  1. tag him if you have to- he's not hitting the open market...I think we have a quarterback
  2. Schwartz had a good year as DC he also had terrible years, and to act like this defense under schwartz would have over came the different pieces and the injuries is dreaming to say the least. No Spikes and move Preston over too, Bradham goes out injured as well. Start without McKelvin, loose Aaron Williams, have to play Graham all year at safety for the first time in his career. No Searcy plug in Rambo (whos descent) or Duke (whos not) and loose Kyle Williams and Jarius Wynn. These same people cried last year about Schwartz rotating guys in. My thought is with Schwartz we're about the same on points per game and less on yardage but also very close. This goes next to the undisciplined team UNDER Rex ...Buffalo was 5th most penalized with Marrone while out of control Rex and the Jets were 22nd. Doesnt fit the argument so pull a WGR and ignore it. Lastly we talk like we just finished a 2-14 season. It was 8-8 boys and many of us will be eating our words in 2016- I'll take the guy with the 16 year long track record of building dominating defenses.
  3. If Smerlas were on a consistent winner he'd likely be a hall of famer. His pro bowl and all NFL awards came in his 2nd 3rd year usually takes a few years to get noticed for those types of things but he was that dominating. His level of play was still tremendous when the Bills as a team stunk and he went unnoticed by most. When the Bills rebounded at the end of his career here he STILL was playing well getting not only a pro bowl invite but was all conference in 1988 AND 1989. I was suprised to see Tasker on someones over rated list- to me he's STILL underated unless you saw him play it's hard to explain how great he was. The downing of the football, the tackles usually first down there and never missing, the fumbles recoveries the punt blocks and he can return punts (4th in the league 1995 and kickoffs 2nd in league 1985) the 7 probowls, the 7 years all NFL. overrated- Nate Clements, Josh Reed, Shane Conlan, underated- John Holecek, Eric Moulds
  4. not this year
  5. is Mel trying to get his picks right, meaning what he thinks that particular team will do OR what HE thinks they should do?
  6. quit going back in time and crying
  7. very good players who has averaged 315 touches in 8 years on the wrong side of 30.
  8. playoff rushing numbers were still good just not 1 guy-- these are the numbers for just the rbs Texans 114 KC 105 Pitt 123 Pack 116 Panth 123 Pack 112 Chiefs 91 Denver 100 Panthe 134 Panthers 118 Denver 90
  9. Two reasons , injuries and RB by committee is how the league has gone but the carries and yards are still there atleast for the teams that win Pittsburgh : DeAngelo Williams 907, LeVeon Bell 556 =1463yds and 14 tds and a 4.7 average Cincy : Hill 794 , Bernard 730 = 1524yds and a 4.0 ave Houston: had 4 different starting rbs = 1573 KC: Charles 364, Ware 403, West 634 = 1401 4.6 average in a Andy Reid offense Denver: Hillman 863, Anderson 720 = 1583 4.5 ave 12 TD's Washington: =1451 Green Bay: Lacy 758, Starks 601 = 1359 Vikings; Peterson 1485, McKinnon 271 = 1756 13 TDS 4.6 ave Arizona: C.Johnson 814, D.Johnson 571, Eillington 289 =1674 14TD's the two teams with qb's who run alot... even WITHOUT the qb rush numbers Seattle: Rawls, Lynch =1247 +wilson 553 1800 Carolina: = 1245 +cam 636 1881 Those who think you don't win running the football or ONLY if you don't have a "elite" qb are way off Saints 1144 Falcons 1393 Colts 1042 Chargers 977 Giants 1120 if your qb is not named Tom Brady you dont run you won't win
  10. in a year where it's in flux the once great players are sliding, or big time players are hurt you have a good chance to win with dominating defense and game manager. This was one of those years
  11. I hope you were taking notes watching DE's drop into coverage for both teams
  12. I will admit this...how they envisioned bringing him along did get screwed up but he's wildly inconsistent not from game to game but series to series. I can see him figuring it out at like 30 years old but never being anywhere near the word good.
  13. over the hump?... it wasn't Shanahan it was Terrell Davis while Wade had Rod Bernstine at RB it what we USED to do....like other bad organizations, we've stopped doing that
  14. Rodgers probably wins one super bowl like now
  15. Wade has a .562 winning percentage which is hurt by a couple 3 or 5 game interm coach stints winning percentage should be .570 This is over 146 games so it's not like a 2 year run. 9 years as head man two losing records, 5 playoff teams Better winning percentage than Shanahan, Jimmy Johnson, Chuck Knox, Mike Ditka, Marv Levy, Coughlin or the legend Gruden. Better than a lot of current coaches Del Rio, Kubiak, Garrett, and yes Rex Chuck Noll is .566 Parcells is .569 Am I saying Wade is up with the greats ? No but he's been extremely successful more than most realize but its the way he carries himself the "country bumpkin" look scares owners away but no one can dispute he's one of the smartest X's and O's guys in the game
  16. hes an alcoholic and so is his girlfriend this isn't about football this is just a sad life story. I hope they both get help anti depressants and alcohol can end up in tragedy
  17. Then there's this: Dilfer's old coach with the Baltimore Ravens, Brian Billick, hinted at this point on our panel two weeks back, saying "It’s what’s being called and the way they want to play it. So it’s two different conversations: Is he operating within the offense and can they win that way vs. is he going to be a legitimate, elite, upper-echelon quarterback?” So apparently Billick actually questions the offensive scheme? this to me is the most important part but not really a negative: the way Roman had to call this offense was with the "nugget" best chance to win. You had a first year starting QB and coaches with all new players and you can not ignore the injuries on offense let's cut it loose with Woods, Hogan and Gragg. Roman felt the best option was not to cut Tyrod loose because it if fails you've lost him. I like what Roman did and how he did it there is a method to his madness. You can see what has happened to Kaep without Roman. They will open things up next year with Tyrod I guarantee it
  18. The NFL is a money hungry league that only cares about the dollar bills and nothing else. I'm an admitted NFL nut I love the game and overlook that they don't really give a damn about: fixing their image problems the fans the league the history it's former players the cities their teams are in I watch every week despite the league: being corupt needing younger officials badly Thursday night product being substandard not having a clue or looking for one on how to make the league better what I question is it coming back to bite them at some point....HOW ?
  19. with Nate Hackett too who could ask for anything more? EJ has never adapted to the speed of the NFL and guys are rarely wide open.
  20. your stealing money Jerry, wtf are you at the super bowl for?
  21. im sure 49ers would love to get out from under that contract...who in the world is calling him a franchise qb
  22. jets had a descent club he acts like they would have been in the super bowl
  23. as stated here many times and many ways....been alot of super bowl mismatches. I would argue the Dallas team Buffalo had to play twice prior to salary cap era was an all time great team. Also agree its a stupid question....but who watches ESPN anymore
