  1. Truly there’s a bunch but there’s not as much soap opera gossip Defensive line? Linebacker situation? Pass rush in general? Wide receivers? Running back depth? Offensive line and whether we start 2018 with 3 new starters in the group?
  2. And I’m not a huge fan but I think McD is who knows about our knew oc
  3. Plus you aren’t rolling with peterman and two rookies... so they have to like him enough to move on from NP unless it’s a real late prospect that can go practice squad
  4. Yup - there are sweet spots where you find the cheapest place you can get the types of players you need. You move to those spots whenever possible. Two guys at a need position rated the same? Keep moving back til you risk losing both. Big drop off behind a guy slated 10 picks ahead? Go get him.
  5. Right, but when you are used to drafting top 10ish for 20 years, having to give up all your extra picks to get back to where you are used to being.... it’s like getting a raise and taxes going up simultaneously. You don’t complain but it doesn’t feel as exciting as you were hoping it would.
  6. Cap is little to no worry for us generally speaking. There’s a large segment here that’s conditioned to being told we can’t have nice things.... but we’ve never actually been in trouble with cap I’m not sure which is more predictable- the “we can’t afford that” posts in February or the “how did those teams in cap trouble afford that” in March
  7. We have great draft resources for a playoff team. compared to our usual draft slots — we might be softer even with the extra picks.
  8. I agree he has a decent shot but I don’t know that it’s slam dunk until he gets closer to 10k witten at 12,500 yards and 68 tds gates 11,500 and 114 tds Gronk 7,000 and 76 tds has to be 3rd and those are all behind tony g being eligible with 15000 and 111 jimmy graham is just shy of 7k and has 69 tds— so if gronk stopped today there’s a chance graham pushes him to 6th on the list? By the time your looking at the 5-6th tight end do we see some of these young guys eclipsing his numbers? I guess it’s a matter of how the committee treats the pats dynasty. Coach and qb are mainstays that are easy to put in but is gronk a corner stone or a side kick in their minds?
  9. Say he retires the same year as witten and Gates — what order do you have them going in?
  10. If he ends up the 5th best of the era, and there are only 8 tight ends in the Hall to date— will voters stretch to pull in that many guys? Obviously the position has changed but the receiving nature of it puts him against a glut of WRs too.
  11. With the ability to carry over you can still shove some down the line and save flexibility just in case. That only hurts if you spend recklessly to the limit and he flops... As someone noted- if 75m is guaranteed, that’s less than 3 years, so there’s almost certainly some sort of chance to get out after two
  12. Without clicking is this list just “10 teams without a franchise qb” essentially? With maybe a team like the saints as the risqué surprise
  13. Hed be behind a handful of guys from this era — gates, witten, Gonzalez are all ahead currently. jimmy graham might surpass him soon. Turns into a log jam and receivers will be competition for him too, with a glut there due to the passing explosion i think his post season records give him a nice bump but he’s probably 2-3 seasons off from slam dunk?
  14. Look for a lot more fumbles and sketchy completions with that change. One of the the biggest issues is that regardless of if the refs get the frame by frame- we do. As fans we have to manage our own expectations a bit. Being angry to be angry is no way to spend our Sundays
  15. It’s one of those that if you totally detach from reality - isn’t the craziest thing ever but I can’t see it ever happening
  16. Where and who? my newsfeed and yours will be different man.
  17. I think he’s probably average middle class jock that wasn’t a rocket scientist but generally pretty functional at life — and he’s gotten far enough that he rarely has to be super serious.
  18. He has a good support system around him and seems to have some sense. Just like he was taught being smart financially I suspect he’s getting reasonable advice about whether 2-3 years of football might be worth 30 years of being happy and functional later Also - in his case I think there’s some gray area between “dumb” and “set for life and going to have fun and doesn’t care what anyone thinks.” Yea he does a lot of ridiculous stuff- and I don’t particularly like him - but I suspect a lot would be dumb for me but no big deal for a multimillionaire Right? Ultimately some of our best stories are being young, dumb, and without fear of consequence. He gets that on steroids 250 days a year. With just a small modicum of common sense - he can do whatever makes him happy. Whether or not he truly gets it, I’m not sure.... but if he does, there’s something to be said for being smart enough to go live life in big bold ways while you can
  19. Or he decided that he was too good to work for a dysfunctional franchise with what might be an active addict running the show if his current employer was willing to step up
  20. Coining it helmet to helmet instead of keying more on the defenseless player aspect was interesting to see fans struggle with the last several years How they deliver rules during broadcasts has hurt the league as much as just about anything in the last decade. Better education for announcers would go a looooong way to fans understanding and in turn appreciating the game instead of feeling confused or jobbed by the refs.
  21. I don’t think we are the third worst team but i wouldn’t put us much higher for odds of winning the super bowl
  22. Ultimately it’s a few humans regulating the actions of a whole lot of humans. It won’t always be perfect or perfectly consistent - but hopefully it’s fair. In this case it was incredibly fair. As a fan, if you are seeking a PERFECT to the letter of the book game — you’ll never see it. And I don’t think you’d enjoy it all that much if you did.
  23. Because outrage at the refs is like so in style right now
  24. Not unfair - I made similar points last night when people said the eagles took a bad risk on a play that didn’t work likewise said it about the pick where Gilmore was wrestling Jeffrey— theres a degree of luck with regards to exactly when moves work and don’t work but when a guy is being who he is— you kind of have to accept the good and bad
  25. I suspect this had no effect just like many others that people have spazzed about
