  1. My point was that saying the program at stanford "didn't do him any favors" is a BS excuse, he chose to play there, with offers from michigan and florida on the table among others, Trent chose Stanford, and he didnt make that team any better. i'm sure he got a great education and will be very successful putting that degree to use in the VERY near future, however, he had better options and didnt take'em. he couldve transferred to another program, maybe a good program, instead he stayed at the crappy one, content with mediocrity. As someone mentioned earlier, he has been living off his HS rep for years without ever really producing anything of merit, he got the endorsement of an aging football god, and all of a sudden nothing is his fault, there's always some other reason he fails, and I'm tired of hearing it. BTW, here's a short list of top rated qbs coming out of HS recently: 2003-Chris leak, kyle wright, jamarcus russell, robert lane, syvelle newton. 2004-Rhett Bomar, Anthony Morelli, brian brohm 2005: Ryan Perriloux, jonathan crompton, harrison beck 2006: mitch mustain, juice williams, jevaen snead Being highly touted in HS is not a free pass for being ****ty for the rest of your career, evreything ive seen from trent since the arizona game points to him being timid and unsure of himself, his career YPA college and pro has never gone over 7.0, meaning he's a small ball QB to begin with WHICH IS PROBABLY WHY BILL WALSH LIKED HIM SO MUCH. he lost the locker room last year and has yet to show he can be an effective leader. frankly, im tired of alll the excuses for his failure to date, he's had 3 yrs and has done nothing (when healthy) to warrant the support that he somehow still has. thats all
  2. and he couldve transferred too, just like mallett, or mike paulus, or the hundreds of other transfers. he could've gone to any # of big time programs, but chose to go to Stanford, fine college, not a great football program.
  3. that wasnt the point at all, but sure, go ahead and jump to that conclusion if you want to.
  4. correct me if I'm wrong but he CHOSE to go to the worst program in the Pac-10, did he not?
  5. maybin, mckelvin, spiller, hardy, and Brohm
  6. so 8 games for bell and 4-5 for meredith in last yrs offense, with all those bums surrounding them is enough tape? No, I don't think so, also, you keep saying these guys aren't talented, I don't buy that for a second,. Green yes, but not untalented. so, you don't like who we have, question, who did you want? Unacceptable answers include, Gaither, Flozelll and Mcneill. On to another point, you continually reference modkins and edwards as being bad selections for OC/DC. Specifically Modkins B/c he hasn't been an OC before. First of all, everybody has to start somewhere, and this is a good way to start, think of him as the asst oc/RB specialist. so again, who would you have liked to see brought in? as far as my argument being weak, well, to each his own, I tend to think its more just the honest truth. I fail to see the point in cleaning house only to realize you threw away several turd covered diamonds. And I bet Chan is thinking along those lines too.
  7. I think our situation is a little different, hence the wait n see approach for the OT's, bell has barely played organized football, and was never supposed to play last year, while his athleticism is well documented his actual football intelligence is rather limited at this point. The potential is enough to keep him and take a look, at least for one more year. for Meredith, he's a RT, plain and simple, he's big and strong, but not as quick as you want, and relies on his strength over technique. Obviously, something didnt work in GB (seems to be a trend) but the kid has enough skill and talent to take a flier on like we did. the question is, can he play left if we need him to, yes, but he should fit at the RT spot better. Neither of them should've played last yr, but they did, and they are probably better for it, b ut it was brutal to watch at the time. In terms of the QB's: fitz is a good backup thats all, I really think Chan has included him in the battle out of respect for his work ethic and he has no real chance to win the Job. trent has the "what if" moniker attached to him, what if he had a better line, better coaches, better wr's etc. bottom line is he's been a career loser and has never been a statistical marvel, but he has a nice skill set physically and is smart enough to play at this level so he is intriguing to chan, at least for now. whats most important about trent is that he's a "small ball" QB, he's never been too keen a stretching the field consistently either college or pros. Brohm is the wildcard, the great unknown, and the ultimate reclimation project for Chan, highly recruited, highly touted coming out of college, a winner, heisman candidate, potential top-10 pick, he flamed out greatly in GB for whatever reasons you want to believe. Aside from that, if you look at the player, you see a guy that was a winner, put up big stats, and has all the physical and mental attributes you want in an NFL QB. Its rare that a team spends such a high pick on a player only to give up on him so quick (or so it seems). what's important to remember about Brohm is that he has the superior physical skill set, and has never been shy to go deep, Kinda the anti-trent. He has the highest upside and is the only real (albeit a longshot) chance to be a longterm answer at QB. Also, i bet chan wants to see how each one adapts to his system, its no secret that we had a JV OC last year calling plays out of a C-team playbook. ALL THESE PLAYERS ARE CHEAP AND EASILY REPLACEABLE, I think that is another big reason for the approach we saw this year, trent and brohm are FA/RFA after this year so if they both suck they can both be cut, no problems there. Same goes for Meredith and Bell, if neither one turns out to be starting material, they can be buried on the bench or released without threat of a major cap hit.
  8. let me start with saying I'm not on either side...ok here goes, 1: whaling is done in a "santuary" where they are not supposed to be whaling 2: the vast majority of whale meat and dolphin meat is very high in mercury and a few other dangerous elements 3: whale and dolphin meat is, for the most part, consumed by the people who are fishing it, therefore they are poisoning their own people ( think about how drug dealers pollute their neighborhoods) 4: due to maritime/international law, the japanese whalers slip thru the "research" loophole, which basically states that any leftover whale not used for research can be sold to market. However, as the footage shows, when they bring a whale aboard it looks more like a chef breaking down a chicken than it does research. 5: the japanese whalers often kill endangered whales, they hunt several diff't types of whales, and often kill the endangered ones. So, whats the solution.... 1: Maybe the parents of the retarded jap children should do the research and figure out that the whale meat they ate caused the retardation, I know if my meat was labeled "my cause retardation in future offspring" i wouldn't buy it. 2: close the loophole, the sea-sheperds, and anyone else who feels this is an important issue, should be pushing to change the laws so that the "research" is "no-kill" research. also, there is no "alotted" # of whales, its a self imposed limit the japs place on themselves, as of today there are 3 nations that actively whale, its a dying enterprise, and produces very little of value. whales give more to the ecosystem alive than they do dead, they control giant squid population among other useful things. Normally, I don't side with the hippies, but the more I look into this I can't help but lean towards the Sea-Sheperds, although I disagree with their tactics. info for either side can be found at: jap whaling site hippie propaganda
  9. Championship!!
  10. on the other hand, all the proceeds from Big Bens Rape-O's goes into a private account the Ben uses for buying GHB, running up Bar Tabs in small college towns, and paying off local police/club owners. Big Bens Cereal
  11. bell, meredith, wang, wood, calloway I have to think that calloway was taken with the idea that wood would be moved to the pivot at some point. Meredith is suited for the RT position, which I think he will get at some point this year, which leaves an improving and more experienced bell to man the LT with wang backing him up. Admittedly, bell is the biggest question mark IMO. but if he can do it, I think with the line up of bell/levitre/wood/calloway/meredith, we have the makings of a very good OL.
  12. spiller stats Over 3500 yds rushing indicates otherwise
  13. yes, they will learn the lesson that if only they threaten you with speed you will automatically give up a 15 yd penalty and a 1st down...Excellent strategy its not that simple
  14. I'm a guy, not gay, and I'm not afraid to say that Buffy was one of my favorite shows, the writing was great, and it was a good mix of sci-fi, horror-comedy-fantasy etc. the story arc was fun, engaging, and didnt alienate the viewers from year to year, it never got lost in itself, or self righteous like other shows. If you could get past the silly basis of the show, it was actually quite good, and in fact, most could see that the "big bad" in every season, and many monsters throughout each season, was usually a metaphor for an everyday persons problems. Clever writing, good characters, and storys= good show. just like the shield, which got dismissed as a dirty cop show by many, or Rescue Me too, which is a great show.
  15. ok, thats all just a bunch of stereotypes, and while some of it may be true for a few WRs, the one on our team are hardly the "Flashy" type. Bottom line is if you aim to "intimidate" speed players with personal fouls, you still give up 15 yds every time, so do it, please by all means, rack up those penalties all the way to your own goalline. This old school neanderthal approach to football may have worked for the steel curtain steelers, or the purple people eater vikings, but in todays NFL, with the emphasis on helmet to helmet, horsecollar tackles, etc, it wont work. If anything that approach indicates you are scared of getting burnt by the big play, its more of a cowards tactic thatn a viable gameplan.
  16. lets #2 pass D/ #31 run D last year---switch to 3-4???/ I'll say #3-4 pass D, #16-18 run D=top 15 total Defense
  17. can you provide write-ups on stanzi and enderle please, thank you
  18. that'll be 1st downs all the way to the endzone "coach". penalties kill
  19. Yeah, lots of coaches have used he same model as Gailey, basically he's grooming Modkins, Modkins is in the installation process, its just chan calling the plays. Modkins is the RB coach also, i think, so he'll be continuing to do that in addition to learning how to be an OC. Make no mistake he is the OC, he's the guy in meeting installing this offense, but chan is right there with him, helping, teaching. There other part to this plan is that it eliminates the possibility of a mutiny b/t coaches, modkins has no illusions that this is "his" offense, cause its not. By putting a young guy in place chan has assured himself a stable staff that he can mold. At some point, everybody needs to get an opportunity, this is that opportunity for modkins, he gets to learn from a very good offensive coach, and down the road, if things work out, he will either get full control of the offense, or move on, either way its good for modkins. the short answer to your question is no, Chan's "plate" is not too full.
  20. ellis is very much like maybin, he's better suited at OLb NOT DE, so maybe he gets a stay of execution, but mccargo should be booted on day one of camp, no questions asked.
  21. rice is smaller and much thicker than spiller, marshawn lynch is more like rice than spiller.
  22. i think he's a great person from what ive read, and i think he looks like a prototype 5 technique d-end that should be a good player for us. I have high hopes for the young man, and wish him nothing but the best.
  23. I thought Vic Mackey deserved to be higher than 66, he was a great character on "The Shield".
  24. My thing is that if they object to it so much then push to change the laws, but going down there like vigilanties is just retarded. Plus, the vast majority of that whale meat is contaminated, i cant remember exactly what it is, but basically, these jap fisherman sell it to jap markets, the meat is contaminated and over time the ppl that eat it have retarded kids, so at worst, if they cant stop whaling, that means there will be more retarded Japs, which is a good thing. Also, in terms of the sea sheperds, I found it funny that bethune was the only one smart enough to bring a tater cannon. I found myself wondering why capt watson didnt invest in air cannons to launch the smelly butter in plastic capsules, instead of relying on limp wristed hippie activists that probably have never thrown anything in their lives, just a thought.
  25. Thats cause Buffy was an awesome show
