  1. i would be most pleased with draft #2.
  2. I like the standing buffalo better than the charging buffalo
  3. I would love this draft, especially if fairley isnt there at the number three pick. We have to go with the best talent available and its either aj green or peterson. With a team such as ours, you can never get enough talent. I know that we have more significant positional needs but really almost every position on our team is a positional need. Aj Green & Patrick Peterson would be the lowest risk choices. They are on a level of their own with fairley being a close second (talent wise). Find that superstar to build your team around. CB is a more of a need at this stage than WR but i would not be disappointed with Green or Paterson.
  4. We will beat them next year. I can feel it.
  5. One thing I like about merriman is that he seems pretty down to earth and honest during radio interviews. Let's face it, because buffalo is a smaller market and not a very sexy city incentive for a decent free agent to come here doesn't exist. It doesn't help that we have a losing team. Merriman may serve as an ice breaker for free agents especially if we have a winning season next year.
  6. Best unis I have ever seen. Wouldn't mind the bills following the same pattern. Maybe they could win like the ducks then too.
  7. I think that it is very possible that all four of the top defensive players will be on the draft board when we select at number three. Carolina was set on Andrew Luck, especially after the way Jimmy Clausen performed this year. Since Luck is not declaring there is a very good chance that the Panthers select AJ Green with the first overall pick. Steve Smiths performace continues to decline and they need a deep threat in the passing game. Secondly, there is a strong chance that the Denver Broncos go with Patrick Peterson. Champ Bailey has expressed that he is not interested in staying with the Broncos and is looking to transition to safety in attempts to prolong his NFL career. If this scenario takes place then we will have our choice of Nick Fairley, Da'Quan Bowers, Marcell Dareus, or Robert Quinn.
  8. This would be in excellent signing if we could pick him up. The great thing about free agency is it eliminates the element of risk. We know this guy is a solid player and would do well for our team. Taking someone like patrick peterson would be much more risky because he is an unproven player in the national football league. If he was signed and a defensive stud was drafted in the first round along with solid linebacker in the second or third round buffalo would be poised to make a playoff run.
  9. A football team is like a machine with many moving parts, each part with a specific job. When the part succcessfully carries out its job, the machine runs well; when it fails or breaks, the whole machine underperforms. For this reason I would not take a corner back in the first three rounds. Our defensive front seven is atrocious and have severly underperformed this season (with exceptions to Williams). Consequently, our secondary has had to make many more tackles and have not been able to record nearly as many turnovers because we are getting no pressure on the quarterback. Plus, our run defense is dead last so the opposing team never needs to throw. Secondly, this year our O line was a patch work job again. It was no where near as bad as our D line but it still underperformed. Luckily we had a somewhat mobil qb in fitzpatrick. Not so mobil qbs such as edwards and brohm were devoured by the opponents defense. Imagine what Fitz could do with a great offensive line. This is where the ripple effect comes into play. Like Newton said, for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. With a good O line Our running game would improve (Spiller would have more space to run), Fitz would have even more time to make decisions and receivers would in result make more catches for more yards. If we had a better defensive front, we would have more interceptions, bc there would be more ill advised and hurried passes. Also if our defensive front seven proved they could stop the run our opponents would take more chances in the air and statistics show that the more pass attempts by the opponent, the more chances for interceptions. In conclusion, don't get down on Byrd or even whitner. Without a great pass rush, interceptions are extremely difficult to come by. If we choose Bowers, Fairley, Dareus, or Quinn in this years draft and take a OLB in the second round it could improve our pass rush and run defense which would instantly improve our secondary. Also if we can avoid injury on the O line and develop bettter run blocking, perhaps spiller and jackson could combine for a 1800+ yard season. Just dont forget, upgrading one part of your offense and defense also upgrades the rest of the offense or defense.
  10. you guys forget that we are playing without parrish, evans, and now Nelson and jones, oh and dont forget about marcus easley.
  11. Have you been watching the Bills this season?
  12. i do not believe the bills will select a QB past the first round. There are too many other holes, especially in the defense to take a chance on a position that we do not necessarily "need" to be successful. If the bills dont make a move for a QB in the first round we will not draft a qb. Since Luck wont be available, we should pursue Fairley, Bowers, or Quinn (in that order).
  13. can I ask you a very serious question? Why are you a bills fan if this is how you feel?
  14. Newton is very high risk but potentially extremely high reward. We may end up choosing his dt teammate before we choose him.
  15. Vince Young is more of a risk than a draft selection
  16. This season has been the ultimate bitter sweet affair. It has been bitter in the obvious sense that we are faced with yet another losing season. However, it has been sweet in regards to the number of pleasant surprises that we have encountered. It all starts with the hiring of Buddy Nix who then found and hired Chan Gailey. Chan has impressed me this season with his ability to rally the troops and slowly turn the page on a less than mediocre losing team. He is gradually changing the culture of this football team. For once we are competitive and we have players that are gradually beginning to step up and make big plays. Chan has done an excellent job of putting his players in a position to be successful. He has a nack for optimizing efficiency and productivity with the roster he has. He also has impressed me with his clever playcalling and ability to make noticeable adjustments mid-game. Ryan Fitzpatrick has also turned heads. He is a perfect poster child of the buffalo bills blue collar, hard working, tough type vibe. I would give him a B+ so far for this year. He is a definate huge upgrade from Trent Edwwards. He is a gunslinger and has made some pretty impressive throws in tirght coverage. He is a gamer and is very gutsy. He is not afraid to take a big hit or throw a big block downfield for his guys. However he has made some errant throws and has tendencies to make poor throws at vital times. Overall, I am very impressed with his performace this year. If luck is not available, we will not be drafting a qb. Despite his recent plague with huge drops, Stevie Johnson has also been a huge surprise and success. He is giving us the production we expected out of James Hardy and was taken four rounds further back than Hardy. I think Johnson is our receiver of the future and look for him to post big numbers for a long time.B+ for Stevie Johnson I will give Spiller a C+. I honestly did expect a little more from Spiller this year but we need to realize that the transition from college to the NFL is very difficult and there is a large learning curve. I think the more snaps spiller gets, the better he will get. The game will begin to slow down for him and he wont try to break it to the outside every snap. Freddy Jackson is a great mentor for him and I expect big things from Spiller in the future. He has the potential to be an X-factor type of player for us similar to a Josh Cribbs, Ray Rice, or Chris Johnson. Spiller is a play maker at heart and Chan will figure out how to use him. We have had an excellent year with finding undrafted rookies. David Nelson has been an excellent addition and has made many key catches in key situations. Donald Jones has also stepped up and made plays when it counted. Other notables are Mansfield Wrotto & Cordero Howard. By far though the biggest star from the undrafted pool is Nelson. Wouldnt mind seeing him bulk up and move to the TE position. There are also some intruiging question marks for next year. Will Merrimen stay? will he be healthy? will he be effective? Will Marcus Easley live up to the hype? Will Ed Wang be productive? Will Roscoe Parrish come back healthy and continue to make big plays? Will we finally cut ties with Maybin? Will Poz be extended? Will Whitner get a big conract extension? Will Eric Wood be our permanent center? Draft day is by far the most exciting time for me in sports. More so than the super bowl, unless of course the bills were in the super bowl. If Luck is not available, which he most likely wont be, my first pick would be Nick Fairley out of Auburn. However I wouldnt mind taking Da'Quan Bowers, Marcell Dareus, or Robert Quinn. I would look for a OLB in round two of the draft.
  17. i was actually thinking about this exact same topic and it was initiated after watching the draft day trade episode on NFL Network
  18. When i first viewed this mock draft I was shocked that they had buffalo taking AJ Green and somewhat angry. However, maybe it wouldnt be such a bad idea. I know that defense is an important part of winning but what if we adopted a high powered offense mentality, similar to the chargers, where our offense was so potent and capable of posting huge numbers, that the need for a lights out defense wasnt as crucial. It becomes a conflict of interest. It becomes a choice of which side of the ball you want to invest in. I actually wouldnt mind snagging AJ Green. This would give us possibly the most dangerous receiving corps in the NFL. Throw Spiller and Jackson into the mix and we would be very dangerous, especially with The Gunslinger Ryan Fitzpatrick behind center. We need to develop an identity. Why not be a high powered potent offensive team. Evans, Parrish, Johnson, Green, Nelson, and Easley as WR's. Jackson and Spiller in the backfield. Pick up a solid OT in the draft and We would be very very dangerous.
  19. I don't understand how a losing out mentality simply to get better draft picks promotes a winning culture. Each game that these guys get a win, is crucial to slowly overthrowing the long time norm of chronic losing. Winning most of the remaining games would be an excellent way to end the season and give us something substantial to build upon. Also, being competetive and winning games is much more attractive to possible free agents.
  20. I couldn't have said it any better. Spot on
  21. Maybe chan gailey was referring to lee evan's lack of effort when he wouldn't reveal what he had learned about the team lol. Personally, i think evans has been a quality receiver for us but would gladly take a third round draft pick for him. I know that a draft pick is a risk but the more draft picks we compile the better chance we have of landing future stud players.
  22. my brother is in iraq right now serving for 1/1000th the money that he makes. Rolle's statement is uncalled for and disrespectful to our soldiers. Some of these guys just dont get it. They fail to realize how good they have it. I dont see how getting paid millions to play a sport for fun is similar to trying to survive in a warzone and sacrificing your life to protect the people of a country. get a life Rolle
  23. He will bounce back. This is a great test and lesson for him. If he handles it right he can use it to become a better receiver.
