  1. Hurts us how? Do we know exactly what his job is? He's a great business operator as the season ticket sales, amenities at the stadium can attest and training camp in Pittsford testify to. He was GM for a time, but wasn't before that and doesn't appear to be now. I would say the Pegula's, business people, have loyalty to a man who is damn good at conducting business. He's not useless in that regard.
  2. Why? I watch him and he's just okay, but nothing great. And he turns the rock over. If he wasn't from Buffalo or named Kelly I wonder if many on the board would feel so strongly about him. Not saying they shouldn't draft him if he's on the board at the right spot and they're still looking for QB at that point in the draft, but I don't see an upgrade. ^^^ All of this. There are no guarantees and we can't say how a draft pick is or isn't after one year or less. Once the film got around on Wentz he started falling off. Prescott's last couple of games look different than the others before. We'll see how they overcome the adversity or don't. Consistency is everything at the QB position. If playoffs could be achieved based on flashes of QB play the Bills would have been out of the drought a long time ago.
  3. I listed the names of QB's in response to someone who said they haven't done anything in 20 years to find a QB. They have tried to find a QB. Because they don't fit your idea of what a franchise QB is is meaningless to the post I responded to. The fact is they have drafted, traded for and signed FA QB's trying to find someone to play it at a high enough level to win games. Some of those QB's played well enough to win some games, but weren't consistent enough, ultimately, to get the Bills over the hump. Obviously these moves have not worked out. That does not mean they have not tried or have ignored the position. Bledsoe was a well respected veteran QB, with a big arm when they traded for him, who had lost his gig to injury. Rob Johnson was the same "hot commodity" that Flynn was considered to be, both based off one great game and potential. Charlie Whitehurst they considered a future star? Based on..? Seems to me if Whitehurst was signed by the Bills you would say how ridiculous it was for the management who signed him to think of him as a potential anything. Russell Wilson turned out to be good (I wanted the Bills to draft him, BTW), but if he hadn't could Seattle fans say they hadn't tried to find a guy? I would say no.
  4. Browns management got rid of too many players. This season is on them more than Jackson. Hue should have never taken that gig. He was coach in waiting in Cincinnati. Rex, I wouldn't be sorry to see him go. If they kept him I wouldn't scream, but to me, he is more interested in winning with his system, to prove a point, than he is in just winning period. He needs to change that attitude to be successful and I don't know if he has it in him to humble himself that much. The Pegula's spend $$$. They will be able to get a good coach. The Bills also have talent on the roster. A lot of young talent too.
  5. They traded a first round pick for Rob Johnson. They traded a first for Drew Bledsoe. They signed Doug Flutie. They drafted Losman in the first. They drafted Edwards in the third. They drafted EJ. They signed Kolb. They signed Tyrod and Cassell. These moves haven't produced Hall of Fame QB play, but this narrative about being cheap and not taking risks is a song sung by a section of the fanbase that continues to be off-key.
  6. The Bills have re-signed many of their own players. They are not a farm system. Not under Whaley.
  7. Alexander won't cost a lot of money at his age. And he won't get more than two or three years anyway. Should be able to get both him and Brown back. I'd get Brown back because I'm hoping Ragland can take over for Preston Brown and let Zach run the weakside LB spot.
  8. Bills should be a lot better. Whaley can't coach the team too. He went all in on his scheme. You don't like Alexander now? Or Zach Brown? And Watkins trade isn't why the Bills lose. Sammy figure at all into Rex's defensive schemes giving up 400 yards of offense to the Steelers today? Or to the Dolphins in Miami? Or other bad showing?
  9. I'm not sure it would be savings. There would still be a cap hit of some degree I believe. We also can't forget that if they move on from Tyrod they have to sign a FA QB. How much would that cost? I would like to see Gilmore/Woods/Alexander come back.
  10. He is good, but 14-15+? At that pay scale he needs to be Deion Sanders level, shutting down half the field, and he is not that.
  11. I think they've always wanted to keep him. But not at highest paid CB in the league money. And they are right to take that stance. Gilmore is not worth 15 million a year. Neither is Josh Norman.
  12. Carpenter needs to be on the same bus Rex is on. He is so unreliable. That onside kick was incompetent. Pop Warner kickers can perform an onside kick. It ain't that difficult.
  13. Cardale has been practing all year and been in meetings, etc. If they put him in then they have seen enough to think he can be successful enough. But even if Jones does play, no matter how he looks, they should still be drafting another QB and bringing in a veteran to compete with him.
  14. Belicheck's assistant coaches don't seem to have the same success once they get out from under his wing. But I'm all for a new head coach. Rex is fraudulent. That was a hot mess on the field today. The first half they looked incompetent on all fronts. Second half was minimally better. And this was basically a playoff game.
  15. Fitz is a good backup. No reason, outside of injury, for any team to have him starting a game.
  16. I would like to see them re-sign Woods too. But he will be able to make a good payday come this spring. Will the Bills pay him what the going rate will be for someone with Woods' production? And Woods might want a chance to play in an offense that is not predicated on running the rock so much. I'm sure he would like the opportunity to catch more passes.
  17. How do you know a WR wouldn't be the best player available with their first pick? Too early for any of us to say what they should or shouldn't take at this point. We know what they need, which includes WR. We don't know how the draft will play out or how players will be viewed by the time they get through the combine/pro days/interviews.
  18. Whatever team Jeff Fisher is coaching...
  19. Most definitely he stunk today.
  20. I hope the Bills make the playoffs somehow, because there are some miserable fans in the Bills mafia. And even If they make the playoffs there will undoubtedly be a group of fans complaining because they made it however they made it and not some other kind of way.
  21. Prescott went in the 4th round. He's playing beyond expectations; which were that he would be a project. He went five spots in front of Cardale. Tells me they liked him more than loved him; same as 31 other teams. Maybe they would have taken him instead of Cardale if he were available, but obviously Whaley wasn't pressed to get him. If Dak did come to the Bills, Tyrod would still be starting most likely. Carolina needed a QB. That they didn't trade the pick that year makes sense. And how do you know the Nix didn't inquire about moving up? How do you know Carolina did not say they weren't trading it under any circumstances? How do you know the price wasn't too exorbitant? Really? You mean as opposed to Dallas where Romo's been injured and missed major time the past three season? Okay then...
  22. Coach O is probably who the players loved and the administration wanted to keep some continuity. They can always fire him if the results stay middling and a candidate they love comes free. No Jimbo. No Herman. They just are waiting on the future and hoping Coach O becomes great somehow. Although I never understood how a program with LSU's profile had such a hard time finding competent QB's or couldn't coach up the one's they had.
  23. He'll probably get at least 8. Sanu and Jones got that and their numbers are all fairly even, with Woods having done it for one less year. Now if his knee injury is more serious that could depress his market. After Alshon Jeffrey it's Woods and Floyd. Slim pickins for FA WR's in 2017.
  24. Romo has missed a lot of time with injury over the past few seasons. And he's older. Can't see that trend reversing. Bad backs are especially no bueno no matter what age.
