McNabb's only good when he has time. Story of his career.
-
Iagree I hope he/we pass. his gas tank is empty! He was non-existent for a bunch of games last year. Why would parcells get rid of him? Miami was hurting for LB's
There are a lot of bad feelings there, it wasn't necessarily a decision based on ability. This guy could be the difference between a strong defense and a sorry one. Who's going to play LOLB, Maybin?
-
I wouldn't go higher than a 4th for Vick, if that. He could definitely bring a spark and give us more wins in the short term, but good teams can shut down a scrambler and make him pass, which Vick hasn't shown he can do consistently.
-
So 12 teams made the playoffs, 10 of the QB's are perrenial Pro Bowlers and the best in the NFL and you pick the QB who is a rookie. How about this, there is a 90+% chance that if you have a great QB, you will make the playoffs way more than you don't.
How many of those perrenial pro bowlers play behind sorry O-lines?
-
Even great QBs fold under pressure. Brady folded when the Giants D assaulted him the SB. Manning has looked less than spectacular under pressure, and McNabb looks great until he has an agressive D in his face. Brees wasn't that great his first three years playing behind a subpar line in SD either.
-
Mitchell's injury could hurt his ability to provide the strength to stuff the run in the middle. LB in general is a position where we have a fair amount of talent, but none of it seems to fit our scheme.
-
Let's get this straight, no one is trading for McCargo, Parrish or Kelsay. They all suck and they are all way overpaid. No one is trading for Schobel either. Despite a good season last year he's another year older and he is also overpaid. As far a Lil DOnte goes, if we could use him to get McNabb, I would be all for it, if not , keep him becase he is a valuable backup.
I agree w/ the bit on McCargo, Parrish, and Kelsay. Shobel is one of the better pass rushers in the league. He's still got a couple of good years left and might consider extending his career if it meant a possible super bowl run w/ a team like the Eagles or Saints.

People seem to forget that Lynch doesn't even turn 24 until mid-April. They also seem to forget that he's been in the league 3 years and has two 1,000 yd seasons.
1000 yards for a feature back isn't but so amazing a feat. I'd trade Lynch for a 5th rounder and a stick of gum.

Playing w/ Porter might push Maybin to grow some hair on his sack.
-
That would take care of our greatest need and let us use our 1st pick to take the best DT or QB available.
-
He was not worth the money last year
He was easily our most productive receiver last year. How was he not worth a 6.5 mil 1 yr deal? For a WR1 that's not a bad deal.
-
Don't expect the SB this year but with a few good moves, a decent draft, and proper utilization of what we have on D the team might just be watchable this year.
This offense wouldn't exactly rival the "Greatest Show on Turf" but could provide some consistency and put some points on the board.
QB: Edwards/Brohm/mid round rookie (with time to throw and practice one of these guys should be at least serviceable)
RB: Fred Jackson
TE: Nelson/Shouman
WR1: Evans
WR2: Hardy
WR3: Johnson/Parrish
A veteran WR would be really helpful to make this scenario work if Hardy and/or Johnson don't pan out.
LT: Rookie (Preferably our 1st rd pick)
LG: Levitre
C: Wood (if healthy)
RG: Incognito
RT: Bell/Meredith/Rookie
Simmons and Hangartner should give us some depth.
The defense could be something special
RE: Kyle Williams
NT: 2nd Rd Rookie or vet like Williams/Rogers
LE: Stroud
That front 3 would eat up some blockers.
ROLB: Schoebel
RILB: Mitchell
LILB: Poz
LOLB: Joey Porter/Maybin
Admittedly some ?s on the LBs but they could definitely put some pressure on opposing QBs. Should use some later picks to shore up depth.
CB: Mcgee
CB: Mckelvin
FS: Byrd
SS: Wilson
Solid secondary with a ton of depth.

Fred Jackson and Lee Evans are formidable weapons. With a line to open up holes and buy some time for routes to develop we could be good a lot faster than last season would indicate.
-
Why the constant knocks on Ellison? He's never going to be in a pro-bowl, but for a guy with limited physical abilities he's outplayed anyone else we've had at his position, and he's not exactly breaking the bank. Sure I'd like an upgrade, but if nothing else he adds depth to a team that can't seem to ever stay healthy.
-
Guys a freelancer from a losing team.
So was Leigh Bodden
-
No, I don't want to trade for him he is what 31 now? Plus there is a reason they want to move him the back-up played a lot better than he did, plus they traded their starting DE away they will just move Rogers over to DE imo.
Only the finest for us. I'll take nothing short of Wilfork w/ Dan Williams and Cody competing to be his backup.
-
What makes this guy a "Beast"? I've seen him get stood up at the line of scrimmage way too many times to dote on him. He's a pretty good back with a lot of baggage, a thug mentality, and he's one slip away from a long suspension. If we could get some value for him we should get it while the gettings good.
-
I always get a sick when I hear of this as if any of these famous rich ass !@#$ers have to force anyone.
I'm guessing you're a real ladies man.
-
The lions are bringing in young DTs. He's not a cast off, he's just old. I'm not suggesting we plan the franchise around him. He could add depth. I know a lot of you think there are potential pro bowlers hiding around every corner but sometimes you take what you get.
-
Didn't you hear, we're getting a backup OL from KC. We'll be fine.
-
At 37 he can only bring so much to the table, but he is 345lb of humanity to platoon or add depth at NT and he wouldn't exactly break the bank.
-
If we focus on stacking the lines this year then fill in the skill positions next year we could be a force for years to come.
-
If he keeps putting up these topics and argues a bit those post numbers will rise. You guys put too much stock in the number of post their are guys on this board with monster numbers that really don't know what they are talking about.
+1
Diarrhea of the mouth does not make one sensible.

Um the last 10 years we have went out and spent a TON on Free agency...and have sucked....as have the Redskins. DRAFTING is the wayt to go
Other than Dockery and Walker to whom would you be referring. And don't say T.O., he played one yr and was our most productive receiver.

At no point last year were Incognito and Wood on the field at the same time. At no time did Wood play C. At no time did we have a quality LT.
Not to mention that Lynch was eating into Jackson's carries for half the season.
