  1. I had a sneaking suspicion it was squeeze my hand and wiggle your toe type command response- sounds like pretty close. Great start here!
  2. For those more accustomed to the terminology- would the statement neurologically intact be limited to just basic physical functions or would there be some limited baseline cognitive implication as well?
  3. they might want them at their game but if we meet in the playoffs, both teams staff plus damar would bring the house down in either city
  4. I do think at some point this morning you really have to commit to the game or pull the plug. game planning and player safety become a concern soon, and as annoying as he is, the guys right that it’s still a massive production to pull the plug on last minute. From the highest level production expenses down to the security guard that is telling his second job he can’t work cause he has a game day- at some point it’s got to transition to all in barring a catastrophic change. Yea, I think this is the day they transition from everyone doing what they need in the wake of the event to an official plan of this is what we are doing as a team moving forward - whatever that looks like
  5. to those saying the 2 seed doesn’t matter… can you imagine him leading them out of the tunnel before an AFCCG against the bengals in Buffalo?
  6. conversationally saying that is different than literally quitting the nfl has also come out several times saying they did not intend to restart the game, contrary to the ESPN comment but you know these things no, they’d much rather host in a 2 v 3 showdown to go to the Super Bowl
  7. while I hear what your saying, it also still makes a ton of sense among imperfect solutions and may actually be the most reasonable approach if not for the emotions it evokes and the inability of a guy like Keyshawn Johnson to explain it
  8. the idea of removing a random game from the chiefs makes more sense than simply week 17. Which is allegedly the nfl front running plan
  9. there’s no giant asterisk. It’ll be forgotten near instantly.
  10. was typing the same thing and got an error. I’ll shorthand it to “call me back when Miami fixes their stadium or allows shade for visitors” if you want to talk to me about the nfl owing fairness to all teams. It’s a standard the league doesn’t believe in, outside of preserving ratings to preserve income. im cool if they make it up, and cool if you skip it. Nothing about that is unfair… and frankly even if it was it’s not even among the most egregious examples that needs to be fixed.
  11. you should bet your house and retirement on it I guess
  12. Yea, I think mixed news today, but any progress is huge… hopefully the oxygen numbers are a step towards life, and figuring the rest out from there. Also felt good to read cautious optimism shared with the team.
  13. I mean this not as a knock on the bengals but a compliment to humanity: I think all 32 franchises and fans would respond similarly they have been great though.
  14. part is that the tragedy is ongoing until we know if he will live. There’s not even superficial levels of closure yet. We aren’t wired to eee catastrophe and then have no resolution or activity. It’s hard but it’s human to be uncomfortable in limbo of helplessness
  15. At some point these are hyper competitive guys and many won’t want to stew in this - winning one for damar could quickly gain momentum in the room as both empowerment and distraction. Go out and compete is how plenty if these guys learned how to deal with tragedy through their lives.
  16. they will rally and it’ll be empowering for fans to support and teammates to experience today is dark but sports also bring out the best
  17. yea, between college, camps, regional connections (high schools with an nfl talent or two find their way to state championships often), shared agents, shared marketing guys, pro bowls, etc… guys are on each others radars for a lot of years in that super elite skill range that makes up the nfl brotherhood. And that’s all outside the roster churn of playing together or getting together for fun in the off-season
  18. I think the nfl quietly hopes it’ll prove to be inconsequential after this weeks games.
  19. honestly, I’m fine with whatever. There are a ton of kids that could use joy. I’m sure it’ll be sorted out.
  20. I think no news is still no news at this crossroads, unfortunately- it could just as easily be a rough patch but waiting on a miracle. Just have to wait and see. I know this all intuitively but had hoped for a lil something still. Just being human. Especially after clicking through that one guys Twitter account a few mins ago (totally my own fault)
  21. yea, we are all going to be over the top looking for the “he’s fighting” to contradict folks like deters. Fingers crossed as with most bills news, this family is following the model of it all tight knit and inner circle and no need to share too much too fast
  22. Ugh - I’ll be the first to say it’s none of our business but had quiet hope that this statement would have some sort of positive undertone to glean. A “he’s currently stable but we don’t know the road ahead” or something would’ve eased my worries for him slightly.
  23. Probably not. they know it’s a dangerous game, and have seen guys paralyzed. I think the retirement talk is larger being a prisoner of the emotions of the moment- on Sunday they will be nfl players, and for many it’s everything they ever dreamed of, even knowing the risk. hell, the concussion stuff illustrates the need for outsiders to intervene and stop the players from hurting themselves
  24. yea, a scripted first drive only means so much. It was two big teams in a heavyweight fight- looking at the first punch from each means little on who would be standing hours later
