  1. If they move on from Tyrod they need to spend the cap savings to re-sign or sign players at Impact positions, draft a QB and let him and Cardale battle it out. Forget the Hoyer's of the world. But if you hated ground and pound the last two years get ready...
  2. Lions D did enough to keep them in it. Lions offense couldn't get anything going.

  6. They are interviewing pretty much the same candidates as the other teams save for the Pats duo and Shanahan, whom they interviewed two years ago and as Sal says didn't nece impress. What star is Jerry looking for? Wouldn't matter if they hired Jesus. Sullivan would say the guy the Bills hired hasn't worked miracle in centuries. Why hire him? Typical Bills. He's the town crier at this point. I used to read his stuff and find some agreement but he jumped the shark a while ago.
  7. Many folks just don't like Whaley is what it is. That's fine, but tell us something that makes sense even if others might disagree.
  8. Remember what I was said about this..? Prime examples.
  9. No one is interviewing Schwartz for a HC position at this point. Maybe he's not well thought of in that position around the league? And Bradley who just got fired? Not that Bradley...
  10. If whomever he hires doesn't win that will threaten his job security. So where are you going with your narrative?
  11. Problem is PFT is a blog. I don't think they claim to be journalists. Which is possibly pushing trained journalists to cut corners to keep up w/the clicks for ad dollars.
  12. I don't think it will be that cut and dry. I think at worst we would see the three headed QB competition of two years ago w/Cardale, a rookie and a lower wage vet.
  13. Who is just realizing? The Bills? I disagree if that's what you're saying. He played the last game of the season in the final quarter. They know where he is. They didn't want to play him, but EJ was so bad he couldn't do worse. And he didn't.
  14. Jauron being hired was like seeing a car about to hit your car but there's no way to avoid it. Hard times...
  15. Why isn't he a candidate with any organization so far?
  16. I like your optimism. Agree with Glenn to RT. Gilmore I agree with for the right $. Trading down from 10 to get an extra pick I would not mind at all. The TT portion of the trade I don't think is viable. The Browns are in re-building mode for a while. Because they have a lot of picks don't mean they will all pan out or that enough will play good enough to make an impact right away. They have a lot of holes. They need to take a young QB who can grow with the rest of their young players. If they trade for anything I can see them trading for offensive linemen who are young-ish. The Oline is an area that ages better than most positions and gives value to the young skill position players who would be on the field. I know they have a lot of money under the cap though so perhaps they can convince enough players to take their money, but we shall see. Hughes, I don't think the Bills will want to trade. If the next coach is a Defensive minded guy Hughes will be one of the pieces he will want to get back to normal, along with Dareus. That's all young talent. You can't be suggesting they trade those players? If Cleveland had that list they would be closer to coming out of their rebuild than they are now by far. What the Bills need to do is build on those names.
  17. You all don't remember all of those 2-14, 4-12 seasons in the Red lids when, as opposed to now, the team really was a joke? I guess not. Best case: Hire the right HC, who hires the right coordinators - particularly a DC who runs a 4-3. Bring back Tyrod. Trade down, pick up an extra pick or two in 2nd or 3rd round and Draft a QB in the first 3 rounds. Re-structure Kyle's deal. One year added to his current deal and spread money out for cap room. The right coach does not have to be a popular name in media circles. Identify the best leader among the interviewees with the strongest vision and support him with the necessary staff and players. (which I have no doubt they will do.) Relax. Remember Rex was a big name coup for the Bills and we see how that worked out. If, comparatively, the next HC is a "who?" the Bills can still win so long as it is the right "who?" Worst case: Let Tyrod walk and can't replace him with a viable option.
  18. Shanahan interviewed for the HC gig two years ago. Did he not impress? That might be your answer to why he is not being approached this time around if it holds to form throughout the process.
  19. It's possible for that's the case. I tend to doubt it though unless a "czar" is brought in. If not I think Whaley and coach have a longer rope. Unless they go totally in the tank, like 3 or four wins.
  20. Oakland Seattle Pittsburgh Green Bay
  21. Coaches do not care about press conferences. Most of them are not comfortable in front of a microphone either. It is not a natural thing to do. What they will care about is organizational structure, roster, et al., which will be discussed face to face in the interviews w/ the principals involved. The Bills aren't begging for someone to take the job. There are a lot of positives there in spite of the current narrative. They will get a coach they like. Is it a coach the fans will like or the media will accept without trying to spin it negatively because it isn't McDaniels or Patricia? That's a separate issue.
  22. I get that, but if he's not the man to hire and fire how open can he be? He still has to toe the company line, no? I wouldn't expect him to say, "It wasn't me. I wanted Hue Jackson and Schwartz to stay on as DC. The Pegula's wanted Rex and I did what I had to do." Whaley isn't a great public speaker, but I think the answers are between the lines with him usually. BTW, thank you for the interaction. It was telling who the Pegula's responded to in order to clarify things. They seem to be people who respond to fairness, even if it comes within a valid critique; as opposed to other styles of reporting.
  23. I wouldn't be overly concerned about the press game. It's a lot of junior high he said she said not type stuff. No one at the press conference is calling a play come September and no one who they hire as coach is worrying himself about public relations capabilities of the team. If they come in for an interview that narrative can be put to rest easily. They will have the access TBN isn't getting. What these candidates will also know is that the Pegula's paid Rex very well, gave him the huge coaching staff he wanted and paid all of those assistants and had a GM who got players Rex felt he needed. The coach was supported by the organization. Rex did not deliver on his end, in fact taking his unit backward, but it was not because the owner/front office did not provide resources. Let the media talk about that while they talk about press conferences and press releases. The Bills are bad at press conferences. The Pegula's got taken in by Rex. The fact Whaley is still there tells me the Pegula's did make the call on Rex. This next coach is all Whaley's to sink or swim with.
