  1. Whoever we sign will be in addition. It’s simply accounting for bonus money paid last year. And also if you don’t spend the money saved, you just roll over the extra cap space to cover it the following year
  2. my one “it’s all Monopoly money” signing is mike evans. I’d love it so much but know it’s unlikely. that catch radius, attitude and experience would be big.
  3. classic rock and a hard place, man….
  4. picturing jimmy listening to a classic rock ballad staring into the distance now. odds the raiders found a way to have him randomly tested?
  5. I think you’ve tipped into excusing too much and trying to create a narrative. Can guys play deeper into their career based on better sports science (both upkeep and repairs) and fewer hits? Sure. is Lamar a guy I’m pointing at while saying rivers etc… took too many big hits? Probably not the dude that’s going deep into his 40s I feel ok saying you’ll probably see a few more guys touch 40 than usual but it’s not the expectation suddenly to be playing top shelf ball then agree here. We’ve added a third full length contract as the expectation to be able to complete (or come close) but not a 4th
  6. it’s often easy to say it’s “their problem to fix” and “they aren’t doing enough” but in the same breathe those people insult the various programs, etc… that do try to help (and this isn’t singling out shredder, I don’t know him at all, just happens to be the poster you quoted) And both sides have great people that are dealing with “but I didn’t do anything wrong and I’m trying to do right why are you pointing a finger at me” it’s a big messy situation where there is no instant fix to inner city violence just like we aren’t fixing rural opioid addiction and it’s effects over night. And surely we don’t expect everyone “on the other side” to be able or willing to work with us but we also seem to single out the people who don’t want to work with us as representing the entire other side. there are interesting studies on politics where we think the worst 1% on our team are crazy outliers that should be ignored but the worst 1% on the other side are average representatives the whole group. Likewise our best 1% are our average representative while the opposing best 1% are the crazy outlier.
  7. Oh yea, you stretch far enough back and it’s barely comparing the same game/same position, right? what’s the best car of all time, the Tesla or the model t? Sure they are both cars, and can be compared to others in their era but it almost feels silly to rank them against each other
  8. With us having no need at the top, I get curious about the mid tier guys in this class. Someone like Michael pratt might be a sneaky steal if he starts to slip- and with so many trendy names and only so many open jobs, he could go later than his talent suggests and actually be a reasonable grab for a backup role for a few years.
  9. Honestly it’s wild speculation but in the realm of “the whole city descended on one event” outcomes- that two groups like that ran into each other and things went sideways is relatively common. It feels like it should be unifying but there’s often folks that otherwise wouldn’t/shouldn’t see each other that suddenly are in the same space unexpectedly
  10. arguments can go either way and im not sure it’s easy to parse out the gap between 15 and 25 (just throwing two ballpark numbers) definitively due to things like scheme, supporting talent, playing conditions, longevity etc that said, I’ll comfortably put Brees squarely in that second plateau behind the Mount Rushmore type guys. he didn’t get multiple rings but by god I don’t think I’ve seen a guy have worse playoff luck and I’m a bills fan (Minnesota miracle, rams no call, etc…) I don’t think you can put Matt Ryan in the same tier, and think he was better than Mcnabb, and McNair for instance. Eli has such a challenging legacy. If you are wrestling with Brees vs favre vs Rodgers I think you are squarely in that “is there a real difference between 10 vs 15 vs 20 type of debate though (with the disclaimer that I haven’t put pen to paper on names)
  11. people across all neighborhoods, demographics and disagreeing camps coming together in a crowd. $5 says it’s not a random fight but two guys with ugly history and not enough sense to skip acting on it in a crowd.
  12. One goes by mongo and the other is Jalen Carter so I’m not sure the academic aspirations are high with The pair
  13. well, also when someone brings it up in response to him threatening to murder their family. carters still the worst of the two if both walked away from “I’ll murder your family” vs “oh your trying to add to your total” and ignoring that Carter continued to pursue it after the game. super talented player but the type the eagles will always have to worry about when they wake up and check their text messages or the news.
  14. Neither looks great in this but to pursue it post game with continued comments about the man’s family is worse
  15. he also played the guy after so whether or not he loved it he needs to downplay the optics of it
  16. because we beat the chiefs in the Super Bowl but not in the divisional round?
  17. sometimes yes, sometimes no. if Josh started struggling to get it 30 yards downfield I’d worry he had something physical and not just a mental issue. how bass was handled down the stretch seemed more akin to that than say Josh making bad reads
  18. kickers often come back around. I’m still curious if there’s more to the story here. It still doesn’t add up fully in my opinion.
  19. one that played very well before signing it nonetheless
  20. I would say that 80% is completely made up. also to your argument, I’d say it varies widely based on how large of an advantage.
  21. that’s normal in todays nfl. Normally you pay a couple cornerstones and then churn like crazy. Being locked into a bunch of good but not great vets is worst case scenario. Heck the pats were doing it a decade ago.
  22. wouldn’t be shocked if he gets tied to purdy and it’s a second stop like Reid where he gets his guy. it’s going to be rough when the niners pay purdy but how do you cut the cord unless you stumble into someome like the pats did Brady
  23. what about exchanging fgs? Or no scores?
  24. honest question - have we ever seen the chiefs go for two there? I know it’s a niche situation they might not have faced but curious if we’ve seen it I understand. But many are acting like it’s without question anyway which would negate a lot
