he’s a ferocious competitor but also not particularly mature… that he’s dug himself in deep over something dumb and doesn’t have an easy path to save face is totally believable, whether it’s conscious on his part or not. the art will be giving him an off ramp. I’m not sure McD or Josh made particularly great comments if that’s an accurate assessment but we will see.

and odds are that will make no difference as they have connected thousands upon thousands of times including practice is it possible they find some oddball thing that situationally comes into play on a big throw late in the season? Sure, it’s possible. Or maybe diggs avoided tearing his acl today. The net positive is so slim on the actual X’s and O’s

I would assume it’s very rare not to talk to the player. Just because it fits your plans doesn’t mean it fits theirs long term. Making 7 figure (occasionally 8 figure) decisions is something you chat about. if nothing else a chance to say “we see you as a cornerstone, thank you, your cash is headed your way early”

at some point fans will need to buy that for a lot of positions missing 2-3 games a year is essentially full availability. Outside of 1 season hes remained pretty well available for a back -

Yea, we are paying him as what, the 55th best receiver? And like half of a guy like MVS? in replying to someone acting like he was a huge target of beane based on the contract that’s essentially a WR3 deal for 1 year with what amounts to a cheaper second year option… if he tanks it’s essentially very low risk. And it’s a price tag that takes little to out play the price at such a well paid position. I’m not saying I love the guy or contract but in the grand scheme… it’s much more a scratch off ticket move than paying a huge premium to secure your future confidently if he’s the same athlete but smarter one may argue he plays faster -

Unless you think beane has a magic crystal ball it was a low dollar, low risk, high upside role player. Not a known answer. if healthy, Davis should beat him on every metric. -

give him like two meals and he will be good still shocking he thought that was productive week to week -
Are we also letting that level headed thing slide?

well, now with Miller, Oliver, groot and Daquan hopefully he can bring a little more noise than shaq/basham/epenesa

Why did Isaiah McKenzie fail as starting Slot WR?

that’s not always how those play out. If crowder was the reliable 8 yard catch guy he could be the lower paid but higher reps player compared to an explosive play gadget guy. That said, I think it was a case of hoping you throw 2 darts and one lands. -
as badol points out, how do you feel about the snap count comparison to those guys

post of the thread. I hope the he plays up to it, but it’s a pretty hefty pay day for the role he plays, and no promise he suddenly stays healthy. if I could put out that kind of outlay anywhere I want, it’s not the spot I’d go with.

it’s weird that a 4.55 forty guy with lower body issues and an underdeveloped short/medium game is inconsistent. honestly, the strangest part is he so often hits deep. he has to figure out the possession piece of the game if he’s going to be successful. Good hands and move the chains is how a 4.55 guy earns his weekly check, the deep ball is the icing.
