  1. I don't think they pulled the wool over our eyes. I think Marrone pulled the wool over Mgmt's eyes. They thought they were getting something that Marrone did not turn out to be. I wouldn't say anything. I would be happy. Unfortunately, Marrone quit. So your theory isn't helpful to his case.
  2. Many are assuming it will be sterile. We don't know that to be the case at all. Is Canalside sterile? Do you think the Pegula's have shown that they will do things in a cookie cutter fashion? I don't. They seem to like to move in silence then make a splash when they do show up. I would think a downtown stadium would be something that fits the city while at the same time standing out in a good way architecturally. It won't be jerry world, but it would be recognizable in its way. And if I recall correctly, when they bought the team, Terry Pegula said there would eventually be a new stadium. He didn't say when, but he said it would be. Someone correct me if I'm wrong on that.
  3. I don't think Thurman is the defensive coordinator in a way that we know most defensive coordinators operate. Rex is the defensive coordinator. Thurman helps him, but it's Rex's baby. Like Gailey was the offensive coordinator in spite of Curtis Modkins holding the actual title. Modkins knew Gailey's system and helped him, but the buck stopped with Gailey. That is why Pettine would never have been brought back. He wanted to be his own person so to speak. Rob being brought on is only because, no pun intended, he is a mirror of Rex. They run the same scheme. The positive about it is that they both have something to prove. Their family name is on the line. I have no doubt all stops will be pulled out. Hopefully, that gets the defensive result back to Rex's usual top results. I'd like to see McKelvin back at a reduced rate, but they might find cutting him of more value and we can't count on Aaron Williams returning. I would say Polian isn't far off about DB, safety specifically, being a huge need for the Bills. Even if A.Will returns, Graham could be out and Rambo's strength isn't down in and down out coverage. Rex needs three safeties.
  4. Marrone was a mediocre college coach and a mediocre pro coach as well. He fits the paradigm that the Titans seem to be going after. Why that is the paradigm is the question that Titans supporters have to be wrestling with. Rex, all in all, at this point, is a mediocre head coach. However, until this year he has a history of elite skill and high end results in the area of defensive game planning. He also has had two of his teams in the playoffs, on the cusp of the Super Bowl, and he is entertaining along the way to boot. Marrone has none of that on his resume. He is not seen as a great offensive/defensive/special teams mind or even an elite offensive line coach. And he's a quitter who doesn't appear to get along with or treat people correctly. He has had a lot of interviews, but he has not gotten another gig. Agents and media shills can only do so much. Don't think these GM's, owners, execs don't put in calls to their contacts at One Bills Drive and Syracuse to get their takes on Marrone's time in those places. I heard Adam Caplan say that Marrone opted out because of uncertain ownership. He failed to mention that the Pegula's had already taken over the team and the team's future was set in Buffalo almost three months before Marrone quit. Who does that when the supply of head jobs are so infinitesimal?
  5. Great offensive mind. May he R.I.P.
  6. No. Rex is still there. Yep. Because they don't know their history. Thurman was a pretty good pro back in the day.
  7.     The Bills aren't going anywhere. There doesn't need to be public money for the stadium. The Pegula's could pay for it or they could partner with another investor to finance it privately. I doubt when the new stadium is built it will just be a stadium. More than likely it will be a stadium/entertainment/retail venture. I think where the state comes in is with money for infrastructure changes and transportation (subway/rail) upgrades/development. The state can justify that expense because it would serve the city/region outside of just fans who use the stadium.     I go to church in Inglewood. It is very residential. I imagine they are going to have to expand/widen some roads around Hollywood Park.
  8. Nah, they need to draft a LB or S at 19. Ragland from Alabama would be my choice. Get Rex everything he needs so there are no excuses in '16.
  9. 0-7 in playoffs and team blows games on the way to the loss. I think he is a good coach, but he's gotta go if I'm the boss in 'Nati.
  10. This is a football game. Players move at various speeds. Shazier caught Bernard, but Bernard was also trying to get low. I don't mind a call like the one on Burfict at the end, when it's obvious, but defenders have to be able to tackle opposing players. Just like the flag on Ioka was bad. He hit Wheaton with his shoulder and gets a personal foul.
  11. I don't know why they are the number one team. They are boring, wrong a lot of times and too sanctimonious for my taste.
  12. You didn't watch the Jacksonville game? To me they are both back ups. They will play well for a time, but eventually will bite you. You just hope the rest of the team does enough to avoid it costing them the game. EJ and Hoyer and most other back up QB's are the same dude, just in different body types. Good enough to get you beat. No question. No backup should cost that much. If he got cut he wouldn't be making 5.25 mil. Houston signed him to be a starter.
  13. He's a backup for a reason. Most backups you will say the same thing about. If they were consistent they would be starters. I would take him over Cassel or Weeden. I know that's not saying much.
  14. Bills were whuppin' the Chiefs. Same as they were last season. Bills main issue is they are too inconsistent in their execution. They let teams get back into games far too often. The Bills are the hare and other teams are the turtoise. Consistent and steady will beat them in spite of their spurts of dominance.
  15. He already is in charge. He always was in NY too. Thurman helps, but he's not the guy. Rex is.
  16. I don't believe the Giants are unintelligent enough to take Marrone. But then again, they did go through their Ray Handley phase.
  17. LoL. OBJ will be demoted to second team for wearing cleats that are "different'"
  18. He's good, but I'd like to see him complete those passes against quicker/faster DB's. I wonder if he can get into the Senior Bowl?
  19. They have re-signed many of their own under Whaley. The ones they let walk play devalued positions. Gilmore ain't going anywhere. "Shut down" doesn't really exist. Even Revis could be beat when he was on top of the game. Timing/routes, more than the WR's physical attributes would come into play, but it could be done.
  20. He's right. And why should there be a discount? He should be paid commensurate with peers on his level.
  21. A Bills HOF and Museum and you can also have a Buffalo historical museum there as well. Yes it is. The Seahwaks stadium would fit perfectly in downtown Buffalo.
  22. I love seeing games in Orchard Park, but I would love going downtown too. The days of building up suburbs at the expense of the cities are over for the foreseeable future. Cities are realizing downtown areas are important for the development and overall reputation of a city. A downtown stadium won't just be a downtown stadium; it will, more than likely, come with infrastructure changes that will help the area outside of Sunday's, i.e. revamped rail, public transportation and road development, as well as entertainment/retail spaces. And if they retrofitted the Ralph where do the play in the meantime? Toronto? London? Infrastructure development would be a part of a stadium going downtown. I doubt it would just be a stadium. There would be development of public transportation, railway, roads, etc. Which would help the city in general, outside of just the stadium. I could see where the Pegula's pay for the stadium privately and the state/county and citizens of Erie County pay for the infrastructure upgrades as that will benefit everyone: residents and visitors alike year around.
  23. Indoor facilities are more expensive and as you said, it's only 8 games per year. And there is not much that can be done at the stadium that isn't already done at first Niagara. If they want to add money making features they can put museums/restaurants in the stadium which wouldn't require the expense of a roof.
