there’s also the reality that both a spread and condensed can be correct approaches for the same personnel, in the same era, etc…. Sometimes it’s just two different ways that are both good if you have solid players and good play calling

Bills to add Ronald Curry as quarterbacks coach (updated)
NoSaint replied to Roundybout's topic in The Stadium Wall
the percentage of passes that kamara caught flat footed and at the line of scrimmage as a 3rd option was maddening. he wasn’t getting wheels and whips and crafty screens on a lot of those targets. It was Chip block, slip through the line, wait for the check down and get clobbered by the mlb way too many times. im really hoping the two had some of those late night “if I were in charge” ***** talking sessions that revealed curry to be more exciting than Carmichael allowed -
which is probably the mvp like 70-80% of the time…. But does take the fun out of it

no it was a completely dysfunctional offense and a trainwreck that relied on “we can’t do anything else” and resulted in kamara having his lowest yards per catch in his career -

carr wasn’t seeing the field, receivers were a mess and kamara got a thousand dump offs approach -

They overlapped in Nola - so fingers crossed they work together well and are aligned in strategy (and hopefully not the current saints passing strategy) -

honestly, some sarcasm on my part. If we have the best qb and are settling for sneaking by some day - it’s better than never winning but it’s a bummer as an aspirational goal if we get to 2 SB and win 1 that would kind of be where I want the absolute floor to be with this type of qb.
-
we are never going to be a dynasty but we could possibly win is a fun standard to accept with the best qb in the league

if you don’t care about the product on the field, any move is possible the practical nature of the situation is they can keep him a bill for 19m in cash - not a terrible bad value; or Trade him for a modest return, and see his cap hit go up; or cut him and see the increased dead money and get no return but instead have the ability to shift the dead money to next year. I think the situation would need to be incredibly toxic and not just uncomfortable to see him not on the roster. We will see.
-
there’s not a ton diggs can do to reduce the dead money. That’s just cash already paid but not yet accounted for in our cap hits due to amortization trading your WR1, to get a cap hit that goes up and creating a hole to fill is a tough pull to swallow even if you are capable of doing it.
-
meh. It’s normal for the receiving team to be a decent deal unless the player has fallen off a cliff. The signing bonus paid (and amortized) stays with the original club so it becomes essentially a year to year deal below market value. The bills giving up the guy for a higher cap hit is the real challenge
-
meh. The guy has a long history of asking for the attention they have given. Short of a refusal to cover diggs, how is the media supposed to tell his story without that context? That feels like it would be much more of a media driven narrative creation
-
that you’ve curated a hyper bills focused media bubble doesnt make this big news and that his sketchy answers and behavior are being acknowledged doesn’t mean they are creating a narrative out of thin air
-
yea, but diggs is not you. And he is not only doing it in the fly. He’s no showing events, he’s posting on social media. It’s a persona he’s intentionally curated.
-
ready: he has control in the contract he signed his contract keeps him here “I’m ready to go get a championship for the bills this year.”
-
I think you are overstating how eager the media are to create a story with I mid tier WR1 in a low end media market. mostly they are just reporting the basics of a situation and said WR creates drama that is acknowledged by them he simply could come out full throated and say “you know my brothers wild with those comments, but I love him…. And I love playing in Buffalo.” he’s done it his whole career. And as you note, it’s the easiest throwaway comments in the world to make. The only way you don’t think it’s intentional is if you think he’s really low IQ. From there, you have to ask his goal because it is intentional…. Is it just attention? Does he want to force his way out this off-season? Just trying to be a small thorn to make sure the day a move can be made beane races to do it without making himself look like a total cancer?
-
The real issue here is two fold a) do you think Henry can be even a memory of his former self? And can he do that in a limited role? 650 very efficient yards for instance b) ignore Ty Johnson, and instead of rb2 look at him as role player that stresses the defense. His pay won’t be WILDLY off Hines or harty for instance. Do you want to invest that utility/gadget money into a bruiser instead of a speedster? It would be a different approach to making a safety or nickel corner hate his assignments on the day potentially, if you think he still can play. personally I like speed here more than power but wouldn’t be mad to bring in a guy that stamps a bit of an identity on the unit in that role player position
-
to be fair, dalvin was still good with the Vikings.
-
As to the last bit… he’s not going to be penciled in to put any offense on his back as an 80% of carries guy
-
they are all looking for loot. He’s still a high mileage back that is also on the wrong side of 30 the 10th highest paid back in 23 was at 6m for a bit of harsh reality with running backs. im not advocating but think he could potentially be much cheaper than many here are thinking
