NFL Playoff expansion????
CardinalScotts replied to KellyToTasker's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
your hard pressed to find 6 good teams in each conference, they are letting lousy teams in now...some even with a descent records (atlanta, texans) who we all know arent going anywhere -

a qb rating of 43.3 and 119 yds in the "big game" would not qualify as carried...was carried - yes again too much credit and too much blame -

What does "Elite" mean ? Can carry a club or is it winning big games ? Brady and P. Manning to me are a rung above others Rodgers, Luck, Eli Manning are the next level I know Luck is a small sample but he is unreal, then it drops another rung Brees, Rothlisberger - you have to look at the whole picture. Big Ben is awesome in the clutch but that's provided the defense has kept the game close. Example over the last three years with Ben at QB Pittsburgh has given up more than 21 points 11 times Big Bens record 2-9 thats not carrying a team. Holding a team to 9 while the offense score 16 is how Pitt wins. from here its a pool of about 25 guys who don't seperate themselves by much, choke in the clutch, cant carry the team, or are on a great team and along for the ride but prevent them from reaching the super bowl. -
Colin Kaepernick [get 'er dun!]

Refs playing favorites?
CardinalScotts replied to Drop Kick Flutie's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
they HOLD nearly every snap , if you get Jerome Booger and the boys they call it, Mike Carey's crew as well (although they are terrible officials). Clete Blakemans could phone it in. Good teams get away with more penalties, when we get to the point of being pretty good the tide will turn. The pass interference calls are what drives me nuts - no consistency from game to game- one calls everything next guy calls nothing and they seem to have thrown out the part about a catchable pass -
"Building the Franchise the right way"

of course the playoffs exclusions to this are- San Fran who tried to lure Payton Manningand when they couldn't went with Alex Smith again and at first opportunity replaced him - with Kaepernick who might be something, might not... they don't have a QB Chicago has a nice name in Cutler but he's not a big game producer anymore cracking 300 yards once this season in game 1 has 15 td's 11 ints Seattle starts a rookie in Russell Wilson so it's understanding why they are the 4th lowest scoring team in the league, despite Marshawn Lynch having a huge year Houston Matt Schaub has been under 275 in 9 of 12 games, and has only attempted over 40 passes twice both overtime games Pittsburgh has a proven quarterback, but it's the defense which is always how they have won for the last 20 years is again 2nd in pts given up some Steelers playoff games Big Ben has thrown for 133-188-197-208-123-223-181-226 - hardly a dominating force. Baltimore no one has relied on the other side of the ball more than Joe has chipped in Baltimore playoffs games with yardage of 135-161-141-189-125-176 The point is all these teams win of defense, and compliment it with a good running game. Wins and Losses are not the Quarterbacks stat its a team stat. Do you want to discuss these quarterbacks riding along while the defense wins the game - it's hard to ignore. The only one who has a little wiggle room is Ben because the guy is clutch and the end of close game, of course why are they close - yep defense again. And he's always had a back breaking running attack he's success throwing over 35-40 times a game is very low. Build the defense then the offense plays as a compliment to the defense not separate, unless your can find a Manning or Brady or Rodgers. Even Brees who 5-4 in the playoffs has found it tough with games of 243-247-187 -
Joe Flacco - interested?

Wins are a team stat not QB..that is a weak argument -
I agree but your not good enough so you trade from your strength, we have two excellent runningbacks - we need LB's and WR's
-
Brooks.........I have high hopes for him in time but today he was abused, no crying about the wildcat today?

too many games to go a lot can change

Kelso is so bad on WGR pre-game IMO
CardinalScotts replied to San-O's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
he said this isnt the time to talk about the future qb thats not what we are doing, we talking about winning a football game for today - he can do that he has the qualities you need Basically saying to beat Jags today he can do it, long term ???? - this isnt what were talking about today. It was clear to me...but I also think he does a great job explaining schemes and what works against it -
What's wrong with the Bills
CardinalScotts replied to bisonbrigade's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Understand we are short a couple players from being a playoff team. On Defense- Bradham looks promising but the rest of our LB's are brutal, we only have one corner in Gilmore and Byrd is the only safety of NFL Caliber. For the first part of the year we couldnt play traditional football and play field position and punt the football because we played a lot of good teams, the defense was struggling and we needed to try and win it on offense. On Offense- the spread formation is what allows Spiller to run the football, we've all seen what happens on third and short when we pack it in and the defense knows we are going to try and run it- were stuffed repeatedly. Glenn is an absolute mauler but Wood hasn't had a good year, LeVitre is solid but does not handle size well, Urbik is descent but in and out of the lineup and Hairston filling in for an injured Pears is not very good- in short to go with a pro set we would get dominated. Fitz always has "the what the hell throw" but what kills drives are the penalties on the o-line and the drops by the wideouts consistly more than poor throws. We expect him to complete passes to "wide open guys" under pressure on the run pretty unrealistic - he could play better for sure but step one is get him some weapons to throw to. In short stay the course quit starting over every 3 years, Gailey is a good coach we do not have a team full of great players and he sure feels like man on man blocking along the Offensive line verus the defensive line wouldnt work and Nix is a good GM it just takes time. They weren't here for 13 years but from 2009 (not not Nix draft) LeVitre, Wood, Byrd 2010 Spiller, 2011 Marcel Dareus, 2012 Glenn, Gilmore Bradham we've added some good players. Guys like Aaron Williams, Alex Carrington, Terrell Troup high picks that seem to be misses- then again they are young enough they might turn into something. Bottom line is the talent level is still low would give them another year. My wish is much like adding Mario on the Dline they go get the best LB out there. We were so frustrated and quick to jump on Mario but he's a pretty good player, once the wrist issue was taken care of he's been a force -
would you rather win out or loss out.
