McD deserves credit and also deserves criticism. On that everyone should agree. He hasn’t ruined Allen, so at least there’s that. He’s created a culture in which Josh can flourish and become a global icon. The O philosophy is obviously a massive win for him. He fired Dorsey whom he never should have hired in the first place! His D needs to be better. -

NOBODY is more aggressive than Dan Campbell. He is aggressive for the sake of being aggressive. It’s his identity. -

I hate our D Line

Tale as old as time. Another Prima Donna. First Lady of the team. Looks like his career is on the decline.
-
Puca is absolutely elite and one of the top 3 receivers in the game. It’s still concerning that nobody could make a play last week. One big stop would have been enough the way Josh was playing. The third down conversion rate was absolutely unacceptable.

Kupp eye candy?

So many missed holding calls last week. This week they’re calling holding… Q for experts: are O linemen allowed to grab defenders by their neck and haul them down to the ground?
-
His philosophy seems to be: Run on us as much as you want. Move the ball up and down the field. We’re not gonna try to stop anything. We won’t let Tyreek Hill run for 80 yards but everything else, please be our guest. We’re just gonna rally to the ball and tackle. You can kill us but you have to kill us slowly. Our QB is really good therefore it doesn’t matter how bad my D is… Does he take pride in this approach? Shocking how mediocre Stafford looks against SF. He also looked mediocre in the first half (in the dome!) the week before against the Saints too. He came alive in the second half in that game.

The root source of D problems is the D Line

Well said. Absolutely. Split the reps. Hasn’t Dorian earned it? -
Agree that Milano needs significant time to shake off the rust. But why not split some reps with Dorian? Hasn’t Dorian earned it?

I’m not sure about the rest of you, but I’m glad we’re playing Detroit this week. The final 3 games of the season won’t have much intensity because of the low quality of our opponents. This is the game of the week, and it will tell us a lot about the reality of our Super Bowl aspirations. Competing against Detroit gives us a chance to see if McD’s D can elevate its play to compete against a Super Bowl caliber group. We already know QB 1 is having an MVP caliber season. Our future first ballot HoF QB has nothing left to prove. We need the D to step the hell up. They need to play their part in a potential superbowl run.

An absolute disaster by the coaches at the end of this game
The Helmet of replied to Success's topic in The Stadium Wall
That was a blunder. But it was a small factor in the overall loss. I’m much more concerned with the fact that McVay’s O B-slapped McD’s D up and down the field for 60 minutes. McD and Babich had NO answers. And coach Smiley obviously has egg all over his kisser. -
12/8/24 Game 14 GAMEDAY! Bills vs Rams post game Thread
The Helmet of replied to BuffaloBill's topic in The Stadium Wall
Here’s a question I have for NFL aficionados and junkies. Rams beat the Saints last week, in NO, 21-14. The Saints actually shut the Rams out in the first half. Stafford found his rhythm in the second. The week before against the Eagles, they were hot and cold, scoring only 20 in a loss. Rams were 0-8 on third down in that one! Under 200 yards passing. What did the Saints and Eagles D do that ours couldn’t? How was McVay’s O able to b-word slap McD’s D up and down the field. This is on McD’s unit. He should feel embarrassed. Your QB plays like a GOD and you piss all over yourself for 60 minutes. -

McD has a man crush on Milano. Glad he’s out there but was seeing a lot of great stuff from Dorian… want to see him have some snaps. -

For sure that was holding. But the D had all game to get a stop and they couldn’t rise to the occasion. -

Don’t want to be an alarmist. But after watching football for 40 years this is what I think. This defense is really BAD. There are so many ways to beat them! With speed. With size. With scheme. Can’t stop the run. Don’t even want to stop the run. You can’t get a finger on Stafford? He’s not a mobile guy. Stafford didn’t have a single bad play. Whenever you have a team go 90% on third down conversion it’s a sign that something is seriously wrong. I don’t mind the loss. I am concerned that this defense is simply not good. They won’t be able to stop Detroit, Philly, Baltimore… and LA apparently. For sure, they can beat anyone because Allen is a GOD. But he has to overcome a mediocre and oftentimes just plain bad defense. Where does McD’s D excel? The philosophy seems to be “ You can have the whole field. Do whatever you want. We’ll try to get a stop in the red zone.” That’s not a formula to win a championship. I give McD credit for creating a great team culture. But his D are not built to win championships and never have been. -

For this half at least, the Rams are faster, more physical, and better coached. -
I don’t watch network news but I do watch YouTube! Love this team. What a bunch of awesome guys.

That means the expectation is that a team goes 17-0 and has no bad plays?

The hyper elevated levels of testosterone running through his veins tells him that the aggressive call is always the right call. It will catch up to him eventually. Law of averages. 100 years of punting on fourth down deep in your own territory is precedent for a reason. But he thinks he’s going to reinvent the wheel.
