  1. And he also threw the ball a lot more in general.
  2. Yes, really. Throwing for more TD's doesn't mean anything. He played in a system built for throwing the ball. Taylor did not. Neither one of them is probably the answer. They are players with some good traits who are good backups. But if I'm taking a flyer, I'm choosing Taylor based on Roman's previous history, and the Bills desire to run the ball. Moore has never been that athletic QB. All of a sudden it's going to present itself? I would contend Roman doesn't need a new anything. His team was a perennial playoff team running a system that used the QB as a weapon in the running game. Of course a QB has to be able to throw at some point, but a stout D, and Kaepernick, teamed with the weapons around him was extrememly successful. Seems like the Bills have everything those Niners had (Great D, talent at skill positions and good special teams), They need the right QB.
  3. I doubt they would get Kiko from the Bills. But the Skins are about to lose Orakpo. And their DB's are a solid mess outisde of Breeland. Tag Hughes, send him, McKelvin and a mid-round pick that can become a 3rd. A trade like that could work. Taylor would be an interesting possibility. No other direction has the same upside though. He does take too many hits. I don't buy that he doesn't watch enough film. Nobody said that during his rookie year when they went on that winning streak. I don't think RGIII's work ethic is the problem. I think the attitude is. RGIII is very confident. He comes off to me as a guy who is positive he knows all the answers, and if he doesn't now he will when he needs to. The same mentality that made him play on that knee, or rush to come back for game 1 of his second season. Self-reflection might not be a strength of his, and if that's the case, Synder fawing over him could be crippling. I don't think RGIII has a bad attitude, but one of over-confidence which ultimately hurts him. That trait, paired with coaches who can do questionable things, paired with other players with agendas, or players not performing at all, whispering to the media, paired with a local and national media that parses every word the kid speaks... NY ain't got a thing on DC when it deals with coverage of the local football team. DC might be more pressurized. The most powerful men in DC? The President, and the QB of the Skins. That said, because things aren't working out in DC doesn't mean they won't elsewhere. If RGIII was the only issue we have seen in that organization then I would listen to more of the criticisms of him. However, that organization has shot itself in the foot on so many different issues, since Snyder took over, that they don't have any feet left. RGIII is a prime candidate for the "needs a change of scenery" theory. If the price is right Whaley would have to pull the trigger. He's proven he's a tough kid, corageous on the field, strong arm, charismatic, does work hard, plays through dings, and tries, to his own detriment, to play through injury. There's more plusses than minuses. Getting dealt could be the ego check + organizational stability he needs to get back on track.
  4. I can't even believe they did that foolishness.
  5. Who said the offense had to be crap. Revis does not preclude a good offense. I'm not saying they should sign Revis. But it wouldn't be a bad thing either. I'm sure they have a plan. We should let things play out.
  6. Why do you believe they couldn't re-sign Hughes? The cap is going up exponentially the upcoming league year. Say they re-structure Mario's deal, that's even more money added. The Bills don't have to re-up Dareus or Gilmore right this second. They can wait for during the season. Bills can have their cake and eat it too for a little while. Why do you think he wouldn't get them a 3rd? McKelvin can play. He's a good CB and a good return man. A couple costly errors here and there doesn't change that dynamic. He makes a lot of plays too in both areas.
  7. They wouldn't cut McKelvin. They would trade him. He has value. He could probably get them a 3rd from some team. But I'm not convinced they would trade him. They could move Graham to Free Safety, Keep McKelvin in the 3rd CB spot.
  8. There's always a chance. They just spent coin on a head coach and a large coaching staff. Not something they've done in the past. They didn't use to trade around in the draft, but they've done that two years in a row. We'll see if OG is philosophy change too. It's an obvious posiiton of necessitiy. Whaley and everyone else can see that.
  9. All of the owners have deep pockets. Even the ones who are not as wealthy as a Jones or Pegula are filthy rich. The amount of money the owner has, I doubt is a real consideration. The major factor is more likely the owner's track record in how they choose to use the money. It speaks well of the Pegulas that they are giving Rex what he feels he needs to compete (the number of coaches on his staff.) They are building a up a good "credit"history in the league.
  10. That would be a good conference pairing for UB. And if it were to happen, the school would probably be known as New York State University by that time. Everything you listed, as well as the large student population at UB, is why, at some point, UB will wind up in a bigger conference. Put UB in the B1G and attendance issues go away immediately. The ACC would be another good location for UB.
  11. But we don't know that he missed on CK at this point.
  12. Yet could be said about any underperforming player. None of them get forever, just for now. EJ will step up or someone else will get the gig. I don't think it's underwhelming support. Monos is just being even-handed.
  13. I would say that the administration is trying to make the program better by framing the university as New York's State university. I'm not saying I like the idea of it, but this is what they're trying with that marketing scheme. It's not about their students. It's about students across the country, particularly athletes. Attract better athletes, teams get better, teams get better, students get interested, students get passionate about the programs, atmosphere gets created, Atmosphere gets created, locals who are not college age might think coming out is worth their time. It's all a trickle down. New York State U. sounds bigger and sexier. Of course that means nothing to people from WNY, but again, people of WNY probably aren't the intended audience. Outside WNY the name Buffalo might not immediately conjure up a positive image. People from WNY know better, and most people who visit come away with a different impression than those who just "hear" the weather or economic reportage of years past, but never step foot in the area. Personally, I think getting cutting edge facilities, and a move to a bigger conference with more recognizeable brand name programs with history would do the trick. That Baylor game had great attendance. I'm sure if most power conference schools showed up in Amherst those games would sell out. Academically, UB can be in any conference and fit in based on student volume and academic reputation. But we all know that's not what it's really about.
  14. It could be he doesn't want to coach this season after the way things went down. He won't find the same talent on D as he had in Buff. Might figure it's better to take a year off having a great season than coach a lesser defensive unit and lose his "hot" quotient. Or he just got caught up in bad timing. He can thank Marrone the soon to be position coach for that.
  15. Too expensive? I don't believe under new ownership anything is out of the question like it was in years past. If Rex and Roman want him, he will be paid to show up. I want them to re-sign Hughes, Searcy, Easley and get a QB and an OG or two. I might be in the minority, but I would love to see Spiller brough back as well. But if not, DeMarco Murray would be fine by me.
  16. I agree, he's a stud. But 12 mil a year would make him paid like one of the elite in the league. I don't know if he's elite like a Mario/Justin Houston. But you might be right. If he got over 10 mil I wouldn't see it as a waste of money at all. But the Bills are due to pay Dareus 100 mil, so I don't know if we can swing Hughes, on top of that, and having to get ready to pay Gilmore, Glenn, etc... If they tag him it better be to trade him.
  17. Nobody has any idea who is good at what amongst positional coaches. Raiders fans don't know. Jets fans don't know. And we don't know either. If Rex is familiar with him, and Roman is comfortable with him, that's all that matters. All Sammy Watkins and Robert Woods needs is a QB to get them the rock. Receiver coach can't help with that.
  18. They might be desperate at CB, but they will be desperate at QB if they got rid of B.R. There is no way getting rid of him makes sense for them.
  19. I agree the goal is to bring people to the city and spur economic development. And I believe that is exactly what should happen. But I wouldn't say nothing built up around the Ralph. It's nothing compared to what a downtown stadium would lead to, but Orchard Park now, compared to way back when, seems night and day. Today, OP seems like a developed suburb. I don't know if you were there back in the day, but if not, and you think there is nothing in OP now, find a Hot Tub Time Machine and go back to the late 70's.
  20. I agree with the Iupati prediction. I think Spiller will get much more guaranteed though. Closer to 6-7M. Hughes, I think, will be closer to Cliff Avril than Tamba Hali. Hughes get 4 years, 34-36M.
  21. I doubt the players are concerned with Kromer's Chicago admission. Seeing as how they are playing under a new staff and, for the most part, totally new coaches they are trying to impress whomever their position coach happens to be. Including Kromer. All the rest is just message board noise. BTW, many stories that come out in the news from "sources" are people inside the administration building or the locker room. ijs. Kromer just chose to publically de-cloak.
  22. His arm wouldn't be worth two cents in the elements.
  23. The stadium used to seat 80,000. The games you refer to when they were very good not selling out had upwards of 75,000 people. The new stadium will probably be 65-67,000. Sell outs won't be much of an issue at that number. Unless the team is straight horrible. I'm not one for a roof, but if they have to have one it must be open when the weather isn't bad. And it has to have a lot of glass for natural light sources.
  24. They're flipping out on the Jets' message board about Gailey. Gailey is actually a good choice. Especially for a team that has little offensive talent. He'll scheme them into some production and points.
