and thats why i think having brohm did impact our decision not to take clausen, clearly our FO did not view clausen as a top notch prospect, and since we already had a guy with similiar skills in brohm, why take clausen when we have other needs

Clausen was my 2nd fav qb in this draft, however, we made the right move by getting troup over clausen. we cant run a 3-4 with kyle williams being the every down NT, and Nix knew that. Brian brohm prob has alot to do with us not taking a QB high, I think they have high hopes for him.

I think we can be competitive and finish anywhere from 8-8 to 11-5

thats not the original question though, kirwan asked, how is the run D going to improve when we took a rb first and are switching to a 3-4 defense. we've done quite a bit to shore up the run D so far, and found guys to fit the 3-4 defense, whether or not they produce on the field is a question we cant answer yet, but on paper we have addressed those issues. For a journalists and former GM like Kirwan to fail to acknowledge that fact, I find it sloppy work. Of course having a more productive offense will help the D, but that wasn't part of what he said.

Buffalo Bills: I will get some negative comments about the Lions being ranked ahead of the Bills, but Buffalo has many problems. Who is the QB? Who blocks the edges in the protection schemes? Who replaces the production WR Terrell Owens delivered last year? How does a defense that gave up 156.3 yards per game on the ground get better when the front office took a running back in the first round of the draft and converted to a 3-4 scheme? i usually like kirwan, he's a fairly knowledgable guy, but come on, As a former GM he should know that its not all about the first rd, bringing in troup, carrington, edwards, davis, should go a long way towards shoring up that run D, plus moving guys like maybin, poz, and even ellis to positions that better suit their talents. we should be able to cut that # in half almost

very true, Leaf was a giant douche, however, one could argue that thru his complete indifference towards the job that jamarcus is equally as douchey as Leaf, and may have even surpassed him in douchiness on the football field. i didnt say anything about him being a thug, i think its very selective that hes the only one who isnt allowed to have dogs in his condo though. I havent been a big proponent of keeping lynch around, but at some point we have to let it go, the whole stealing $20 bucks thing was shakey from what ive read, and from the sounds of it he has been trying to keep a low profile. it almost sounds like lynch has been "scarred straight" by the blatant racists of buffalo. The article certainly paints an ugly picture for the city. It does sound like he has learned his lesson and has decided to rededicate himself to the game, which is what we all wanted to hear. Ok, lets do the math here, to draft high (top 10) we would need to win 6 or less games rights, based on this yrs draft. So do I want us to win 6 or less games for an unforeseen period until we get lucky and draft a good QB at the top....... NO Just cause you draft a QB high doesn't mean he will pan out, and I understand everybody here wants to deepthroat Jake locker, and I hear that andrew Luck is on his heels getting the reach-around from many.
