I feel no curiosity I see the path ahead of me In a minute I'll be free And we'll be splashing in the sea We hear a tiny cry As the ship goes sliding by Free

I think everyone should have a fire pit in their back yard. I'm sitting around a fire with the family right now on a cool night with a clear sky and the big bright moon shining down through the trees. It's like camping except I don't have to sleep in a tent and when I want a crisp cold German beer the kitchen is only 100 feet away. It really is amazing.

Baby, it's you on my mind, your love is so rare Being with you is a feeling I just can't compare And if I can't hold you in my arms It just wouldn't be fair 'Cause precious and few are the moments we two can share

NPCs Make Fallout 76 Feel More Alive.
Rob's House replied to SlimShady'sSpaceForce's topic in Off the Wall Archives
I played Fallout 3 on XBOX 360, and I loved the concept, but the character control was so abysmal I gave up on it after a few days. If it had GTA or Halo controls it would be amazing, but combat was just too clunky and awkward. Has it improved in that department? -

Diggs vs the WR field in the draft
Rob's House replied to John from Riverside's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That Diggs himself wasn't taken until the 5th round illustrates the fact that we really don't know who will or won't be better than him. Antonio Brown was drafted in the 6th round. Devante Adams in the 4th. Chris Godwin, Keenan Allen, T.Y. Hilton, and Kenny Golladay went in the 3rd. Michael Tomas, Juju Smith-Schuster, Tyler Boyd, and Jarvis Landry in the 2nd. Hell, Adam Thielen wasn't even drafted. The point is that if it was easy to determine how good these guys would be none of them would have made it out of the first round. On the other side, Tayvon Austin was a top 10 pick, and went 19 slots ahead of DeAndre Hopkins. As others have said, the value in Diggs isn't that he's necessarily better than whoever we could have drafted, or even that he's better right now, but simply in the fact that you know what you're getting rather than rolling the dice for a bigger score. Even a sure thing prospect isn't always a sure thing. Sometimes it's Sammy Watkins. -
The Next Pandemic: SARS-CoV-2/COVID-19

I agree completely. I'm not suggesting that particular opinion piece is necessarily wrong, just making a statement about WaPo, its mission, and credibility in general. I'm actually surprised they printed it given the fact that it places the blame on China, and like you said, the truth is probably worse. -

WaPo is the PR/propaganda wing of the Amazon/Bezos empire. Nothing less, nothing more. -

The Next Pandemic: SARS-CoV-2/COVID-19
Rob's House replied to Hedge's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Okay, so you're saying that we could have been more prepared, and perhaps that's true, but the question was what should have been done wrt testing. -

I'm not sure how that's responsive to the question. You've declared unequivocally and repeatedly that the response was not handled properly wrt testing. Maybe you're right, maybe not, but a conclusory statement without support isn't very persuasive. Rather than criticize you, or even argue with you, I simply asked you how you thought it should have been handled. I asked you that simple open-ended question 3 times and this is the only response you've offered. It's almost as if you have no idea what the available options were, but are supremely confident that your conclusion, that happens to coincide with your political predisposition, is right. If you're not able to support your position, why do you hold that belief? And do you think holding such a belief is rational? -

“Old” movies to watch with kids
Rob's House replied to Johnny Hammersticks's topic in Off the Wall Archives
No way man. When I was 12 there was nothing better than that cool tough guy caricature that calmly and effortlessly took out large groups of goons who each conveniently waited their turn to telegraph wild haymakers. It wasn't until I watched it as an adult that it became the silly masturbatory fantasy of another grown man. Once the magic is gone it never comes back. -

“Old” movies to watch with kids
Rob's House replied to Johnny Hammersticks's topic in Off the Wall Archives
The problem with watching your childhood favorites with your kids is realizing that half the movies you loved growing up and remember fondly were really just shite. That said, I'm still going to watch all the Steven Seagal movies with my son. Such are the sacrifices we make for children. -

I try not to think about what might have been, cuz that was then, and we have taken different roads. We can't go back again. There's no use giving in. And there's no way to know what might have been. -

Just fkn around w/ the ranking bit. The part I'm curious about is specifically what we could have done differently, because I really don't know. It sounds easy to say just push production, but I don't know to what extent that's even possible. Even throwing everything into it, what facilities exist that can pump these out, what's the maximum capacity, and how quickly can we increase production? I doubt it's as simple as the President telling his people to get it done, but I don't really know. JRober has all the answers, but for some reason he's holding out on us. -

What test do you think we should have used? Also, do you know how we should have mass produced them? And sorry for asking so many questions, but what is this economic might you speak of? The only thing we lead the world in is the cost of healthcare. -
