Rapp bothered me much more as it’s a buyers market and he’d be low on my list this one I assume was just a “here’s your offer” sent back in late Feb and then he agreed today. I’m not sure it was much of a priority. It’s basically a hair above league minimum

in 22? Davante adams would’ve been a splash play just thinking out loud to tua getting tyreek, Josh getting diggs, etc… burrow with chase is a little different but still a big swing. if doing the platoon, I think I’d rather just go the Green Bay route with young guys 40-45m and no impact player seems the worst case, no?

we likely offered him the deal like 3 months ago, let him test the waters and he came back some of you are really hung up on specific timing of day 1 being important

a) maybe they do, maybe not. b) wherever he lands no longer needs one

put another way: do you prefer having 3 incomplete players, or better off actually getting an elite guy and adding a decent vet plus a pick?
-
it was putting too much weight on one game (or even worse, a couple catches) he’s always been too slow to be the deep guy but not had the hands or agility to be a possession guy. The problem the jags will have is zay has some of the same issue and ran a lot of the low percentage routes to free up Ridley and Kirk.
-
Gabe Davis and harty often combined for zero catches. we aren’t replacing a massive impact id expect a mid tier vet or two and a high draft pick still.

imagine paying gabe-kirk-zay like 40-45m per year (or whatever the averages shake out to be combined) and then a TE more than 10m on top. 50+ on pass catchers and kirks your best one?

lawrence followed him and Gabe on social over the weekend. Lots of speculation about both going to jax followed the way Jax likes to pay mediocre receivers checks out on this possibility

46m less, and 4m per year… I’m not sure I’m following? -

3 for 95 plus 1 for 19 = 4 for 114 (28.5 average) your article says Jones wanted about 28.5 average I’m not sure it’s a real disaster on their part -

If they are trying to get out after 3 the restructure after doesn’t really make it easier to do. I feel like a lot of folks just throwing those terms around Willy nilly -

If you are taking the first safety off the board expectations are wildly different than taking the 5-6th guy at an elite position like edge(or qb if taken to the extreme) you are way over generalizing with your standard. -

brady has been an nfl coordinator more than 9 games and he’s been “in the building” in my own backyard with stops with the saints and lsu im not arguing he’s all that but I think he’s better than Dorsey - both comprehension of my point, and stating accurate facts have been a struggle for you on this one that aside, I do agree about the playoff challenges. Heck, I’ll one up you and point out the last two playoff wins were against wildcard teams starting backup qbs -
typically actual play impacts it essentially zero they are predicted before the season with 99% accuracy normally. The miss here is really surprising honestly. everyone says secret formula but it’s pretty close to exactly modeled by several fans that take the time to do it every offseason

absolutely no one was giving a substantial contract I’ll say I’m also not sure if he had offset language in those guarantees either. I’d think possibly, which would debunk your full premise. But even so…. for a guy like von - the possibility of no phone calls or bidding war and an actual risk of maybe getting few to no offers… and those offers to be incredibly low if they come…. And could only be places he doesn’t want to go. That’s incredibly humbling potentially and also could mark the end of his career. his tape last year was incredibly bad. instead he stays with a winner, looks good, extends his career confidently in a spot he’s comfortable while putting 7m in his pocket this week does have some appeal

The free agent safety market is unbelievable

Two of the least valued positions seeing old expensive vets hit the market? Not shocking -
Typically you cancel out closest comparable players in/out and then the remaining losses are the slotted in by average salary signed. Usually incredibly predictable year to year, even though exact thresholds aren’t shared, because you can estimate the line and add a few percentage points similar to cap inflation

sooooo the nfl stance that no temperature is too cold is probably a workplace safety concern for players, coaches, refs, security at the stadium etc…. and if the nfl is going to play in unsafe temps, at some point the nfl probably needs to refund fans that request not to attend in -30 type temperatures

*milano has to return to better than a street free agent in December to be a step forward from last year. Milano-Bernard has to just be better than Bernard-Klein or Bernard-dodson *I agree it’s a low bar. I’m not holding my breathe that he’s great but he won’t be worse and could be better *having followed much of Brady’s career and being well familiar with Dorsey I feel comfortable speaking on a level higher than ppg in a 3 week window while running Dorsey’s offense - and am totally comfortable with saying who I’d hire if I had a choice between the two -

knock on wood - compared to last year: douglas should be better than tre was Milano has a running partner Kincaid should step up big time Torrence may also see a jump with a year in the system. vonn can’t be worse. better offensive coordinator really, it’s finding WR2 (matching gabe not unlikely, and could improve there) and figuring out the d line. safety and center are holes but they are the least intimidating positions to address on their sides of the ball. Just don’t require elite athletes. Center may be filled as I trust kromer, and even if you hate McD I think he’s earned some leash on filling the back end of the defense it shouldn’t be scary to think with a couple mid tier free agents and and hitting on the 1st round pick that this 53 on week 1 could be more intimidating than it was last year week 1
