  1. Would it even be that much? I'm not trying to run through the details right now but is that total cap hit that we would have on the books including salary for games he was on our roster this year? (I know, quibbling a bit but not what I consider dead money) As to feasibility of the trade route- We'd essentially have what we paid him for his services this year plus accelerating that 9.6m that's the 3 years of amortized bonus (offsetting that acceleration would be clearing over half his 9m salary for the year). So a small spike spread over 2 years. Not ideal but not awful. And for a team assuming his contract he's not bad value (essentially 3 year 29m after this season and easy to get out of)
  2. Will Tyrod pass for over 228 yards and transplant start over 9 threads about him in October? Go in record with your bets now
  3. There was the vikes safety a few years back that was pulling guys off the pile and shoved a ref - tossed from the game but no suspension I definitely think it's an offense that warrants suspension but trying to give some alternate perspectives if the whole rooms going to settle on assuming marshawns attorney will be sitting silently
  4. I was curious and googled penalties for touching referees -- vikes safety popped up (ejected not suspended though) And the rule book pops up with first offense as a fine: https://operations.nfl.com/football-ops/fines-appeals/ So, there may be some sort of answer from his lawyer. Depends on the points of the cba rules and precedents and the Nfl often steps outside of those.
  5. How old are the players you are looking to draft?
  6. Prefer less talented but more polished products? In its own way extending a GM that likes going high talent with some red flags to maximize overall skill and then firing him for a regime that wants no red flags was a bit akin to the constant 34 - 43 - 34 shifts. We had stocked the cabinet with a certain type of player and then brought in a guy that was incompatible with those players.
  7. It would have to lean on either precedent or defined punishment for contact (and entering the field). Someone here claimed both were clearly defined fines- so I guess it's possible the NFL has yet again overstepped their own rules but I don't really know In this case
  8. To be fair he was pretty productive as a rookie (about 1000 yards and half dozen tds) with EJ/Orton and Hackett. Not GREAT but a pretty solid year for a rook The next year once healthy he was downright explosive with roman and Tyrod And last year he was hurt. It's not like it's been quite as erratic or poor as many like to imply. he needs to step up this year but I think there's some wait and see left on how it'll go
  9. His point was that judging a guys pay by a single cap hit is like judging a qb by his rating on the third drive of each game alone. Gives you some of the story but why not look at the big picture.
  10. Weird, right? When you pick the two highest years of his cap hit and we are alread half way through one of them. And of course those are high hits because of that amortized signing bonus that would create all that dead space since we already paid the cash. You are correct that hit is important but if you ignore the mapping of the cash your going to make poor decision.
  11. That's overstating it a bit. His average pay puts him 5th among left tackles, and as usual dropping down the list as years pass. He's paid as an above average LT, not as the second best lineman in the league. A single year cap hit is low in the ways I'd rank pay in the league.
  12. What if her own opinion agrees with those guys?? I believe that's YOLO that you don't like. As a grumpy old white dude, I'll excuse your inability to decipher between the tweet and his own comments at the end. Technology can be tricky for y'all.
  13. I'm normally on mobile and rarely go to the front page but..... I always assumed it was a pretty basic aggregator and that with the BN really ramping up their coverage to justify the fee it was obviously just catching more of them because they probably put out more content then the next 2-3 competitors right now.
  14. It's funny how that's such a strong overlap, right? And not just the $3 specifically but the same ones that are so appalled by having to scroll past something they don't want to read are the ones that create the most unreadable content.
  15. Every now and again you get a thread where nearly everyone I'd consider blocking land on the same side of an issue. I'm not talking people I disagree with but the ones where if there were more of them I'd log out and not come back Could the articles be fine tuned? Maybe a little but I think the icon nails it as far as solutions go.
  16. I have to ask- why would you listen to THAT?
  17. Deals like these have hurt them far more than Drew's. It's amazing the dead money they've had from signing bonuses for guys that don't even make it a calendar year.
  18. Then it was pretty ridiculous to wait to get them.
  19. I referenced an interesting article I've posted a few times through the years- with the rockets gm talking about how appearance biases effected scouts (we compare guys to other players they look like - not just on tape but physically too) He forces scouts to finish phrases like "the prospect has a first step similar to..." with players of different race to avoid lazy comparisons. You can point at these coaches, gms, and scouts as immune but we watch them fall victim to all kinds of silly biases or bad decision making processes
  20. I don't think he's as overtly referring to klan type racism as much as the soft biases of high motor vs athletic And that doesn't have to be the difference between "I'm great" and "he's terrible" but as subtle as the difference between average and slightly below average based on grading a mediocre player against a slightly more stringent rating system
  21. I think this year was projected at roughly below, next year a tiny bit higher 3rd-10m 4th- 6.5m 5th- 5.5m 6th- 3 and change I'm not sure where Hyde slots up but to get the pick in this year's draft instead of next, and guarantee they get that pick --- probably a pretty late pick gets it done.
  22. The comp picks at the end of the 3rd are around a 10m per year salary qualifier. I may be out of touch on how Hyde is viewed but what kind of deal is he projected for? That seems very high.
  23. I think there are more on this board then we care to admit that would be swayed by someone that "looks the part" regardless of if they played the part better. Some actively racist, most simply subject to our own unconscious biases of grouping things based on similar looks
  24. Yup. Fine with a day 3 pick to actually solidify our only viable strength on offense. If we have any chance of going anywhere it's keeping McCoy healthy, having anything behind him in case he goes down and riding the defense. Running back stands a better chance than WR for contributing quickly too
  25. The rockets GM had an interesting policy to try to eliminate racial stereotypes from their scouting - only comparing guys skill sets across racial boundaries. In other wards the scout evaluating TT couldn't come in comparing him to cam or jameis or Cunningham or... it had to be comparisons to other races. Allegedly it was a major struggle for professional evaluations but we as fans we of course obviously know we are above it. Just thought it was an interesting dynamic that I once read about.
