  1. Would be kind of a jerk move to do that via twitter
  2. Generally would agree on all fronts
  3. Why would he think suspension and not just “hey we will give you a little reward up front for you doing this pay cut” Or maybe it’s that he’s upset from something else they are representing him on or maybe he felt good doing this and the agent pushed him not to
  4. Thats like the 70th highest paid wr. Could you get a safer guy? Yea. But with the risk comes potential reward.
  5. Cap hit this year is $2.6m if traded which is a bigger risk than the pick... and still not a big risk really the pick could turn into a higher comp down the line with his expiring contract depending on how the plus minus goes (the next offseason should see signings)
  6. Yea but sometimes situations get dicey and it happens. Not sure if either side is completely soured here but I suppose possible it could happen
  7. He should be a decent player there. Not a guy that scares me but productive and gives them some breathing room when the inevitable injury or two come during the season
  8. Late round? Why not?
  9. Does he covet draft picks or did he covet ammunition to get a qb?
  10. If we ignored all the extra picks and I said we come out of round 1 2018 with our top qb, an and all pro WR and still had a round 2 pick and two round 3 picks but it cost us a 1 and 2 next year.... you’d love it. That we accumulated so many extra picks changes the equation a little bit. We can target guys we want without it crippling our pipeline of talent. I don’t think he expects to get three starters that deep... but a rb in the 5th could contribute right away and it’s not crazy to think either a corner or DB could be a rotational guy down the line.
  11. I think acknowledging he didn’t know the game, didn’t study the game and left himself completely unprepared is quite a bit of that. Noting that the team somehow missed that and didn’t do much to fix it is also (as far as we know) part of the story. Not a perfect quote or something you are dreaming to see but in the context of where he may be it isn’t that unreasonable i was one of his harshest critics, but would tap the breaks before blowing this out of proportion
  12. Right but when it won you a heisman and got you picked in the first do you think you have to change? The browns shouldve known who he was and planned accordingly. Similarly - if considering him now you need to expect a learning curve on and off the field. You have to build a support system.... but if paying 180m to a roster what’s a couple bucks for some specialists to devise customized plans for guys
  13. Did you expect a guy with 25 years of baggage to sober up and not be a bit clumsy at times? ignoring the finer points of HIM as we don’t actually know any of them.... you can’t expect immediate perfection out of guys like this.
  14. Why would you do that?
  15. A tweet like that sure will start the rumor mill
  16. What do you want to hear from him? “I suck and should probably sell cars” isn’t a reasonable expectation
  17. I’ll even say it concerns me he couldn’t get that power if I’m evaluating his skill set... if you can’t get bosses to empower you that can be an issue from both ends... but yea- outside of qb it was an incredibly talented roster for how often we changed philosophy without him picking the coaches
  18. Because you wouldnt simply look look at who is the best at playing qb today nor would you only using today’s metrics . The context would be their impact in their own era. Not who is most well known at this moment. A guy could be hugely controversial 40 years ago but not well known by kids today.
  19. When you can’t pick the coach you can’t set the vision.... all you can do is stock talent
  20. That graham trade also netted max unger- a high quality player
  21. Im sure they have some idea... but what if a curveball happens? Come draft day what if NE offers up a massive package? Or the QBs slide more than expected? Or you have a deal roughly in place for 3 and the jets jump in for example? spending time with guys that you think will be big time players is always productive on some level
  22. Plus you could see him at a division rival and it’s not terrible to have extra insight and you can ask him questions about both teammates and opponents during the visit
  23. They could be all in on trading up and still get stuck without a partner. Or the QBs could slide more than expected and allow them to keep 22. it would be irresponsible to only look at the top QBs even if they are your plan
  24. He’s turning 41 in camp - obviously it’s near. that said - I can’t imagine him walking this late in the offseason. It would have to tarnish his reputation to pull the rug out from under the team days before the draft instead of having the discussion in February
  25. The beauty of speed outside (and all over really) is separation— TT wasn’t throwing tight windows but he wasn’t terrible if there were enough guys putting pressure on the defense. With all those and his own legs he wouldn’t need to be a great passer to lead an explosive offense. Can TT be a franchise qb and can TT be a part of an offense that puts up points can be two different questions.
