  1. Yup — if you are making a mock Darnold is the safe pick, Allen is the upside pick rosen tends to be the guy that everyone likes a lot but no ones absolutely in love with. Plus he hasn’t been linked to the Browns via rumors like the other two.
  2. If I recall correctly a 20 is average andslots up to about 100 on an iq test, and every 5 points on the wonderlic really roughly slots up to 10 iq points for bar napkin purposes. frankly, under 10 is in the “are they literate” category as you are getting into just guessing being about the same on average. I don’t mean that as a joke or insult but you have to have a real talk at that point to see if they guy needs special accommodations to learn the system or is just that level of “I don’t care” on a related note, I think teams would be wise to employ some sort of special education person on their staff to help work with guys and identify opportunities for how to better teach some of them. I don’t think an old school coach is the best candidate to come up with a learning plan for someone that might have a disability.
  3. Ultimately it’s not thaaaat different than the 40 or bench or... 1) different positions will curve differently for benchmarks. Guys like your qb or mlb will have higher expectations than a DT 2) there’s a range of “cool, no question he can do the job.” Your wide out running a 4.45, is like you qb high 20s 3) a wr running a 4.3 is fantastic but doesn’t mean he will succeed just like a 47 on the wonderlic doesnt. It’s a nice piece of a picture but the rest has to still come together 4) a 4.6 doesn’t mean you can’t be a WR but I sure want to take another look at the film, maybe ask how you felt about the time, and generally check out the red flag, just like a 17 wonderlic at qb 5) a 4.9 at wr is probably a dealbreaker unless you catch that they tripped. Likewise a 3 on the wonderlic is probably a dealbreaker unless they took it with the flu, have a learning disability and also didn’t have their reading glasses. Its not worthless, but on its own doesn’t tell enough
  4. Or they’ll meet with them all as much as possible as including our own pick our division will have at least 1 if not 2-3 additional of the top 6 or so QBs potentially joining teams. If he ends up on the Jets, it’s great insight, for instance. And the dolphins and pats might also be looking at second tier guys we get linked to. Thats also not a qb.
  5. You think that’s the price to get to 6? That’s probably 2 and maybe 1 if the Browns think their qb lasts til 4
  6. To be fair, we aren’t some totally talentless black hole if we trade away an extra first and extra second and only have normal picks plus some extras late
  7. Just seems a quality reporter would frame that better
  8. There is an element of remembering that just because people in the new regime weren’t fans doesn’t mean cordy did anything wrong. Tyler could be right, and Glenn still be a fine guy
  9. Or intern on the keyboard
  10. Its easy to work someone in if you think it’s important. A $20m signing bonus is only $4m in this years cap. You just have to choose wisely. I don’t care about the personality a ton— but worry he’s the type that won’t live up to the deal he’s about to get. I also doubt we are trading picks for and giving monster deals to both Benjamin and him. I think our dynamic guy is coming from the draft.
  11. Feeling better after the big fight?!? ?
  12. So not only do you expect our scouts to find the once every 5-10 year prospect at qb but particularly the one that hundreds of professionals missed so we can get him outside the top pick — instead of taking a shot at a guy high this year because those aren’t slam dunks (even though our scouts might see something you don’t)
  13. I think buffalo rushed into that decision. Impulse control always seems to be an issue.
  14. How do you jump on that one guy unless you know something no one else does?
  15. But that’s why this is a tough poll- where they land is huge. If the reports are true that the saints like mayfield I’d be a lot quicker to vote him than if the jets do. I don’t think any of these guys are the once in a generation talent that is a slam dunk to be good anywhere they go. How often do you see those guys though?
  16. Beyond that — I think maybin was the most foreseeable bust probably. Dude barely qualified as a sack artist in college. Im curious if he meant biggest bust or worst pick. Subtle changes in interpretation can make a big difference in the discussion. Big mike was the big bust... but was he the worst pick?
  17. Generally top picks are a coin flip so it makes sense we’d see a split
  18. Are you lonely at home? It feels like you might be lonely.
  19. Say it 8 times. You may not be personally defending it but you shouldn’t be surprised when you post a possible explanation and you receive a response that doesn’t agree with the take. It’s not like i burst in insulting you but simply said if you have the rights to a guy there’s no reason to move on until it’s accomodating another move. Weve had this discussion a few times with other decisions Beane made (firing the scouts and then rehiring a few for instance).
  20. I tend to agree. Which is why it felt to me like there was some sort of personal animosity between them and felt uncomfortable with the timeline (again could be nothing) Im all for justice but think that includes taking emotions down and following the fact patterns and giving even criminals a fair shake to defend themselves.
  21. To be fair the standard at a grand jury is pretty low. Having a cop say he saw something in and of itself likely has a pretty good batting average in a grand jury itll be interesting to learn why this really took so long and what’s been going on. I’m sure we will learn a lot more soon. I’ll again say I don’t doubt Bennett was a schmuck but I’m curious to actually hear more about the incident and investigation. That it came back around after his other incident with police feels kind of uncomfortable but there could be an easy answer why
  22. It happens all the time- not just 6 seeds either. We’ve seen division champs skate in with luck or circumstance Again, why I’m saying I don’t think simply getting in is that big of an accomplishment or the 7 that much of a failure. I’d obviously rather land 6 and have a shot than 7 and be home but don’t think I change my evaluation at all based on whether cincy completes that pass
  23. For me - it’s the difference between a playoff team that’s a true championship contender vs the next tier of a half dozen teams that are separated by a funny bounce or rolled ankle. Whether you are the 6th seed or the 8th seed doesn’t drastically change my view of a team most years
  24. Nah. Im going to have to find a new secret one. You know, in case this place closes. Don’t need to be at the first place you show up at telling me to leave ? seriously though, simmer down. You start a thread like that, youre likely to catch a joke or two
