  1. Since I had to pick one, I went yes. He has all the tools and the work ethic. Franchise, to me, in this context, is a QB who can lead, make some plays, but doesn't make costly turnovers. I'm not saying he will equate with Brady, Brees, Manning, etc. Can he be in the Kaepernick, Tannehill class. I definitely think he can. Which is enough for them to win with that defense and a running game. For all the vitriol EJ gets, he has shown flashes of what he's capable of. His issue is consistency, and the fact he was coached into not using his mobility at all.
  2. Becuase you want a trade to happen doesn't mean it's available to be made. It takes two teams. If the other teams aren't trading their QB the Bills are S-O-L. That's the breaks. Whaley can't make another team put their QB on the block.
  3. A lot of interior OL play well into their 30's. Don't know if his age would preclude him from getting a nice deal from somewhere, being that he doesn't have an injury history. Would love Whaley to kick the tires on him.
  4. I can't believe they would cut EJ after 14 games and spending a 1st round pick on him. They might sign McCown, but EJ will be around, unless he's part of a trade. Just cutting him would make no sense at this point. Not like they spend a mint on him at this point anyway.
  5. I'd like to see him back to. I think he's worth it at the right price.
  6. . If that is true he should be fired. His job is to find and report news, not be schill for the organization. His source told him what he reported, I would imagine, as a news item in itself with no spoken ulterior reason.
  7. We don't know that to be the case at all. They weren't at the top before Hughes got there. I don't understand why so many undersell Hughes. He's extremely athletic, beats his matchup one-on-one consistently, gets pressure, good against the run. Yeah, he's got Mario, Williams and Dareus on the line with him, and guess what? They have Jerry Hughes with them. Kyle is 31, 32. His next deal won't be big money, if there is a next one with the Bills. So it will be back to three large K's on the DL soon enough. Bills won't have a QB to pay large guarantees too in the next couple years either, barring the unforseen. Signing Hughes is not an issue.
  8. AMEN! He's the TE I've been wanting the Bills to go after. He's got very good athleticism, plays tough/physical with the ball in his hands, and creates mismatches. He would add the dimension we've wanted from Chris Gragg. It would also put a dent in the Dolphins roster. Win-win for us.
  9. Dallas. He's going back to Texas.
  10. LOLOL... You ain't getting off contestants row with that one. And on that note, I bid: 4 years - 43 million/24 guaranteed
  11. Every year pundits say "next years QB class will be better..." And it has not been true the past couple years. Nobody knows where a good QB will eventually come from. It's the most inexact science in sports. The spread offense in college ball is a serious issue for projecting pro potential. He's the only FA QB who can, by league rule, visit a team at this point. That's why he is the first to visit. He's actually available. The other terrible QB's who will be available aren't officially available until March 10th.
  12. Eh, we could do a little better though. McCown just doesn't do anything for me. I'd rather a young QB, with a chance to have upside, like Locker. Ultimately, I'm hoping EJ realizes consistency in the good things he does on the field and improve in reading defenses. He is our best hope vs. what is currently available in FA.
  13. 1. every team shouldn't be expecting a Sunday or Monday night game. Especially a team that has been irrelevant for a decade. Every team should hope to be good enough to get put on prime time more than the obligatory Thursday nighter. 2. In the game that is public relations it never hurts for the team to push forward the narrative that they understand fans/outsiders view of Incognito, and therefore will constantly seek to provide assurance that they expect he will be a good citizen. 3. This is the one we already knew back in October, when rumors of a football czar began. This is just more verification. 4. Might not be news, but it's good to hear nonetheless. When Byrd and Levitre walked I didn't hear such definitive statements from any sources. In fact, it seemed they were already out the door before FA started. 5. Because we see things a certain way does not mean the front office does. Many of us on the board would have kept Levitre and Byrd. If they were to sign a Vincent Jackson and not a TE, I would be surprised by that. I think most on the board see TE is as the need of needs. 6. Every team wanting another? When your team has two pro-bowl, all-pro DT's it wouldn't be the first "need" that would jump out to me. I found it to be an interesting nugget. 7. Of course they should expect strong competition at QB, but that wasn't the relevant point in the statement. The relevant point was: "all avenues being exhausted..." to find another QB. Pair that with the last nugget he presented about "going in a direction not talked about". Reading between the lines, my take away is the Bills are looking at free agency and the draft, but really seem to want to trade for someone. (That would be something not discussed by a national media hung up on their lack of a round one pick in April.) For instance, what if Roman knows Kaepernick could be had based on his knowledge of the front office/new coaching dynamic in Frisco? 8. Yes, every team would love to add Revis, but most couldn't afford him, or have a viable connection to him. The Bills have both factors necessary to make a play. The relevant info is that the "source" didn't say we have no interest in Revis, or would be put off by his price tag. Just another verification new ownership is not like previous ownership. 9. No, I wouldn't expect them to say they have no plans for Gilmore and Dareus. At the same time I would expect that this "source" could have said nothing at all about Gilmore and Dareus which in and of itself could be telling. The thing that struck me is, as light as the information was, Gilmore and Dareus are in the plans. I never heard that about other FA's the Bills let walk away in the past several years. I wouldn't be surprised to see one of them extended before the season starts. And it wouldn't shock me if Gilmore got his first. You have to read between the lines and pair whatever information we get with other information we get from wherever else. We'll rarely get as many specifics as we want to get before the fact. And for good reason. Massare isn't the be all to end all. He is a guy who has had good info in the past. Just like we have gotten good info from sources on the board at times, or TBN reporters, or AP reporters, or Toroto Sun reporters about various issues. The more information we get, from the most sources, the better.
  14. No way. Has nothing to do with the dog thing. He paid his debt. From a football standpoint he looked done last year. There are better options amongst the bad options available.
  15. Locker. I know. But seriously...
  16. +1 Cincinnati would take Manning and trade Dalton and that contract. I bet they would love to re-set that position. Although, I would take Dalton in B-Lo. And Arians would probably take Manning too. He's better than anything else they have.
  17. If that's the case he needs to retire. Can't play every game in a dome. Besides that, he didn't look good against the Bills and it was sunny and 60's. He needs to get his health together or walk away while he can.
  18. Ask Mike Williams.
  19. Even if Pittsburgh needs to rebuild, I seriously doubt they let Roethlisberger go without the QB of the future already in place. The Steelers have been good about having players in the pipe line to replace players they let walk away in FA. That said, if your scenario played out, I believe you are giving up too much. It would probably be a combo of players and picks, but not three picks in the top 3 rounds for a 30 something QB.
  20. Sad state of affairs indeed... Looking at their stats though doesn't tell the whole story. Boise State has had many QB's post "numbers" who were not NFL calibre, or difference making calibre. They ran a great system. Much like many QB's in college today post numbers, but aren't going to be pros, or a difference maker if they can stick. I think most of us are just reading tea leaves based on Roman's history. Like I said in a previous post, neither of them are probably the answer, but in terms of Roman's offensive philosophy, one has to believe a QB with superior movement skills is what he would get more use out of right now. Of course if Tom Brady, or Payton Manning of a few years ago became free, or Big Ben, Aaron Rodgers, etc. then we all want that guy. But if it's a circumstance of trying to build something that works for now, Roman's history is the best teacher. Why? What do you prefer them to do? Everything is going to be a shot in the dark, even if they drafted a QB. At this point they are looking for potential upside. RGIII has more than anyone else available on the open market. His arm talent was phenomenal in college as well. His rookie year he made many plays in the passing game, starting with opening week in New Orleans (go youtube it). The QB landscape is filled with flawed players. FA's and guys that can be traded for have issues, or they wouldn't be available. In that case, get the one with most upside. RGIII is that guy, or maybe Bradford. It lessens from there. Every one of these QB's are "IF's" at this point, including EJ. Unfortunately, that's where the Bills are.
  21. True about Dobler. But then again, Bills went to the playoffs, and ran that rock effectively while they did. Hopefully, we get the same results with Incognito on the line. But I'm sure he is not the last OL the Bills sign this off-season. Just one who is available right now.
  22. If Gordon or Gurley fell that would be a great pick, but I don't see them getting that far in the draft, unless they totally blow the combine/pro day/interview process. Coleman would be a damn good third option though! He is the goods.
  23. They have no leverage. They ain't getting anything of tremendous value. RG3 has great upside. He's also fallen out with two coaching staffs and been injured. They can hang up any hopes of recouping the magnitude of what they gave up. Best they would get is a 3rd and maybe another late round pick, and probably those two picks wouldn't come in the same draft. If the Bills were trading with the Skins, I wouldn't be surprised if it's a couple players as oppossed to picks. McKelvin (Who I like a lot, but even if they don't get Revis, I wouldn't be surprised to see Cromartie), and/or Bradham could be options. (I like Bradham, but Kiko/Preston B. and Rex's rumored desire to have Spikes back doesn't leave much room. And they have depth with Powell). Skins need defensive help badly too. IF it were both, Skins would have to send a pick back with RG3. Stop it. He was bad against the Texans/Chargers. He looked pretty good against the Bears and Dolphins. He is not as bad as you, and others make him out to be.
  24. Who was he playing against when he made those throws? Would those throws have been as successful against a Revis, Sherman, Cromartie, Gilmore? He was a great college QB, but I don't see what you see. I'm open to being wrong though. If they brought him in, fine. I would hope he does what you believe he can.
