  1. wentz had a much less substantial resume and fell off the cliff much harder on the field while being a jerk in the locker room to ice the cake
  2. not to minimize it but you are probably to deep into the trees to see the forest at this point. You are just throwing everything at the wall and should probably go enjoy your Saturday, and come back to the game tomorrow with a clean slate. Josh is an elite qb. The offense even with its troubles is very good. We will likely be play Miami for the division lead in a couple weeks. none of us, you included, needed another new Josh thread. wentz is an awful comparable.
  3. That Allen’s tossed him a few amazing throws isn’t testament to him consistently moving where he should be and getting there on schedule for the qb needs when the play breaks down. he’s slower, lacking agility and doesn’t find the easiest zone for the qb in any consistent way. I’ve in fact watched him drift into really difficult windows frequently. Kind of like running the corner too short creating a harder through in this video, conceptually.
  4. I think Lawrence post pay day and with a defensive coach would be an interesting comparable. Right now he’s in that easiest time to shine where you can have extra weapons. And he has a coach that can help him more. I think Josh has more overall talent though.
  5. It all depends what you mean… running a high/low forcing 1 guy to cover two that are spread is a great test. running a high/low allowing 1 guy to cover two guys clustered is a debacle
  6. As a 4.55 guy, it’s a particular challenge but as a guy with terrible shuttle/cone, and “very poor” grades in agility with the RAS metrics, perhaps underneath is also not his spot as he isn’t running whips and such either. He’s a good mid round pick. He has a spot in the league. He can’t win against CB1 consistently though and you can’t be the team that pays him his second contract.
  7. Davis doesn’t snap. Turning twice would take far too long.
  8. agreed. And it’s hard to put your finger on it to make a message board argument but generally agree that a lot is not crisp, and the system is not sharp and we often have a goofy play call like the OT draw at big times…. And that’s not to say it’s a dumpster fire but…. I wonder often what we’d look like with true offensive leadership in the building. Daboll was better but having an offensive head coach, and an OC who’s sharp would be welcome.
  9. Davis particularly runs soft routes, doesn’t fight for the ball and when plays break down he tends to be not the most qb friendly guy. I really thought in addition to the ankle there was maybe some core injury. He just moved like a cruise ship sometimes last year… but he’s still just not a crisp mover No one said that either though. Needing and wanting are different.
  10. fair. Though I’ll lobby back… is Dorsey in the 3rd quarter calling plays and perhaps on tilt himself the same energy as Dorsey on the sideline with him 2 years ago? Is Joe Brady filling those shoes on the sideline?
  11. he also threw 80 fewer passes in 2022 than 2021…. So an uptick in trouble passes while a drop in overall passes thrown
  12. the worry is he’s not a speed guy or a jumper… so the one trick is not even something he’s particularly skilled at. he seems like a good guy and hard worker and I hoped he’d show up big when healthy but…. That was a bad night.
  13. But seriously - if you were on tilt… is THAT the guy you’re wanting to get you right?
  14. you can’t call the runs if he acts like he did in the first quarter. If he sneaks out of bounds for the first, and gets down on third and a mile… I think the game flow might’ve been very different (more runs planned and improv, instead of heaving a few of those… and possibky more comfortable on the fumble)
  15. diggs has consistently been back and forth between incredibly image conscious and kind of a jerk. It is one of the struggles this board has with trying to put him in a box. He’s a charming, engaging and thoughtful guy that can quickly be arrogant and a first class ass at times.
  16. and on a practical level a QB is the only player that stays on a team 15 years; so you need some level of slow evolution and not drastic shifts once you find the sweet spot A defensive turns over essentially everyone multiple times in that window so having a few different coordinators on that side meshes the flow so much better.
  17. perhaps why your HC needs to be your OC in general
  18. it was better here with less of this. it’s just so disconnected from the real world.
  19. Let Zach Wilson move the ball 80-90 yards three times to win the game would’ve been fine with me - play the field position game. Knock in a few fgs and call it a day- right? don’t need the heavy artillery when they are already on their death bed. Let them go naturally instead of blowing yourself up playing with dynamite to finish it flashy
  20. It felt like he thought he had to outpace Rodgers against a bills defense with question marks unfortunately he did not adjust the mindset when the game changed drastically
  21. Speaking of WR…. im surprised we didn’t see more of harty through the game with his horizontal speed and ability to turn upfield. I thought we’d see a lot more of those 4-5 yat passes to stay on schedule with opportunities to turn into chunks,
  22. that’s a bit much
  23. but that doesn’t even have to mean hyped up energy. Like Josh needed to get balanced and swap out of dueling Rodgers into grinding out Wilson. 14 points wins last night if there are no turnovers in their own end. That’s much different than trying to get to 30 against an elite team because Rodgers might blow up your defense. Josh was still chasing 30 with some manic energy after Rodgers went out. Someone needed to remind him it’s a game where you get the first and go out of bounds. You fall on the botched snap. So on and so forth. Someone needed to rewire his approach pretty early.
  24. It’s true. He was a symptom, not the illness on that play
