  1. He’s a “sign him as a lottery ticket and if he plays like a starter it’s found money” type of guy. You expect nothing and it’s all upside
  2. imagine, he may play even better than his career year being even further removed from the Achilles injury
  3. It’s not the end all be all but it’s a consideration. a guy that’s elite at preparation and honing his craft will be fine though if he has the arm strength, hand size etc…. And if he’s missing any of that it’s a concern in January games regardless of where home is.
  4. private visits are completely normal occurrences for guys at position of need (especially around your picks day 1-2)
  5. if you don’t understand why it’s productive to say whether you think he’s getting 10m or 40m a year (or somewhere in between) when saying they should extend him, I’m not sure what to say. It’s like the folks debating whether he should be traded but all have wildly differing values in their heads. apparently that requires super computing to do though
  6. this is essentially the most difficult injury for someone at his position to recover from. the upcoming year will be much worse on his body than the acl recovery year which means he’s going to be 30 coming off back to back rough injuries next off season as his likely best case
  7. 1 year 3m isn’t particularly expensive
  8. “has to” seems wildly overstated its 200m in dead money and I doubt they are pulling the plug without at least 1 real season
  9. yea, I’m serious. I think that you are saying and above average contract ($35m a year as a floor). That’s noteworthy and should be included in a post because it’s 90% of the context that makes the post actually able to be discussed in any productive way. without it the posts just noise
  10. I don’t think you can avoid a guy because a guy in 2006 from the same school failed.
  11. I mean, the nfls priority would be on field integrity, with being off field role models a distant second. while some of these guys have terrible behavior, I can understand that the job of the league is to protect the product first
  12. I think it should be a requirement to include the money figures when making a comment like this
  13. I’ll be so mad if the take a safety in the first instead of a wr. The difference in cap savings compared to an above average free agent at each position is massive
  14. they pay him the same money: we just keep the dead dollars for accounting since we already paid them
  15. It’s a position where you can truly flip your cap situation for a few years if you hit on a wr1. It’s a $25-30m a year swing we aren’t getting a rookie qb window again but getting an elite pass catcher is both possible and hugely valuable. not campaigning for a specific guy or strategy beyond if they think ones there, they need to get him if they can… even if it costs some draft capital. You’ll have 30m in savings to spend on free agents to replace those picks
  16. As usual, agree. You get not just x and o but league trends, dollars/cents, roster construction and the college pipeline beane has to be looking at this as his urgent chance to find a plus 1 in the Josh plus somebody equation. And now that Josh has been paid his running partner won’t be a big paycheck. He has to start swinging and doing it often. Worst case you end up with a bunch of viable guys, but best case you get that top 10 wr on a rookie deal the problem in discussing his role in our plans is he’s a guy that’s competing to be a minor role player realistically
  17. to further your point, depending on diggs condition- it might be our WR1 isn’t but wr2 is diggs
  18. I think 95% of this board believed you had to add sooooome viable but not game changing vet, and a couple low on the roster bodies before targeting a future WR1 in the draft…
  19. it’s wild that dozens of other guys that are better can’t be pleasant and hardworking
  20. smart move including the preseason.
  21. that’s ultimately the equation right? pickett plus slightly lower draft pick plus improved free agent elsewhere due to cash savings vs other likely more expensive backup to match quality, plus slightly higher pick plus slightly worse free agent elsewhere pickett gives a slight kicker in the off chance he gets trade value or more likely adds to a comp pick going out the door in 2 years (while not costing you one now depending on the eagles situation)
  22. I’d really enjoy video of him and Josh going out to dinner (and not for wings) maybe throw in Dion And McD
  23. We could easily change that
  24. It a 2 year deal that’s $1m cheaper than trubisky I won’t say it’s huge value but they get a guy they are comfortable with for a decent contract with modest draft capital would think the cash value would effect that determination
  25. yea but you want a guy that’s got some experience if cook gets hurt. ty Johnson or a day 3 guy would be a real tough pill in a playoff run… not that the free agents are great but at least some cushion
