Lo to step into the present and act like a city again; not an accumulation of suburbs around a dead downtown.
  3. I don't think that's true. Brooks has been injured a lot. They are looking at what he can do for them. Brown and Dixon were reported to have gotten most of the RB reps in the first couple days of OTA's. You think either one of them are playing ahead of CJ and Fred if healthy? Robey won't go anywhere. He's a playmaker. They won't be able to keep him off the field. Unless Brooks starts making plays consistently too. So far we haven't seen evidence of that. Robey is doing now what he did at SC. Just today he had a pick in OTA's. Same as he was doing last year in OTA's and training camp. There is always a place on the field for a player who takes the ball away. Yep. And we need a 6'5 receiver even if he can't play. Forget Steve Smith or Torrey Smith or Watkins. We need 6'5 Calvin Johnson dudes who can't play anywhere close to Calvin Johnson's level. But he'll be tall though.
  4. Twitter only gives you a certain number of characters. Many use shorthand to make their points. No different than slang or the shorthand that can be found in many cultures. Loosen up. There are many ways to communicate. As opposed to looking down your nose at someone's style focus on what they're trying to get across. I would think one would respect people because they are people not because they "respect" the english language on a social media platform designed to cut words and letters. My two cents. Twitter limited so folks b cuttin' a-e-i-o-u's to make 1,2,3. Ain't diff than slang from many cultures. U 2 uptight. Many ways to kick it. Instead of thinkin' u in2 som'm worry bout what people sayin. Shldnt u respec people bc they people? Twitter ain't english class it made to /corners. Jus my duece.
  5. Some people just have to learn the hard way because they can't get out of their own way. Unfortunate.
  6. You have no idea what Ashley Fox is or isn't. Could it be she just doesn't like Trumps' history and what it portends for the future? Frankly, the GOP would benefit more from a viable, serious minded candidate than the Trumps of the world provide. How many times is he going to run for Governor or President? Or should I say, how many times is he going to say he will before backing out because he will get smoked in a GOP primary.
  7. 44,000 as of May 29th. There is still almost three months before the final number of season tickets sold is known. It is very likely to be over 50,000 and might approach that previous high. You'd bet that, why? Just wait until the season starts. We shall see...
  8. Nope. On the field, Mike Williams is a very polished, talented WR. He can learn a lot from him in that regard.
  9. Even in this negative hypothetical, Page would still need 24 of 32 owners to approve any move. Which is no guarantee. He can't just pick up and do anything on his own. But I don't get why some on the board feel him not being from WNY would be an indicator that he would possibly want to move the team. Mr. Wilson wasn't from WNY and he refused to move.
  10. Is he? Does the USFL have any games scheduled this summer? Trump does not allow one to look past his politics. He always has something simple minded to say in front of the cameras or on Twitter. And he is always looking for attention. Yes, he can be a good businessman. Doesn't mean he would be good for the Bills. I won't stop being a fan if he becomes the owner, but he's not high on my list of potential owners. And today, it sounded to me like a man greasing the wheels to not be the owner. Again, he's talking way too much. Most business deals do not transpire in that fashion. He's one of the only potential bidders we hear from directly. Red Flag to me. It also means, to me, that he is on the outside looking in. I think there are already preferred candidates with WNY ties who have the "in". But we shall see.
  11. I think what we see, eventually, is a stadium downtown, but a stadium that is part of a retail/entertainment district, w/a convention center hotel complex. I think if the state is kicking in money that will be a part of it. It would be easier to sell the public on taxes for an entire development than a stadium by itself. I think most would want to see downtown B-Lo continue to become a viable place. The days of putting everything in the suburbs is over. Nationally, downtown/urban development is becoming important.
  12. Why does it seem most assume a WNY-centered buyer wouldn't be the highest bidder? That is a distinct possibility.
  13. And Allen Wilson. I don't think we will see a dome, fixed or retractable. It's an extra cost; you already have NFL folks talking new stadium necessary and Cuomo talking about a new stadium would need private funding as opposed to major contributions from the state. The negotiations have begun. Everyone involved will want to keep costs as low as possible. And Buffalo is not getting a Super Bowl any time soon. A 60,200- 65,000 seat stadium would sell out without the need for local business to buy up tickets or ownership to buy them up. I think Pittsburgh has a good model with the Steelers and Pitt sharing training facilities and Heinz Field. Perfect for the Bills/UB. UB gets to step up their profile with a bigger stadium and the Bills have a co-tenant to drive profits. What I think we will see is a 65,000 seat, open air stadium (because that will be relatively cheap) that will leave room for future expansion, but will come along with development around the stadium such as an entertainment and shopping district and infrastructure (roads, public transit which the state can justify contributing major money too). I think that's what the city of Buffalo should be focused on because that's where more money will be made going forward. This should be in the city of Buffalo. Not Niagara Falls or Batavia. My family back there say things are starting to get better in terms of construction, etc in town.
  14. I don't know. I think it already looked like some type of state prison. lol. And to think when I was a kid the stadium looked like a palace to me. Especially compared to the rock pile. Now the Ralph looks old and raggedy like the rock pile.
  15. He's done. Unless the Bills keep 7 WR's. Then he MIGHT stick around. Seahwaks are the Super Bowl champs. They didn't have any "big" WR's. They just had WR's who could play. That's all that matters. Plenty of big WR's get cut every year. Being big doesn't mean they can play effectively. Being under 6' doesn't mean you can't. If Graham improves, he will make it. Can't teach that speed and explosion. And Jimmer Fredette.
  16. Not really. The media will create Manziel stories and there will be "sources" who say Manziel did x, y and z or looks this way or said this, that or the other. Then when training camp starts and they actually see him playing the frenzy will go next level. Manziel is a star for better or worse and not seeing him for the rookie camp will make him even more desired by the media and fans, not less.
  17. I appreciate your sentiment, but you should care. If it's a brand new stadium it more than likely won't simply be a new stadium, but a new development that incorporates hotel, entertainment, retail, etc. along with that stadium. Should that be in Niagara Falls or downtown Buffalo? Batavia? That's like a modern day version of the move to Orchard Park. Putting the place in the middle of nowhere. When all is said and done three places are the most likely: Downtown B-lo, Amherst-UB, Niagra Falls. I would bet on Erie County bc EC has the most invested in the team through the years.
  18. Then it’s worthless. It’s about action not numbers. I guess Barry Sanders and Thurman Thomas and Walter Payton would have been backups or starters.
  19. The only place to draft a QB is in the first round? Kaepernick and Dalton do okay for second round picks. So does Drew Brees. Gabbert and Ponder aren’t so hot for top 12 picks in round one. I feel like Whaley does: that first rounder will be a low first rounder anyway. Onward and upward.
  20. Agree with you. And they didn’t even give up two first round picks. The way they report these deals is misleading. They SWAPPED first round picks this year. The way it’s reported one would think they just gave up a first this year and next year without getting one back.
  21. Or the Bills/League have identified one or two WNY-centric ownership entities and Milstein’s continued pursuit would have been pointless. So he stays involved by offering to do what he can, which most likely means, his Niagara Falls land holdings.
  22. Spikes is only signed for one year. No guarantee he stays after this season. Then what? And if Spikes re-signs great. Who is to say Brown can’t play SAM. Rivers is only signed for two years. And they still need depth. Whaley and Marrone also spoke of enhancing special teams. If he does that it’s a win win. Everybody doesn’t have to play right away to be valuable. Obviously they used the third because they believe he will help the team in the way they want him to and he was a value at that point on their board. Simple as that.
  23. Totally agree. At this point in the draft that’s what teams are looking for; ST’s and developmental prospects. Skov can play football. I know the measurables don’t favor him, but he is always around the rock and making plays.
  24. Every team needs back ups. And what if Spikes bounces? Brown could also possibly plays SAM. He was a good pick. Who would you rather have been drafted that would have had more of an impact? I don’t think there is anyone in the 3rd round who is going to come in and start. The Bills have good starters at just about every position. They got a starting WR and RT in the first two rounds. 3rd rounder are often down the line starters.
