I stand by that statement. What's your point? -

Who needs me when we have such fair-minded woke people such as yourself to tell us what the thoughts, intentions, and experience of others really mean? -

I'd love to hear a rational and coherent explanation of how the post you quoted is racist. I know that piling on a kid who's trying to start his career makes you feel better about yourself, but other than highly moralistic rhetoric, what do you have to support your defamatory comments? I must say I grow tired of self-righteous people attempting to destroy others with all the mercy of John Kreese for the slightest of transgressions while piously declaring their own moral superiority. I'm equally tired of being told I must accept that for which I do not see evidence, and must not speak out against the lynch mob. The fact that we're having this discussion about this player for the joke in question is the perfect example of why this movement, allowed to go unchecked, is a problem. When you don't have enough real offenders to go after the threshold for excommunication becomes very low. -
I saw a meme that said if you were into Rage Against the Machine and you weren't for the protest you were a poser. I thought it was ironic, but this guy explains it better:

What a coincidence, yours was deleted from mine too. I know I'll never know how it must feel for a black man in 21st century America to find out that a 5th round rookie made a lame joke about rich white people having silencers, but I only had so many victim empathy slots left and I couldn't keep everyone. I know you must be going through a lot right now. I know I should care, especially in light of all those years of slavery and Jim Crow that you've had to endure vicariously through the people that actually lived through those times. That can't have been easy. You seem like a principled guy, so I'm pretty sure you and your friends have never made any jokes or comments in private that could be considered racist. Even if you did I'd give you a pass because of the 400 years thing. Even I know that holding you to the same standard to which you hold others is a form of white supremacy, so you're coming into this with clean hands. Still, no matter how hard I try I just can't get worried about it. I do want to be woke though, so I promise you this. If someone does something overtly and substantially racist to you, let me know and I'll put you back on the list. I know you'd do the same for me. -
Fair enough. The mandatory racism screen every year just tickled the ***** out of me. The college requirement part got me too, but to be fair you do touch on some decent points in your list. Body cams are a good idea. I don't think there's any reason they shouldn't be standard in every metropolitan area. Occasional de-escalation training and psych evaluations are fine. I think the frequency you suggest would be overkill, but the idea itself is reasonable. Qualified immunity is a bit complicated. It varies by state, but should probably be modified wrt civil cases in most, provided the state/municipality insures the officers. Outright abolishment is going too far IMO. I don't know what you're saying in your second body cam item, and the town hall part sounds like a den mother idea, so I would scrap both of them. I do give you credit for putting some thought into this rather than just spewing vapid sanctimonious bull#### like so many others have been. I'd apologize for calling you an idiot, but with DC Tom in exile somebody had to initiate you.

??? You're an idiot.

He dipped, out of the blue, for no apparent reason (or at least none that is apparent to me). He reminded us that we were idiots, and announced his departure. He can still be found in other corners of the web that are less conducive to his talents, which go largely unappreciated there, but he's remained in exile for a good while now. If there's a back story I have yet to hear it.

In the context that it was clearly an innocuous joke. If you're the kind of person who wants to take away a kid's dreams and livelihood over that, you probably aren't in a position to be judging anyone's moral character. -
The guy just pushed him back. It was not reasonably foreseeable that he'd fall that way. If he was that fragile he should've gotten his old ass out of the way. It's funny how you dipshits make people who aren't particularly fond of cops defend them because of your dishonest bull####.

Personally, I think anyone who makes a joke insinuating white people should have exclusive privileges, even if done ironically, should not only be cut, but ostracized from society and made to live alone in the mountains as a hermit. And I don't want to hear that the absurdity of the insinuation was the punchline of the joke, or that context matters. White privilege is too serious to joke about.. -
The Next Pandemic: SARS-CoV-2/COVID-19

Does anyone else feel like we've seen the man behind the curtain but are still pretending we're talking to the wizard? -
Personally, I think avoiding Barr's investigation is what this media-crafted outrage is really all about. I know it sounds like a "conspiracy theory" but it's far less outlandish than accepting this series of events at face value. They have to get President Trump out of office. They know incumbents rarely lose when times are good so their goal is to create maximum upheaval in the run up to the election. They don't hate President Trump because of his policies, personality, alleged bigotry, or propensity for getting his hands on some pu$$y. They're terrified of what will be exposed if they can't shut down the investigations. That's been the situation from day one. That's what Russian collusion and the impeachment was all about. They pushed the Covid shut downs as far as they could in an effort to crush both the economy and spirit of the people. Any doubts about their sincerity were confirmed the second mass "protests" broke out and all the extreme insistence on wrapping ourselves in bubble tape and hiding in seclusion instantly went out the window. Eventually though, the public turned on them. Liberalism is about signaling a willingness to sacrifice for the well-being of others, not actually doing it. When even their own disciples grew tired of confinement and began to defy their lockdown orders, the plan fell apart. Society started to reopen, the market rebounded, and a return to normality was on the horizon. Something had to be done. Enter the video of the "jogger" getting shot. People are killed on video everyday. In a country of nearly 350 million people, most of whom have smart phones, it isn't rare, and news agencies regularly have access to such footage. Video of a black "jogger" getting shot by white guys wasn't perfect (it would have been better if he wasn't beating the ***** out of the guy who shot him) but it was good enough. The white guys did roll up on him with guns drawn, and with a little massaging of the narrative they could, and did, turn it into another Trayvon Martin. The George Floyd tape was like a gift from God. The only thing that could have made it better would have been if afterward the cop had stood up and unloaded his sidearm into Floyd's unconscious body. (If I ever run for office I suspect those last two sentences will be reported in isolation). They were already working the "hunted black man" narrative and now they've got video of a black man being killed by an actual cop with no reasonable justification. There was more wood in CNN headquarters that day than at 84 Lumber. Since then the media's been playing full court press doing everything in its power to create as much division and destruction as possible. Every left-wing commentator excused, endorsed, and even encouraged violent insurrection across the country. Inevitably they would, and did, blame this on President Trump. The fact that it was done by a cop employed by a Democrat city with a Democrat Mayor, and a Democrat sheriff in a Democrat state with a Democrat legislature, and a Democrat governor is of no consequence. Nor is the fact that all the previous high profile cases they cite occurred during the Obama administration. As with literally everything else, whatever Trump did would be, and was, reported as not only the wrong thing, but the worst thing. More importantly, they could further shred the fabric of society knowing the more tension, hopelessness, and misery they cause, the more likely it is that people will vote for "change." For the true believers (i.e. useful idiots) and all the other dupes who got sucked in by emotional manipulation and/or peer pressure, this is ostensibly about protecting their black virtue pets from the nebulous, undefined, and unquantified threat of oppression and murder at the hands of the monolithic national police force. For those pulling the strings, such concerns aren't so much as an afterthought. For them the "oppressed minority" is a red herring and the SJW a pawn. Their goal is regaining power. Everything else is acceptable collateral damage. One may wonder why they would go to such extreme measures all for the sake of electing Sleepy Joe Biden. Of course they want a Democrat in the Whitehouse. After all, having a Republican President is like having a Jewish Pope. But no policy issue really explains it. For whatever one thinks of his personality, President Trump's policy decisions have been relatively moderate for the most part, and Joe's uninspiring to all but the passionately moderate Democrat.. Perhaps it's all about the Supreme Court and that's all there is to it. But they've fought like cornered rats from day one, and it wouldn't surprise me in the least if it has everything to do with concealing the nefarious acts of the previous administration.

Get your paperwork in order or the police have carte blanche to breakup your peaceful protest? That doesn't sound like protecting or serving. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I made a simple point that just because the police can use force in dispersing crowds (in this instance protests we're referring to as generally all DC protests) doesn't mean that's the best course of action. And for the rest of the day I have responded to mostly comments that I have not made and the general aspersions as to why I have been silent in this thread on every other pertinent matter (because I don't spend as much time as I used to in this time suck). This call out just cements the fact that no one bothered to read or comprehend my initial comment. What bearing does your specific situation have on my point that I would consider retracting? That's been my FB experience for the past few days. That's what I get for trying to engage with lawyers I guess.
-
If I didn't have kids I'd be enjoying this right now because these self-righteous @ssholes deserve the world they're creating. I'm utterly shocked at the responses I'm getting from people. It's not enough to accept the "peaceful protesters," you have to support the criminals too. Suggesting that violence against, and destruction of the property and livelihoods of innocent people isn't the best way to go about things is way out of bounds. And God forbid you make such a suggestion without virtue signalling about your moral outrage over police brutality. I explained to one guy that I would be happy to respond to those defending or justifying police violence against innocents but I couldn't find any in my feed. He was not amused.
-
Are you suggesting that we cannot live freely without destroying the property of innocent people who have nothing to do with the situation?
-
I have very serious reservations about deploying the U.S. military on the citizenry at any time for any reason, but if we accept that it is justified under certain circumstances (which I'm not necessarily conceding) it seems that protecting the citizenry against an angry violent mob intent on terrorizing the public indefinitely, where the local police can't or won't handle the task, is one of the rare instances where it would make sense.
