  1. why are the ravens doing it for less than a 4(?) ish as a comp pick received after holding good depth for an affordable price all year
  2. Older, taken a beating and already showed signs of a real slow down at 8 ypc for a season. if you need 1 play from your 6th WR he wouldn’t be the worst option possible but anything sustaining an offense week the week would be bad
  3. if you are going to argue that guys with expiring contracts but are good so their teams would like to keep them are not free agents, then I will presume you will also argue that guys that are cut candidates aren’t free agents either and I can’t use guys that were free agents signed this year as an example of quality of players available which yes, would definitely limit the specific names I could point to as examples of a bridge contract.
  4. Know who else he’d love? Mike evans plus a highly drafted rookie, plus cap space leftover.
  5. I was using him as an example. Insert vet receiver cut next year in his place for the real world execution. Talking 20m now and a fast rising number at that
  6. that doesn’t mean he had a successful season that indicates that the last two years were a fluke a) I don’t think we have any indication of his finances b) plenty of guys don’t know when to hang it up
  7. the league found kirk to be worth a massive contract. It should tell you how wide the gap is between Isabella and even an average starting WR
  8. played in 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022 this, 2023, is the 5th season in the league Hes among the senior members of our receiving squad, minus diggs. WRs don’t get forever as there are near endless 5’10-6’2 guys that can run fast and catch well. By the time you are off the rookie contract, which he played 3.5 out of 4 years of with the cardinals, you are either in the league or out of it for the most part… and right now he’s trying to fight back in as WR7-8 signed during camp at vet minimum with zero signing bonus or guarantees the cardinals didn’t even hold him til the end of the year as there was no faith he’d be a qualifying signing for a comp pick. Which was correct.
  9. I’d venture the time to throw is him scrambling and creating instead of having creative play design and decisive targets to use ala mahomes. hopefully an extra red zone target in Kincaid, and Dorsey having a year to work on new packages helps. And he had that bad run after no interceptions in the red zone forever to start his career. Had to get him a little jittery down there last year. plus injury effecting him both running and passing potentially hopefully this improves in 23-24
  10. I’d say it lands as me being curious to watch but not yet super stressed about I don’t mind if he isn’t friendly with teammates but I’m also in favor of him not concussing them or causing strife if we need him to contribute as badly as we do this will be his 5th year
  11. unfortunately that would likely be a bit of praise to him but also acknowledgment that something has gone wrong and he’s the best way to set the floor- not that he’d be exceptional. id love for him to prove that wrong and play better than we even hoped those ahead of him had as expectations and actually raise the ceiling instead of setting a floor though.
  12. I came really close to including him as the last one on my list. I won’t push back on him being the last option. Elite tools, premiere position and not yet a star
  13. yea, it’s got to be in ranked order: cook rousseau Davis(not holding breathe) Either tight end if calling someone a breakout star I can’t say anyone else is really in the running. Definitely other guys could outperform expectations but stardom is very unlikely even in best cases for many mentioned in the thread.
  14. middle of the road decent starter as in QB14-18 range or like fringe top 10 guy? cause I could buy the lower being his likely upside and that’s a guy you try to replace. I’ll also say the comment was specifically referencing in Greggggg which I think is still a situation that would limit his upside too as that’s not a dream offensive coaching setup for him. No way gregggg was bringing elite offensive talent into the building.
  15. it’s a weird spot to put a guy. at the crossroads of a million dollar opportunity that you’ve worked years for… do you bench the kid hoping he actually changes and likely tank your own success, or just ride the ride for 18 months and cash in? at a distance it’s easy to try to save the kid. At the highest level of competition and with tiny windows with them, most accept the meat grinder. Whether it’s the mental health issue, physical health, academic accountability, etc… most programs extract what they can and move to the next guy
  16. yup. I’d much rather he steals touches from Rodgers and breece if I had to choose him vulturing opportunity from someone. Incrementally I don’t think he makes them that much better but he does eat cap space not saying he’s a bum but it’s the less impactful spot
  17. Did you not see this coming?
  18. yea, but is there any reason to believe that much like the broncos the jets won’t be able to Hackett?
  19. disclaimer: Gregg’s not good either and baker wouldn’t be their starter long term under him either
  20. he already can audible and make play calls for himself. id chalk it up as 75% giving the guys a little entertainment in the dog days of august. Calling plays in a 2 min drill will be way different than in the 3rd quarter from the sideline.
  21. exactly my takeaway, but admittedly we know little about today and surely project some of his history on him. it just seems like he’s still in a similar headspace even if not flying at the same altitude.
  22. I doubt it’s anything on that tier a little bit of fun for the guys, and a tiny bit of learning new perspective.
  23. there was similar commentary about the pick on draft night. would’ve been interesting to see what happened if he fell to the third and was a bench guy out of the gate. Based on his current status, I suspect no better but you never know if a humbling at the right moment would help.
  24. the bills have used catapult since 2013 (earliest reference I can find) so it may well be when and not if you get to see it here’s Jordan phillips in one last week: https://buffalonews.com/sports/bills/buffalo-bills-jordan-phillips-training-camp-pup-list/article_531b3264-346d-11ee-b5b1-17c2b7530770.html
  25. it was a question mark for you all the way to this week?
