  1. I don't think tyrods play has swung near as high and low as some here do... across 3 years I think most of his strengths remain stead, and his flaws pretty consistent when you step away from stats and look at skills on the field. He's a good player, but not a great player. If you chunk out the rankings into quarters (1-8, 9-16, 17-24, 25-32) I think most of the debate would be simply to put him slightly below or above average. Most years he's scored out above average... in part because he's stayed much healthier than I expected. Kudos to the guy, whether you put him at 13 or 19. At that point I think the rankings fall back to whatever version of the Nfl you enjoy the most
  2. I think there are very valid questions about what he's demanding as compensation. If he stands in the room, pen in hand, declaring he will take 2 years, 5m -- sign him yesterday. If he thinks he deserves the 10m per year plus incentive fringe starter contract.... well... that takes finding the perfect fit and he's burned a few bridges in what would already be a tough find.
  3. What an odd comparable as a player. Any reason you chose to highlight Jamarcus here? CK is 8% higher completion percentage. Didn't flop out with drugs, gambling and refusing to participate Is known for his mobility as opposed to being 300 lbs Was a huge value for his rookie contract
  4. No one said you can't express what you please. I was just confused by the idea that you implied essentially saying because he acknowledged that this might harm his career that he shouldn't pursue available recourse to try to salvage his career
  5. Chris longs base salary was $1m and kaepernick pledged and I believe did donate $1m last year. I think CK did some incredibly immature stuff (see pig socks) along the way but I'll likewise give him some credit for bringing the discussion to the dinner table, to the executive board room and so on... And that often takes abrasive acts and making people uncomfortable. Having seen you talk about experiences with loved ones with addiction - I'm sure you have seen plenty of middle class Americas aversion to having tough conversations. It comes with some rough patches but I still think there's something to be said for talking about those tough topics so I give him some credit as a guy in his mid 20s sparking national discussion (for better and worse) So he's allowed no interest in pursuing his own career in parallel? You can acknowledge you are risking something but still be willing to fight for it, no? Or once you make the statement you just have to grin and watch those that oppose you bury you because you knew there was risk of backlash?
  6. It's a tricky spot -- I agree that a business owner shouldn't have to take a hit because of an employee wanting to demonstrate. These owners are about making money and if they think they would make less with him it's a fair choice. I also think of all the places fans could draw the line it's a bit disheartening that a player quietly kneeling for what he believes is helping his fellow man is where the line is drawn (whether you agree with him and his view on the statistics or not - I think he genuinely sees a problem that he is trying to help fix at risk to his own well being)
  7. Imma go out on a limb and guess that you talk to a lot of people that probably do, but because you disagree with this ones politics you are making it a sacred line
  8. If he plays even close to how he is capable it's not bad once you strip the dead money -- and the new team would be free of that
  9. In hindsight, probably would've been cheaper than these newly acquired medical bills
  10. Wasn't wright rated out as the worst corner in the league last year? We might be waiting awhile for him to be back up.
  11. Not ask him to cover often and hope you aren't caught when you do
  12. After he got beat up yesterday I bet he might
  13. Seems like a kid that should've been a wr3 or 4 with some well crafted packages ala deonte today only out there for like 15 pass plays. Being forced to be our WR1 with no other real threats likely had him not just facing tougher coverage but having to master the entire offense very quickly and that's a lot of pressure for a day 2 pick. Now do you let him play through it or pull him back?
  14. That was a serious catch
  15. In most cases having that many often indicates a lack of established players, not that depth is out of this world great
  16. Im a big fan of having a wide latitude with certain spaces and like having tailgates being a spot that you can bend the letter of the law but that comes with a responsibility to self police the scene a bit because eventually the reputation becomes a huge liability for the team, the police force, etc.... and like you mention it becomes easy to justify a sanitized and profitable knock off of the experience that most of us love. Hopefully we don't have one of these guys break their necks for their own sake. Hopefully the most extreme ones get reigned in a little for all of our sakes.
  17. Jokes aside, the escalating reputation of our lots being absolute mayhem is likely to culminate with a lot of y'all losing your ability to tailgate responsibly. It's feeling like it's tilting closer and closer to hitting that point
  18. Probably not often but has anyone scored by getting tackled? Once you are stuck you may as well try
  19. Yup. And turnovers can be a big deal or completely mitigated by aggressive play succeeding elsewhere. If the int is downfield, it can essentially be a punt while an extra 100+ yards passing flips the field multiple times or adds points. I'd love to see a few more of those shots still but it was a good game for Tyrod. Hopefully some stuff he can start stringing together and not a one off.
  20. That first would've been bigger than staying in bounds
  21. Tampa is a much better team than most here thought. They are who we hope to be in 2 years.
  22. Deonte is clearly the weapon tyrods been waiting his whole career for
  23. You are seemingly basing that on a pretty small sample. Dude was a low-mid 50s completion percentage at his prime. He had a rocket arm but erratic accuracy and decision making.
  24. Give it about 2.5 years and you'll be knocking him just in case he leaves too
  25. Was a joke, you know with your multiple bet threads on tyrods stats, this thread in tyrods stats, the thread a couple weeks ago on tyrods stats when the teams trailing, the thread on cam (as compared to Tyrod)
