  1. I think there's a lot of fair criticism of his play. I'd also bet we have a portion of the fan base that sees black and athletic and thinks unintelligent and not a hard worker and comes to conclusions about his skill without any idea about his ability to read a defense. I think we are all better off acknowledging there's still issues even if it's not the defining feature of the conversation about the guy.
  2. Cam still gets cultural stuff (some a result of his own immaturity, some cause of race), Wilson gets flack for not embracing black culture and the other two simply aren't in the national discussion but regionally jameis has gotten his share (though like cam sometimes hard to distinguish earned vs deserved criticism). The perception of Rodgers belt celebration vs cams superman or dabbing is at least in part due to race.
  3. I don't think he's GREAT. Certainly not a guy you take injured and burn a season on. But when I see stats tossed out without reference I often get curious and peeked at last year just to gauge. Credit to the person that found last year as an anomaly though. I was just bored on my phone and figured it a decent reference. If someone wants to look at his pressures vs production I'd be glad to take in the data point. By eye test I'd venture he likely comes in behind that pace this year but as a (kind of) first season wouldn't be shocked if that's the type of player he bdcomes over long stretches.
  4. Having played 4 games that's 8 sacks and 48 tackles pacing. In 2016 that's 8th in sacks and 2nd in tackles among all defensive lineman
  5. He's frustrating at times. I haven't followed him as close since leaving the saints but he could be real boneheaded and underachieving some weeks, and excellent others
  6. I mean, truly, I think a lot of people are over complicating the though process to normalize a strange situation. There is not one person on this board that would jumped up with a resounding "HIRE THIS MAN NOW" if after his interview with terry he came out and said: "yea, interview went well!! Outlined a plan to trade Darby, Sammy, bench dareus and cordy (and cut kujo in may) only bring back Zo of the free agents, sign 2 FBs It's a bold set of moves (especially if cordy is on the bad side now). Out of the top 10 players on last year's roster, a lot are very quickly gone or marginalized. You have to believe a roster that was more or less .500 with Rex at the helm was actually awful to justify ALL of the moves together
  7. If our expected outcome from the most important position in all of sports was to change drastically by adding 1-2 WR I bet you'd be pretty upset with the front office for actually shedding talent at the position this offseason, no?
  8. It's a lot of players. If he can't motivate ANY of the players we've seen excel that's kind of worrisome, no? Not only do we have to find talent, and scheme fit, but also an increasingly narrow personality type... hopefully he finds a core and realizes you can have some higher risk guys around that to maximize talent still
  9. I'd take an extra pick 20 yards down field if it corresponds to 2 extra chunk plays and backing the safety off the line some. Tyrods been good at not making the obvious mistake but in doing so he's making a lot of less obvious mistakes. If his caution ends two drives early, but saves a turnover- did we come out ahead?
  10. I think, to a degree, there's a reasonable question about the slice of the fan base they are targeting... which can probably only be answered so directly in a public forum but.... Is the primary goal to be kind of a 1.5 bills drive (a place that assumes the reader is seeking out a lot of content already and the writers are focusing on providing in depth content through unique access) Or is it targeting the fan the wants a more efficient clearing house where on their Thursday lunch break they can get the talking points on the week without sifting through 6 websites?
  11. May as well just cut McCoy then and save the money, amirite? Or would you agree talent still matters even if limited by the line?
  12. It does seem worth giving him a few carries if he's the replacement in case of injury - knock a little rust off if he might be going zero to sixty quickly any given week
  13. So McCoy rolls an ankle and you think we have someone capable of being a lead back in his place?
  14. You do realize we can pursue both, right? It doesn't have to be in any order.
  15. McCoy rolls an ankle in the first quarter you are good with just tolbert?
  16. Wasn't there someone after the Matthews trade arguing we had a solidly above average group? That guy annoyed me
  17. One would hope. It's not a position of strength outside 1 guy
  18. Have there been many more? I'd venture the guy making just above the league minimum get hit harder than the elite qb. A guy like Andre Holmes loses cash before tom Brady does in this
  19. I like to give benefit of the doubt but it really surprised me how many people were on the "he didn't realize he couldn't have that 1 beer" kick It was a real long shot for that to be true
  20. So take a bunch of guys that aren't likely to see the field except for injury and lock them fully into a single roster and suddenly our 8th WR will be more exciting than having him on the practice squad?
  21. I guess my point was you have to replace MG and JW somehow and only have so many picks.... so banyard is a placeholder vet. I'm not saying right or wrong but I think that's at least a factor in play. It's easy to drop young guys and you can only backfill that with so many young guys in one offseason
  22. If you include the practice squad you essentially just nailed the current system. Part of it, just like limiting who dresses, is to force decisions- which helps create a more dramatic product
  23. The flip side-- Do you trade a day 3 pick for Gaines, keep Sammy, possibly steal a playoff appearance then let him walk for a comp 3 instead of 2 if he's the difference in the 1-2 games that push you over the edge but still won't sign him. Just a hypothetical
  24. Oh, I've noted the huge vacuum we've created with ditching an incredible amount of day 1 & 2 picks this offseason. We agree. I was just noting the signings they seemed to seek were tolbert, boldin, wood, and pushing kw to return.... even if boldin didn't work out it seemed clear they wanted a collection of in your face vet leaders. The only place we diverge is I'm not sure they were dying for a ton of old guys across the board as much as trying to get rid of every whaley player they could and young guys are easy to walk away from while a lot of vets come with big dead money (see dareus, clay, and possibly even Glenn among those). You can only bring in so many draft picks in one offseason so it forced the roster to get old by tossing young guys while securing those older "influencers"
  25. Yup. Most of these games are a coin flip from here, plus or minus a little bit. could come up all heads, or all tails but more likely somewhere in the middle.
