  1. he may be. I wasn’t arguing he was or wasn’t with that statement. Simply that he works a ton doesn’t mean he’s actually succeeding. The OP spent a lot of words on saying more hours means he can’t be questioned. If you want to shift the topic to measuring successes, do you think there are more than 2 other people in the league that could get more success from this group? I’d say absolutely. Which means 3rd ranked is somewhere in the passable but not elite output category.
  2. Any qb more athletic than Brady (ie nearly all) without a ring (ie nearly all) isn’t putting in the work? yea, there are a few motivations you could have and troll is probably the most generous while if it’s truly a serious discussion I feel bad about the actual underlying issues.
  3. honestly, a large volume of work does not mean he is creating the proper output
  4. as an active coach it could be a little different handing former players large sums of cash
  5. meh. I think most should reasonably take it with a grain of salt. It’s not like he’s been harping or was dumb over the top. he acknowledged he wants the guy back and to win rings with him.
  6. yup. You have to thread the needle of not being a pushover but not embarrassing anyone publicly either.
  7. Like the legion of boom, do it til it’s called and then keep doing it until they show they are willing to call it multiple times. it’s a fine line before you end up catching extra judgement calls against you because you are disliked. look how the nfl treated the saints after Sean Payton repeatedly called them out. Highest differential in the league on PI and holding calls called for vs against for several years. Just drastically out of line.
  8. but it is broke and we have to fix it- at least with regards to who is going to call plays. beyomd Milano, even a poyer or Hyde could contribute as guys that are experienced, don’t come off the field and read the whole offense anyway. MLB would be ideal but suddenly we may be cycling through several at varying levels of nfl and bills playbook experience. I think it’s at least a fair an interesting question in the offseason
  9. the third is an absolute mess for most. it’s either huge upside guys with massive red flags, good character guys that don’t actually have the skill or average dudes at below premium positions knox, singletary and Harrison is a pretty decent group in there. that he’s missing that badly in the second is a relatively big deal though. That’s a spot he should pull a few average starters and an occasional big impact player with some busts mixed in. 3rd and later is a crapshoot.
  10. I would’ve been real ok with a non mlb handling that job this year
  11. I don’t think anyone would expect him put himself up against Josh in a head to head. he sure could easily say “can’t believe he missed you stef” or “I’m team Elam” if he’s that incredibly out of touch with managing social settings though
  12. frankly, I think your practice squad guy is less someone you expect to win a game this year and more someone that you can throw to the wolves as scout team qb that impersonates upcoming qbs styles etc… if we are on the third qb, whether that guy is 65th or 72nd best in the league will matter little but he can actually help the starters get ready for games
  13. really the big question is Miller. If he’s not “that guy” the roster has gone backwards. If he’s full go 110% come December and no other catastrophic injuries I feel much better this year, pass rush will just be so huge in our defense holding things together offense will always have us as a contender with Josh here but pass rush is the gap between elite and very good for the next ten years (assuming 1-2 playmakers on the offense with Josh)
  14. As are about 45 guys on the roster
  15. maybe that’s an issue with how you consume information and not the player? he’s a day 2 pick at a super premium position in the draft. At that crossroads, he’s a good player making fair contributions.
  16. I would assume 100% of our 4th string pass rushers (behind Miller, Floyd, Rousseau) will be replaceable on a rookie deal, great in free agency, all a matter of price
  17. at this point, very likely. They could always cut him tomorrow but I’d think they are keeping him for real
  18. hear me out- the running game has been so devalued that we should double our running back presence on any given snap, instead of having an extra pure pass catcher
  19. Vets on the week 1 roster are guaranteed salary while those added later are not (unless contracted as such)
  20. well, also a few of those are laughable. kamara last year was nothing like his prime. 1k yards is not a particularly impressive season these days etc….
  21. beat out, or they were cool with not winning?
  22. I mean, getting 2-3 votes isn’t exactly dominating or a windfall of support. honestly, I don’t particularly lean on the drought when measuring him. That a team 15 years ago lost to the Steelers and should have got in but didn’t doesn’t make beane more impressive right? that said, beyond win/loss record, one might argue playoff record is much more important at the highest end once you cross some baseline win percentage overall?
  23. the Union needs preseason as a showcase for about half its members that said, I doubt teams walk off the field during the regular season short of just about a death. I don’t think this dynamic changed at all, despite the preseason games
  24. Risky thread title, sir
  25. the theory that he was an exiting contract that the bills couldn’t restrict still applies… and that they would need to sync value into re-acquiring him underscores the loss i had never really considered it but it’s an interesting twist
