  1. gailey did well in his stint with miami as an OC, and did have a winning record at GT, he also improved the chiefs offense statistically before the egomaniac Haley came in and took control.
  2. Smerlas has a bit of revisionist history goin on here. Belechick was ran out of cleveland after a largely unsuccessful stint as the head coach for the browns, after that he wound up in NE and the rest is history. Chan has had one shot as a NFL HC in which he made the playoffs both years, this is now his 2nd shot (as we all know). Point being, Billy B wasnt a "great" hire when he came to NE, time will tell if Chan can follow the trend.
  3. thanks for the info, love the good news about carrington and stroud, those 2 should go a long way towards helping us shore up the run D both this yr and in the future, very good news. also glad to hear the good news on maybin and meredith. I read a report from buffalorumblings that said chris ellis has done well so far also. Did you notice that as well?
  4. Thanks Mike, I've also read reports that troup and carrington have shown very well, if you noticed anything today or in future practices it would be great to hear.
  5. Great report, thanks for the info A couple things I noticed: virtually no mention of lee evans, and a lots of short passes, so I was wondering, was this by design or a bunch of check down plays? Sounds like fitz and brohm arent doing so well, it is early but that report doesnt sound good for either one.
  6. I'm starting to get that feeling also, unfortunately
  7. Its a figure of speech for christs sake. Nix knows what he is doing and in his expert GM opinion, spiller was a better option than the RIGHT TACKLE bulaga, or eventual 2nd rd pick clausen, or the questionable work ethic that is anthony davis.
  8. well schefters tweet said "hunch" so their info is far from concrete, as previously stated the basic parameters should be in the 20 mil guaranteed 30-33 mil max range for 5 yrs, however, given spillers versatility i bet the hangups are in the incentive clauses.
  9. if they go to a slotted system then there is No way the NFLPA will agree to 7 yr rookie contract, if anything the deals will drop to 4 yr deals across the board, its only fair.
  10. I could do without nicknames period, especially from berman. Hopefully he just sticks to lightning, which has been his nickname all thru college.
  11. and yet, some ppl here want us to be bad enough to be in a position to shell out this kind of money next year, unbelievable.
  12. Nice stats on johnson, and his 122 ints, question, for what team did johnson spend the most time? answer the minnesota vikings---as a backup. He was never considered a franchise level player, while he did have a very nice career, i challenge you to find any reputable source that claims brad johnson was ever a franchise player. in terms of the DL, dwan edwards has indeed played DE before, troup should be a great fir at NT and while stroud may be ill fitted for DE, carrington is a prototype 3-4 DE.
  13. our DL and interior OL are just fine, you'll see that throughout the course of the season. keep in mind that we either acquired 3 players that are veterans in the 3-4 defense then drafted 4 more players fit to the 3-4, defensively our line is set.
  14. look, you think they should have waited, but for what? the guy they wanted was there, 3 picks later SD took the 2nd best RB, what does that tell you about the likelihood of Spiller lasting much longer. I understand the sentiment and thinking that they shouldve waited, but when your guy is right there in front of you, why wait? you dont, it was their pick, they made it, we should all move on, because there is no point in playing the what if game right now.
  15. the ravens had ogden, and not much else to speak of name wise the bucs had a good line, including one cornell green, but they def had more names on that line. Both those teams won with defense more than anything else, the ravens utilized a POWER RUNNING GAME, to key their offense and open up the downfield passing game. the bucs had been built by dungy, defense was their game, gruden helped with his offense.
  16. bucs won in 2002 boss, and brad johnson was never mistaken as a franchise qb, neither was dilfer for that matter. as for MPL: the ravens had ogden, and no other names to speak of, the bucs had a decent line INCLUDING CORNELL GREEN.
  17. except that the percieved need at OT, was not a need in their opinion, and neither was QB, at least not any available this year. You may like the idea of trading back, but if nix didnt like the players available he wasnt going to pick them, even if it appeased some of the fans, and he said as much the other day. They wanted spiller, they got him, end of story.
  18. the bottom line here is that 2 guys who have forgotten more about football than we will ever know thought that spiller was a better choice than any OT available at #9.
  19. I loved pat white at WVU, but this hit may have convinced him to try pro baseball. I remember seeing it and thinking we had another kevin everett situation goin on, very scary.
  20. he's going to play pro baseball more than likely, already been drafted
  21. I dont get the problem, morenos contract from last yr plus 20%, its not that hard, that puts spiller at 5 yrs 30ism mill with 20 guaranteed, its more than davis and alualu slightly less than mcclain. get it done
  22. he'll sign a 5 yr 30 mil contract with about 20 in guarantees within the next 2 days.
  23. This would've never happened under Jaurons watchful eye, pfttt...pads in training camp, what's Chan thinking
  24. I forget, what team traded up to the 10 spot after we picked.....anybody, anybody, thats right NOBODY DID, this whole hypothetical argument about trading back requires a trade partner, which apparently didnt exist until denver came back to get tebow. Trading back wasnt an option, Nix didnt like any of the qb's clearly, and didnt feel any of the remaining ot's were worthy of the 9 spot. you may be in love with the idea that Nix is stupid because he didnt make a deal with your imaginary team to trade back, but guess what, that not reality, the reality is that nobody was willing to make the jump, and we didnt want to move in the first place, we took the most explosive/versatile playmaker in the draft and still somehow you dislike the pick, get over it, I promise you wont hate the pick when he's helping us win games.
