  1. You need to be 4 deep and when put into action he’s played better than cb4 to have that resource as a cost controlled asset for 3 more years is valuable. And I don’t think he plummets in output. Even if the secondary is healthy he will play and with even average injuries he will see a ton of reps
  2. And yet, would you trade Josh for two pass rushers?
  3. It’s tough when you don’t have a qb. You have to go take big swings. but when push comes to shove it’s almost impossible to win it all without that guy. The dolphins got that windfall of talent and lost in the wild card round still.
  4. hard to say. In his entire HS, collegiate and nfl career combined he has fewer passes than many nfl qbs threw last year alone. He was a long shot, and it’s even more uphill from here but with lowered expectations and a slower timeline, maybe he can contribute to a team down the line. Probably not “the guy” but a career backup is good work.
  5. Ha! I just saw the thread and was catching up. That’ll teach me to not get to the end… but yea… a healthy player on IR gets released not stashed. Obviously some art to that but you don’t get to hold a guy a year for a paper cut.
  6. it screams injury settlement incoming. You can’t IR day to day injuries for the season.
  7. even just the rhythm of going through warm ups and walking onto the field isn’t the worst to get back in the habit of… right? one more step towards week 1 being routine instead of getting your game day flow back in order
  8. uh then why did ferg shave his letter into his chest? Was that for something unrelated?
  9. the real issue is the niners are probably the best spot in the league for a young qb to get high quality reps without tanking the season. I haven’t seen the guy play much, for obvious reasons, but it’s unfortunate how his shot played out. Now he will burn through 3 systems in 3 years bouncing around the league as a backup fighting to start on terrible teams, right?
  10. yea, I mean Big Ben was neither Brady nor manning but did do pretty well for himself I suppose, right?
  11. especially in a 17 game season, 10 picks don’t worry me. at that tier, it’s more about context. Having a red zone int returned as a pick 6 in a tight game would a totally different discussion than lobbying a deep ball vs the pats in the 2nd quarter or clustering 3 against a conference rivaL in General a pick basically every other game is pretty meh though
  12. counter: a big part of mccaffery is his role in the passing game. As a bell cow 300 carry down hill runner I’m not doing backflips for him.
  13. if you have a respectable qb, a run is conceding the down in many cases. You don’t take the ball away from a top ten guy if possible. Which leaves great backs with meh quarterbacks
  14. yea there could be a no tag clause
  15. Yea, might be the most obvious question thread we’ve ever seen
  16. that’s why you have to get them reps early and often. So they aren’t playing like rookies later
  17. I think you may feel more grounded in the conversation if you actually stepped back from wholly moley it must be a lot and realize that McD doesn’t need to know the 52nd guys allergy list personally. he has a position coach, they have player personnel staff, etc… his job isn’t to have totally and complete ownership over every detail at all times. But if you list it up and he is doing slightly more defensive work mid week, can he delegate more off the travel planning, video room accountability, S&C, or diets etc… to trusted folks? I bet a lot of those cultures and expectations have been built and his engagement could potentially be less than it was a few years ago. he lost the entire covid planning piece from his day to day task management surely there is some trade out of where he spends his hours mid week and minutes during the game but I think when you define what that looks like, it’s a little less extreme for a guy that’s already built the program
  18. I think you need to be much more specific on what you think the HC duties are and which you think could be neglected for this to be productive
  19. potentially an issue of holding back reps from the young guy, but with bated being used so many ways I’m not sure that convention is a concern
  20. I mentioned it a bit back and I do wonder how losing tremaine may impact him. perhaps absorbing more weight in the lower levels and middle as an aging guy could be a problem. More green space, more hits etc… there have been threads about concern about DD whenever there’s been a photo of him the last several months
  21. two schools of thought- save reps/risk for late in the season vs look sharper week 1 hopefully securing a bye week in the playoffs given that we have a very competitive game out of the gate, let’s hopefully walk out of week 1 with the inside track on the division. I’d hope Tomlinson has his team playing fast but clean in the preseason.
  22. correct. I could very easily see him as a PS guy even to keep in the system in case guys get nicked up. I won’t be shocked if he’s WR6 but WR3/4 still seems beyond unlikely
  23. We love our obviously fake news
  24. you do realize its probably not real, right?
  25. phew- lucky I don’t care if you hold on to incorrect facts and look like a goober. YOU may want to go find this information for yourself though.
