  1. I would say Shady is the only lock. Fred has to perform well (which I don't doubt he will do), to stick around. Boobie, I think is a lock, but not at RB. As a ST. Every team has a few guys who have a position in name only. They are really just Special Teamers, although they can play decently at whatever their given position happens to be. But we shall see. The Bills finally have talented team problems again. About time.
  2. I hear you. If that were the case in Philly I would go along with that. But he looked dynamic when he got opps in Philly. All of a sudden it goes away in Buff? And it happens to go away for him at the same time it goes away for Spiller and Jackson too? And for offensive linemen like Cordy and Wood who has previously performed fairly well? I'm not judging anyone from last season. I really think Marrone's offensive recognition was a grease fire. I'm looking forward to seeing what players can do this summer with new coaching. But if Brown went away I wouldn't cry either.
  3. If he gets outperformed in camp, then yes. That hasn't happened yet. So the time hasn't come. Fred always comes through. I wouldn't expect this year to be any different. Although this is his last season w/the Bills one way or the other.
  4. So were all of the RB's last year. Was it more them, or the line or the coach? How many linemen regressed last season. Mike Williams in the doghouse. Goodwin... 1 catch (and he was a healthy scratch on many occassions.) I'm so glad Marrone quit.
  5. Because Boobie is proven. Williams, at the NFL level, is not. We'll see how he looks in pre-season.
  6. If they put him on IR he can't practice at all. But PS he would stand a good chance of being signed away if he looks good in camp/pre-season.
  7. Brown showed a lot of potential in Philly. For a 4th rounder? Not a bad move. It just hasn't worked out, but that could be said about many players on Doug Marrone's offense. It seems like there isn't too many players on the offensive side that didn't spend an inordinate amount of time in his dog house. All people talk about is the fumble against KC, which was huge, but he was working the Chiefs pretty good during that game. Against Miami he looked good too. He catches the ball well, has excellent speed. But those fumbles follow him, as they should... When the new HC won't say your name until you learn to hold on to the rock... Brown is on the line come camp.
  8. I doubt they get rid of him. Crossman loves his core ST's. And Roman is very familiar with Boobie as well. So he has two advocates amongst the coordinators. Brown is Whaley's guy. Rex and staff have no allegiance to him.
  9. Boobie is more ST's though. Like Easley is a "WR".
  10. A team isn't filling pressing needs in the 5th round. Draft is also for future years. Fred is 34. This is most likely his last season. Then what? Not a bad pick if you look past 2015. Which is the GM's job.
  11. At 50 Bills will take a QB. Grayson or Hundley. My odds are on Hundley. He's the one they've spoken about the least and not in the most glowing terms.
  12. I know humor is healing agent, but in this case, a dead mother, a baby involved... not yet. But to answer the original question, He'll get drafted, but I don't know how any team can do it in the early rounds without knowing more information. If he goes where he is supposed to, I guess it's safe to assume he'll be in the clear. But this circumstance is just ugly all the way around.
  13. Yeah, I agree. And I dig the word mark across the chest. But the Orange numbers on brown jersey's looks terrible.
  14. Kirby could play. Your avatar looks like it comes from the playoff game against the Oilers In '89? Another obscure player would be Wayne Davis CB #21. I recall him playing in that game for some reason.
  15. If Dorial Green-Beckham is there at 50 do they bite? He would be hard to pass up.
  16. Cribbs was the goods too. Contract squabble with Mr. Wilson chased him to the USFL. Even though he came back, it wasn't the same. But Cribbs was excellent. He was a version of Thurman Thomas in best years.
  17. I LOVE Thurman Thomas' game. He was a great player in his own right. He could do it all. I give OJ the nod over him, because, even as great as Thurman was, he did not have OJ's superior combo of power, speed and elusiveness. OJ is 6'1 215 w/legit sprinter's speed (I believe at USC he was on a record setting relay team), power and elusiveness. #34 had these things, but not to the same level as the Juice. OJ really was a generational talent; an exciting player because he did things other runners couldn't do. Every time he touched the rock people stood up; including fans of the other team, because something great might happen. But if you prefer Thurman I can't knock you. Thurman was dynamite in all phases and one of my favorite Bills of all time. He was just different than what OJ brought. To me, I take a generational talent over a great talent every time. I'll take Barry Sanders over Emmitt Smith. I'll Take Jerry Rice over Tim Brown. I'll take Dan Marino over Joe Montana. Those other players are GREAT, but If a team has a chance to get a once in ten years type of talent at their position, they have to do that and BUILD around that talent effectively. I'm not a big hockey person, but to put my thought in a current discussion, for the Sabres fans on the board, do you take Eichel over McDavid given the choice? Or do you take McDavid and run? Then ask yourself why?
  18. OJ is elite and legendary because his physical talent overshadowed everybody else on the field. He did have a great oline. He still outran, jumped over, ran through defenders who were not blocked. And the K-gun was built to maximize Thurman's talents and everyone else's on the offense. Watch some of the man's runs and tell me what oline blocking has to do with many of them. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H2mVyvZ1OR4
  19. OJ is basically Demarco Murray? If you truly believe that I don't even know where to start... And Thurman had some great Oline's to run behind, they were just overshadowed by a lot of HOF talent at the skill positions. Thurman had HOF WRs, and a HOF QB who could throw the rock with the best of them. OJ had good players around him, but make no mistake, he WAS the offense, and THE focus of every defense the Bills faced. Injuries caught up to him at the end. Thurman wasn't balling out of control at the end either. Age and injuries do that to most players, it's just especially noticeable at the skill positions. This is no knock on Thurman, who was dynamite, a great football player, but the Juice is one of the most dynamic talents in football history, and arguably the best at his position. A combination of Barry Sanders elusiveness with Eric Dickerson size. DeMarco Murray...
  20. Hopefully, not so similar we have to split money. I think the easiest choices I made were the opener and the season ending games. League loves division games early and late. I might have went to far having three division games in row to end the season though. Two is probably more like it.
  21. And without further ado: Week 1 - Jets Week 2 - @ Titans Week 3 - @ Patriots Week 4 - Texans Week 5 - @ Redskins Week 6 - Bengals Week 7 - @ Jaguars Week 8 - BYE Week 9 - Colts Week 10 - @ Eagles Week 11 - @ Dolphins Week 12 - Cowboys Week 13 - @ Chiefs Week 14 - Giants Week 15 - @ Jets Week 16 - Dolphins Week 17 - Patriots The league loves division games toward the end of the season. Question is which home/road combos. Has to be a bye after the London trip. Jets/Phins play in London a couple weeks before the Bills, so I would imagine they'll be on bye weeks right before the Bills ship overseas. I think the Bills open up with a division foe. It's just too much drama to leave untapped.
  22. PREACH... I've been saying for a long time, a "shutdown" corner doesn't mean that cb never gives up receptions. They don't give up difference-making receptions. Gilmore was shutdown the last half of last season. He was relatively healthy and it showed. Teams don't throw at him very often. He's gotten progressively better since his rookie year. Hopefully, he has an injury free lead up to the regular season. I think we'll see him take the next step if that's the case. And the next step for him is elite status.
  23. Exactly. I like Kiko, but I thought he was getting overplayed a bit, and that #legendofkiko was more important than two ACL tears, and hip surgery in the past four or five years. Woods is a tough dude, great route runner and really good hands. He's the perfect compliment to Sammy. Bills dealt Kiko from a position of strength. Bradham and Brown made Kiko the obvious choice. Trade Rob and Bills would have to take a WR in the draft, when we need to draft OL/DL/LB, or sign another one in FA who is not as good, or cheap (Rob still on rookie deal.) Now next year if a trade for Brees or Rivers is possible, Rob is probably a player who will have to be included.
  24. 15 years no playoffs. I don't care about 5 years from now. 5 years from now they will do what every team in the league has to do eventually, and that's make a couple hard decisions and re-tool. They play games in 2015, that's what I'm focused on. And even with an unsettled QB situation they are still built well for a playoff run.
