Are sports’ drafts fair to the players?
CountDorkula replied to Tipster19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You said that the NFL would die without the draft. its proven that leagues can function without it. All of Europe does it. But that would mean the death of College football. -

Because they have no other option. They cant just say, no thank you. I'm going to forego the draft, and sign as a Free Agent. That option does not exist. -

This is an entirely different argument. I also have a choice to do something else, and most of the time the choice is not there, in college these top players are treated like Pawns. They dont receive proper education or traning. they are getting Colleges crazy money and being used as an income machines. Again in a "Normal business" if your business is moving from say Buffalo to Florida, you have a choice to get a different job in that industry, or you can move with them. While you guys keep brining it up, so I want to see what is considered fair and what is not. What is the "Money threshold" where being drafted is no longer a luxury because "They make millions so it doesnt matter" Which is your argument. Imagine what it feels like arguing with a bunch of old guys who yell at clouds and think just because someone suggests something its called "Cancel culture"...... -

How much money you make doesn't matter. Stop focusing on that. How about MLB players who make 60K on minor league contract. Is it fair to them since they make "Regular people money" -

What i get from TBD. Apparently if you make money it means you shouldn't have a choice in your life. Just do what your told and be a good little boy. Yes You do. I mean, They are choosing to take that job, they don't have to. Key word, CHOOSING. -
The only people who want to keep the tailgating tradition as is are the fans. The Bills and the NFL want no part of it. It makes them no money and does nothing for "The NFL image" I understand it from the NFL point of view. When someone inevitably breaks their neck or back, the NFL and the Bills are going to come in hard.

I could see running option where Mitch takes a snaps, RPO to Allen. And then Allen has RPO to DIggs. They wont know what hit them.
-
Years? You mean one year of high dead cap and then it was done. The salary cap is going to be 260 million in three-five years. Stop worrying.
-
You may be right. Josh is going to have Mitch Trubysky breathing down his neck. He knows he cant slip up now. If he does he could be riding pine.

What if i told you the Patriots are really bad at drafting and have been for a long time. Seattle will be back in the Playoffs and be a contender as long as they have Russ. The Saints were 112 million over the cap. They were over the Cap when the signed Jarius Byrd. teams do it all the time. The Bills could free up 30 Million in the blink of an eye. the Cap is a thing, but anyone who is afraid of it is silly, IMO.
-
NO the only reason this is a topic currently is because of a global pandemic. Next Year when the cap goes to nearly 200mil nobody blinks an eye.
-
Or they are trading up for a Rookie QB and loading that offesne with talent. Anone not concerned with this is being naieve.
-
I keep seeing this, I dont think Spotrac took into account the massive pandemic that just hit the NFL. You are going to see a lot of deals that are wow! mainly because teams have little cap space this year. most deals are going to be heavily backloaded so that cap hit is minimal this year and skyrockets in the final years. Banking on cap going up 10-15 per year the next few years.

Buffalo Tournament club has all the right pieces to be a great course. Every time I play there though it is in such bad shape. Im talking weeds a foot high in the fairway type rough shape. But they just built that crazy large new clubhouse. I don't get it.

Harbor center will be sold Next IMO. based on Kims statement that they always wanted to have local businesses run these things. No inside knowledge. Just a gut feeling.

"First Round Picks are Over-rated": Discuss
CountDorkula replied to Hapless Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
1st round picks are severely overrated, especially by fans. Remember how many people were pissed around here the Bills gave up a 1st for Diggs. Id trade a first round pick for a proven talent 100 times out of 99. There are sooo many "Cant miss" prospects that miss. Unless you need a QB having a first round pick is meaningless to me at least. -
I'm heartbroken. Words of comfort?

Bills -2.5 favorites vs ravens
CountDorkula replied to BillsMafi$'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Any weather that makes Buffalo passing attack more difficult is an advantage to the Ravens. The Ravens are also a cold weather team, its not like they are a Florida team. They play in cold in Baltimore. -

Calling for Snow and Wind. If that is the case, that favors the Ravens. -
Their kicker missed 3 FGs I think and l late PI call helped the Bills win. This is not the same Bills team, another game like that and the Bills are in trouble.
-
What i find interesting is that on a Colts message board they are talking about how they want a bad weather game so it neutralizes the Bills offense. THE BILLS DO NOT GET AVANTAGE IN BAD WEATHER GAMES. From the Colts Board: Crazily, we want a blizzard.... Give me a cold and snowy/wet game and I like our chances at a competitive nail biter 24 - 21 Colts. Decent/fine weather and I think we get embarrassed 41 - 17 Colts fans are hoping for bad weahter, that should tell you all you need to know about the perceived Bills "advantage" if the weather sucks.

Meh if a better one came along id drop either. Not to get to far ahead of myself but if they are able to get their hands on Travis Etienne and Najee Harris in the next draft they should.
